On tv bleeping: it is WILD to me as an Australian that so many American shows bleep "damn" or "god". Or more subtly they avoid saying "god" by saying "gosh". JUST SWEAR.
We're still Puritans at heart. Fringe Puritans at this point.
Depends heavily on the network. Most would only bleep god or damn if it’s combined as god•damn. But some of the more “family friendly” shows do bleep like crazy. And sometimes they’ll air old shows that originally were on other networks (where mild swearing was okay). Best example was a court drama and one of the characters says something and the other says “like hell it is” but they bleeped out “like hell”, which totally changes what was said. Only way I even knew was that the network forgot to edit the captions so they still had the full line.
May December and Portrait of a Lady on Fire are so incredibly beautiful and heartbreaking, but not flashy or overly dramatic so I think it’s all about the mindset of the viewer
agree .. just had a recent encounter with a narcissist and watching May December chilled me to the bones
