I Love Dimash’s deep warm resonant tone here. Gorgeous. And I love that he got to sing with Lara finally. I hope they get to sing together again in a duet sometime ❤
Lara Fabian is 54 years, he said that she is his inspiration since he was just a kid. One add information, she was sick that night. There is a video of them rehearsing the night before, she says to Dimash and Igor (the pianist who is also her close friend since 2004) "I have fever, I'll need to take a stronger medicine for tomorrow, this one I have been taking is not enough." She got flu.

It was the director's prerogative how long to make that last note take--which was very long, thus the raised eyebrows of Igor. Check out when Lara starts to sing a skater does a standing flip! I loved just the full out bravado of all the skaters with this inspiring song! So, not sure how long they would have all had to practice for an event like this, but they're obviously Olympic quality skaters. There's so much beauty, so many things going on, it's almost overwhelming! Dimash has brought so much richness and different kinds of music to my life, I'm so grateful! Thanks for a great reaction.

At one point during the rehearsals for this concert, Aida said she was going shopping, and Dimash could sing her parts. Of course she was joking but also aknowledging his great range.

This was the Grand Finale of the entire 2h concert and all skaters that performed before just came out for the final bow that is why it seems to you they are disconnected from the song performance. But the during the show each skaters and singers performances were connected. By the way, many of the skaters are the former Olympic or World or EU champions from Russia. Dimash made 5 appearances in this show. He was the opening act with Olympico and the closing act with this trio. Other performances by Dimash he made in this concert: Ulysse (with Aida Garifullina), Know and Passione.
It's a celebration for Igor Krutoy's 65th birthday. He also sang a duet with Aida at this event called "Ulisse" (Ulysses) where the skating routine actually fits the music.
Let me give you some info on this incredible trio and event:
• Igor Krutoy, the pianist, is there as an overall lead because the event is built for him: this is his birthday event that he organized with all his favorite artists, the ones that he is used to collaborate with and the songs he has composed. Igor is considered as the godfather of the russian music scene, a bigger equivalent for Russia of David Foster for North America.
• This is not the first time that Lara sings this song (composed by Igor) in trio but the third time: she performed in the original version with Dmitri Hvorostovsky and Alina Yaroyava then again later with Dmitriy and Sumi Jo, before this new trio with Dimash and Aida. The song was composed from day one with her voice in mind. She has been collaborating with Igor for more than 10 years, they co-created many songs together and he has told from her that she is “the best singer and the best songwriter he has ever worked with”
• This also explains why the song does not expose more of Dimash’s upper register: it was written for the late Dmitri who was a pure baryton.
• Lara was very very sick that day, with fever and strong medication but she is skilled enough to have made it unnoticeable
• Also, like Dimash, and even if the song was composed that way with her in mind, Lara does not sing in her real « comfort zone »: she is, as Aida, a lyrical soprano but here she plays the role in the trio of a mezzo-soprano and takes the median register. It requires a lot of voice control to not interfere with Aida’s high note and does not allow her to really shine. She gives room to Aida to do it instead and Aida uses this magnificently.
• It was the first time Dimash met his idol Lara (he is a fan since he is a child and he covered several of her songs such as Adagio, Love of Tired Swans, Mademoiselle Hyde, Know, … / she influenced him a lot on the way he performs and builds his songs) : look how quickly he turned to her, despite he has not finished his duo section with Aida 😂 And how he looks at her and hold her after it …
• Lara is the most comfortable in italian because it is her first native language even before french: her mother is italian and while born in Belgium she spent her first 7 years in sicilia before returning there. She also is married to a sicilian man
• Look how dimash slightly adapted his vibrato to better match Aida or Lara
• Also there is a debate about the final note, held for such a long time, with the conductor looking at Igor and Igor smiling: Did they make a prank to the singers by extending this last note? Or did the singers instead played with them? I personnally think this is more option 1 😀
• I forgot to add that Lara has been classically trained for more than 10 years at Brussels Royal Conservatory and still continues to receive voice lessons on a daily basis. And she has sung many times opera pieces or with opera singers.
• Final note to say that Lara Fabian wrote the lyrics of the song Your Love for Dimash

👉 With this last song in this breathtaking concert (You should watch it), Dimash follows in the footsteps of the world famous opera singer (baritone) Dmitri Hvorostovsky (*1962 in Krasnoyarsk; †2017 in London), who has often sung this song by maestro Krutoy in previous performances.
The lady in white is Aida Garifullina, *1987, a Tatar from Russia, world-famous opera star and Prima Donna at the Vienna Opera (Austria).
The lady in black is Lara Fabian (*1970), also a world-famous singer, songwriter from Belgium and a great role model for Dimash. Even as a child, Dimash wished to be on stage with Igor Krutoy and Lara Fabian one day ... and here the dream came true.
The ice dancers are Olympic champions and world champions from Russia.
This event took place on the occasion of the 65th birthday of Igor Krutoy (composer at the piano) in 2019. Can there be a nicer birthday?
* Igor Krutoy (Krutoy means 'Cool', *1954 in Ukraine SSR). He lives and works in Moscow/ Russia. He is singer, a world- famous composer and music titan in Russia (billionaire). His family lives in the US. Krutoy came out of retirement to write songs for Dimash. The maestro and Dimash have been working together from time to time since 2018. They are friends and have a father-son relationship.
Krutoy wrote of what working with Dimash meant to him: “How lucky it is to be doing what you love to do, writing for such a brilliantly feeling singer, evoking deep emotion in the audience and being in demand'.
So far, Igor has composed several songs for Dimash and many songs in 30 years for Lara Fabian and other singers. Most of the songs in this concert were by him.

* Lilia Vinogradova wrote the grandiose lyrics and is known as a permanent co-author of the composer Igor Krutoy, with whom has created wonderful works in the crossover genre. They created the cycle for Hvorostovsky, albums for Sumi Jo, Anna Netrebko, Yusif Aivazov, Lara Fabian and others.

Link in the rest of the concert there was great skating. This was the final song. All his compositions. Amazing concert. In this song Lara's persona was the other woman, with Aida's persona the woman the man always comes back to.

While Aida Garifullina is an operatic lyric soprano this is still not what you would call proper opera. Some might refer to this as more classical in style. This was composed by Igor Krutoy.
Dimash's performance of The Pearl Fishers Duet with Placido Domingo is a true and proper operatic piece. If you have not reacted to that performance I would recommend you do so.
