Most singers sing what they can, Dimash sings what he wants.
Don't worry, Dimash has many more commercial songs that you can pop on when you want something in the background, also some truly beautiful folk songs in the Kazakh language.
I'd recommend Stranger, Ikanaide, Samaltau and Durdaraz to be going on with, that will give you a good starting point.
If you want something more commercial then Fly Away, Be With Me, Zhalyn, Only You, Screaming (Idol Hits version is the absolute best) Restart My Love, Golden, Give Me Your Love.
He's been intensively musically educated since the age of 5 and was offered a position with the Astana opera but turned it down as he didn't want to get tied to one genre.
He holds a bachelor's degree in vocals, a master's degree in composition and is soon to complete his PhD.
He's also funny, kind, loving and generous and very very humble.

What a phenomenal reaction! You deserve to have a hugely successful channel. Well, if you really want to understand Dimash, hearing/seeing him perform a Kazakh folk song in his native language should be high on your list. I suggest Samaltau from the Tokyo Jazz Festival, performed in his home studio in his stocking feet, sitting on a piano bench. It's the story of a young man conscripted to serve in World War 1 by the Russian Tzar, author unknown. Dimash is at heart a patriot of his country, while being a citizen of the world. Welcome to the world of the most incredible singer on the planet ❤

I’ve watched a LOT of reactions to Dimash, and this is one of the best I’ve seen. Your comments are so interesting and so similar to the way I felt the first time I heard Dimash in 2017. I love good singers, like Freddie, Karen Carpenter, Linda Ronstadt, Celine, and the young Judy Garland, but no one I’ve heard has had more versatility and ability to use their voice than Dimash He’s untouchable. And to top it off, he is a good human being who is easy to love.

This was the song that introduced me to Dimash. I was instantly impressed and instantly hooked to Dimash. For good reason. He is the only artist/singer that gives me goosebumps and chills each time I hear him. I have been brought up listening to classical music like Mozart and Bethoven and learned to play piano at a young age, and started in my teen years listening to Beatles, Billy Joel, MJ, Madona, Air Supply and countless others. Pop music hit the chart top comes and goes, but none of them made me "feel" the way Dimash's music made me feel. His music goes deep into my heart and soul. I became instant Dear and have to - MUST, listen to him every single day. Thanks, Carl. Love and respect for Dimash.

Having noticed your South Africa flag, Carl, reminds me of another South Africa reactor named Fable who has been reacting to Dimash for a number of years. I've never forgotten his reaction to "Adagio," (the 2017 version performed on the Chinese reality show, I Am Singer). He scored the song a 30 out of 30, and his headphones were depicted as exploding at the end! I can hardly wait to see your reaction to the same performance.

Dimash is a once-in-a-lifetime artist who continually works on his voice and works with his teachers. He doesn't take his voice and talent for granted, and is so humble and thankful to his parents, his teachers, his fans (Dears) and God for his voice and the life he had because of it. I don't know if you know that Dimash had a, reported 7.2 octave range, sings in 12-14 languages, is a multi-instrumentalist and a phenomenal composer.
I loved your reaction and look forward to seeing more from you. Please look for Stranger (English), Ave Maria (not the one you're thinking of!) and, Olimpico (Italian) to start with. Dimash, sings all genres of music from Opera to pop, rock, folk, classical and raps too in a couple of his songs! I guarantee you will be shocked at every thing you hear from this amazing artist. Thank you so much 😊🙏❤

I agree. I've been listening to Dimash for 6 years, and I give him my full attention when he's singing. He has sung in close to 20 languages so far. I'm most impressed when he sings Chinese and Japanese, because I can't imagine how hard that is for someone whose native tongues are Kazakh and Russian. He's doing more and more English songs, too. Check out "Stranger." By the way, the song was in French and at the point you said he sounded like a bird, the lyrics were that he wished he could be like a bird and look at the world from up above. Of course, that was the genius of the composer, who made this song very difficult for most people to sing.

    Let me help:
Dimash 2023-Vocal range: Growls (vocal fry): G0-G1
    Vocal Fry: G#1 - D2
    Chest voice: E2-C#5
    Mixed voice: D5-C6
    Head voice: C#6 - F#6
    Whistle: E7-D8
    Natural range: E2 - F#6 4.2 octaves
    *Full range: G0 - D8 7.7 octaves
    To put it in context:
He sings lower than bass in Opera. The lowest note is usually C2....and higher longer sustained whistle note.
Total Dimash range is G0-D8. By the way, a D8 is a couple of keys past the end of a piano.
Who is Dimash? Only the singer of the millennia. From Kazakhstan, beginning his singing career at age 5 (he's 29 now), Dimash was accepted into the most distinguished music academy in his country. His range extends from the top of the bass register to the highest notes of the coloratura soprano and whistle register. His first digital music album "ID" went platinum in only 37 seconds after release, and 3x platinum in only one hour, and 5x platinum in only one day on Chinese music platforms In December 2019, he made his US debut in New York at the Barclays Center. Dears (those he calls his fans) traveled from 68 different countries, 43 states & 2 US territories, and was sold out. Now writing his Doctoral thesis for a PhD in Musicology/ Composing, received all his degrees with honors while simultaneously filling arenas and maintaining his performing career, a first! He has a bachelors degree in vocals, a master's degree in composition and is about to complete his PhD in musicology this year.
Dimash sings in 14 languages, plays 7+ musical instruments, is a composer, an amazing vocalist, patriot, philanthropist and, despite his popularity and talent, is a very warm and humble person.
He (Dimash) has begun working with legendary Grammy-winning producer/composer Walter Afanasieff to produce a new song which will be released for principally the US market in the next couple of months. Afanasieff described Dimash as “the greatest voice I have ever heard,” after their first studio session and contract meeting on 22 November 2019. That is high praise when you consider the list of artists for which he has composed and produced, including Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Richard Marx, Whitney Houston, Thalía, Lionel Richie, Luther Vandross, George Benson, Destiny's Child, Kenny G, Michael Bolton, Toni Braxton, Andrea Bocelli, Johnny Mathis, Kenny Loggins, Barbra Streisand, Christina Aguilera, Ricky Martin, Leona Lewis and Idina Menzel.

Awesome reaction. You've got a new subscriber! And it was very cool that you mentioned my cousin Brendon Urie as one of the great vocalists. But as much as I think that my cousin is talented, I have to admit that Dimash is on a completely other level. I usually tell reactors to listen to Sinful Passion, Stranger, or Ikanaide next. But Dimash has a repertoire of 52 original songs and many covers, so you'll have a lot to choose from as you discover how amazingly versatile he is.

I love Freddy Mercury too but he never could sang opera in spite of the fact that he was a lover of this genre, he just sang his pop rock style with Monserrat Caballé. I think Freddie’ singing style was strongly influenced by his particular personality which made him a monster on stage and that was very captivating; he also was a great composer. However He couldnt encompass Dimash's spectrum or the extremely high quality of his vocals and technique. Definitely you need to react to more Dimash. 🔝🔝🔝

Some things that make Dimash a different singer are his absolute pitch and the ability to perceive and reproduce microtonalities (which currently reach 32 semitones and which is not a common scale in the West, which uses the well-tempered scale of 7 tones and 5 semitones ). He is also a phenomenal composer and arranger, a fact that complements his singing, as everything that needs to be done is already built into his mind!
Dimash is a graduate of the University of the Arts in piano, opera, contemporary and jazz, has a master's degree in composition, plays seven musical instruments and is currently completing a doctorate in musicology.
The complexity of the works created by Dimash (such as “The Story Of One Sky” and “El Amor En Ti”) demonstrates that, in addition to being a singer, Dimash can assert himself as one of the most talented modern composers!

Welcome to the world of Dimash! Thank you for your genuine reaction and appreciation of Dimash’s insane talent. He’s not only an exceptional vocalist, but also an accomplished musician, and an amazing performer.
Dimash has a vocal range of over 6 octaves, which is quite impressive; but that’s not what defines him. He sounds exquisite at any range, which is incredible in and of itself.
Besides, his voice has so many colors and tone to it, not mentioning his vocal dynamics. His voice is soaring only to express his intense emotions, whether it’s a cry for help (SOS), a yearning (Samaltau), or to express pain or loss (The Story of One Sky). Dimash, being a composer himself (“Unforgettable Day”- Ұмытылмас күн, The Story of One Sky, El Amor en Ti…), knows how the song he interprets must be delivered. Indeed, what I love about Dimash is that he does not use his vocal abilities to show off, but to serve the song: through his voice, he’s telling us a story.
In short, he’s not only a masterful vocalist - It’s precisely thanks to his mastery that Dimash is able to freely dive, and tap, into his emotions; but he’s also a great storyteller. What I love about him as well is the way he immerses himself in the songs he sings.
As you’ve noticed, Dimash is indeed classically trained - he even declined a position as an opera singer when he was only 22, and has absolute pitch (a rare cognitive trait by the way) which was discovered when he was only 5 years old.
I put some links below of great songs to react to. I’m sure other Dears (aka Dimash fans) will suggest many more! Take your time, no rush, and enjoy your musical journey into discovering this amazing Independent Artist from Kazakhstan!
Please check “Sinful Passion” (cover) my favorite rendition is recorded by a fan cam during his Moscow concert on March 2019 [high quality Fancam]. Here’s the link: ua-cam.com/video/uxLhwfFFUQs/v-deo.html
Since it’s recorded as is, no post production here: Dimash’s live singing is flawless. I was lucky enough to have attended his solo concert in NY back in 2019: I became a Dear for life then!
    “Ikanaide” (in Japanese. Cover): ua-cam.com/video/8mM-bp5PB34/v-deo.html
STRANGER (New Wave / Новая Волна 2021), his original song, composed by Igor Krutoy, a Russian-Ukrainian composer, specifically for Dimash: ua-cam.com/video/lFsB5HVnmSA/v-deo.html
(whenever you see Igor Krutoy accompanying him on the piano during a live performance, it means that he composed the song for Dimash)
    AVE MARIA | New Wave 2021 ua-cam.com/video/mLG8g2ooFSA/v-deo.html
(not the Schubert’s version but Igor Krutoy’s, the composer who accompanies Dimash at the piano in the video).
Note: Please check out (in your downtime or with us) this short video of his vocal practice session (link: ua-cam.com/video/RX_4TD5U5t8/v-deo.html); and you’ll understand why he’s the king of vocal dynamics: his mastery of the crescendo and diminuendo is incredible, and he was only 22 in that video. Fast forward a few years time and you have Dimash doing the exact same thing at the end of Ave Maria.
Omir Oter | 2021 ua-cam.com/video/6Zg9jKRNCF8/v-deo.html (his original, in Kazakh, composed for him)

El Amor En Ti |(Almaty Concert, 2022. Dimash composed the music)
    ua-cam.com/video/L7PML9UcKwE/v-deo.html
“Unforgettable Day”- Ұмытылмас күн | 2021 (his original Kazakh song, Dimash composed the music when he was 17) ua-cam.com/video/W5D20sNvnHY/v-deo.html
Durdaraz, Almaty Concert (traditional Kazakh song with a rock vibe) ua-cam.com/video/LLtvuGKY1OY/v-deo.html
“The Story of One Sky” (Dimash composed the music, his latest masterpiece) is a heartfelt plea for peace and unity: although we are divided into different countries, races and faiths, we all share the same sky. ua-cam.com/video/1Psjws97FoA/v-deo.html

This high quality video is really well edited and put together: I trust you will enjoy watching the footage/fan cams of his warm and funny interactions with his audience during his concerts. I was impressed at his professionalism when dealing with technical difficulties: it didn’t deter him from putting on an amazing performance and his vocals are always on point, no matter what! Dimash is no doubt both a musical prodigy, and an exceptional vocalist.

no :) he cannot reach first octave (without subharmonics) so please lets not pretend he has 7 octaves range. octaves 2-6 with extention to 7th octave in whistle register and this one famous note he sang by mistake from 8th octave :) it is still most impressive so lets not add something that is not :)

    • @Swe_Scorpi
      @Swe_Scorpi Рік тому +3

I think you’ll find that he does. The D8 is in the 8th Octave whether it was a ‘mistake’ or not & he has shown that he can still hit the note on his knees & with vibrato, so I’m pretty sure he could hit it again. This link was from 2yrs ago & since then he has worked even more on his lower range. Are you a vocal coach? I doubt it!

This song is a pearl of the French songbook: It is a French-Canadian cyberpunk-rock opera called “Starmania”, written in 1976 by Michel Berger (France) and with lyrics by Luc Plamondon (Canada) and immortalized in the voices of Daniel Balavoine, Diane Dufresne and Gregory Lemarchal. The theme of the song is depression: In the 2021 version, Dimash faithfully and brilliantly presents a sentimental and melancholy interpretation! As the singing decisions follow the original structure of the song, which serves to show the psychological instability of the afflicted character: From the chest voice to the head voice and then to falsetto, the author sought to show a broad need to overcome a moment of despair and the pretense of accepting to reach a higher perspective! Dimash, currently at his concerts, dedicates this song to his friends and acquaintances who have departed this world!

It's so good to have a fellow South African comment on the channel. I'm hoping to build a Dimash following here in South African and hopefully that'll prompt Dimash to tour here. But we need to build awareness 😂

You've been Dimash'd by our vocal god and that was the tip of the iceberg. This is Dimash's signature song and there are many versions of it, all spectacular .
I love your musical knowledge and your enthusiasm and the way you break things down. You won't believe his vocal abilities as you go down this rabbit hole.
I've sub'd to follow along with your new journey and can't wait for another reaction. It's hard to say where to go from here since they are all masterpieces and unique from almost every genre of music from rap to opera Dimash does it all. 15 + languages , perfect pitch and absolute and complete control of his vocals. Maybe try simple Passion from this same venue next
Love from a Disciple of Dimash, Los Angeles Chapter

My first experience of Dimash was on an American singing competition called World’s Best in 2019. He sang this song ( he sings it differently often) and it rocked the judges and the audience. There’s more drama to discuss about but I’ll save that for another day.
The innate talent, the level of experience, the level of education in music and performance, and the thousands of hours of drills are only part of what made him a sensation.
He is known worldwide and adored by millions. There are fan clubs around the world created by his “Dears”.
    This young man is special.
At the end of the song he drops his hand and gestures downward. It’s as if he is dropping the sheet music on the stage and saying yes, I just did everything that you heard.
If you would like to hear him sing in English check out his song “Stranger”. It is stunning.
What a wonderful reaction. Sometimes a reaction can look like being speechless. There is so much more for you to see and hear. #Dears will give you the best recommendations in sequence of his journey.
Bravo Dimash and Bravo to you. I had to subscribe to your channel.
What genre does he sing? All of them. Cheers Carl

Thank you so much for sharing your first experience of Dimash and your thoughts about his talent and success. We completely agree that there is something special about Dimash - his range, education, and level of performance are truly awe-inspiring. We're also glad to hear that he has a worldwide following of devoted fans, and we appreciate your recommendation to check out his song "Stranger" in English.
As for what genre Dimash sings, we admire his ability to sing in many different styles - from pop to opera, he can do it all. We can't wait to explore more of his music and see the journey that has led him to where he is today. Thank you again for your support and enthusiasm, and we hope to continue bringing you more amazing content on The WordSmith UA-cam channel. Cheers!

I grew up listening to Queen, and I used to think Freddie Mercury was hands down the greatest singer ever. I mean, who could even come close, right? Then, I heard about this Asian dude supposedly being the best singer in the world, and I couldn't help but laugh and dismiss it. It wasn't until the pandemic hit that I finally gave his music a shot, and oh boy, I was in for a shock! I spent the whole day and night binge-listening to almost all his songs , and by the end of it, I was totally sold on him being the best and most versatile vocalist my ears had ever come across. You're gonna feel the same way after about 5 songs, especially"Stranger," "Ave Maria," "El amor en ti," and "Olimpico" - those really showcase his mind-blowing vocal range. I loved your reaction, and I subscribed just to see you admit he's the best in the world 😄.

Such a good in-depth reaction, thank you. S.O.S. is one of his greatest successes. You have so much to see. For pure vocalisations listen to Ave Maria and Diva Dance, your mind really will be blown! He sings in myriad languages including English, Chinese, Russian, Kazakh which is his native language, Japanese etc etc. Thank you again!

If you keep listening to Dimash, you will become a Dear (that is what he calls his fans). If you wish to listen to a few in English, try Stranger, Be With Me, Screaming, Hello and, as a tribute to Freddie Mercury, The Show Must Go On. When he did that song, Dimash learned it phonetically since he did not speak English at that time. You will also enjoy Ave Maria, Ikanaide, Olimpico, Opera 2, and Sinful Passion.
