Hi Lisa! Thanks a lot for sharing the tester with us, it’s a life-changer! Can you tell me, please, what is the best way to save artworks made of repeating patterns? Do you simply make a screenshot of the tester page or do you save the Procreate file in a certain way, in order to see the pattern at a smaller scale?
If you need a version of your pattern repeated, the best way to do this would be using the transform tool. Shrink the pattern block down to 1/4 of it's size (snapping will help you do this perfectly). Then duplicate it three times and tile them to fill the entire canvas. Hopefully that explains it! I hope to make another pattern video one day about advanced techniques for making patterns in Procreate.
@@BardotBrush Thanks for the reply! This is how I’ve done it and I’m happy with the image quality. And once again, your tester makes the process a lot easier 😊
Thanks you so much for all of your tutorials ! It helped me a lot to understand all of the possibility of Procreate as a photoshop / paint tool Sao user!
@@BardotBrush Hi Lisa! Thank you for your tutorial and your great tester! I shrank the pattern I made into ¼ of its size with snapping on, and then did the duplication and tiling. However, when I did that, even though everything was snapping and lining up perfectly (according to the grid), white lines appeared across my pattern where the images met. Do you have a solution for this?
Thank you so much! Ill never understand why people as intelligent as you are willing to freely share your knowledge but just want you to know its life changing for some of us and there’s a special place in heaven for you! ❤
As an artist I was so excited when I finally got my iPad, apple pencil and procreate combo! But quickly got overwhelmed with its amazingness. Your tutorials are helping me so so much. I'm excited to pick up my iPad now and create. Thank you!!
The paper demonstration is what did it for me. The best example I've seen so far. The black layer was really great for supporting the visual too. Great video.
I was actually going to ask about the black layer, what was the point of it? Do you actually need it? Or was it just to help visualize the pattern better when working with it?
That fact that you actually made a pattern tester for people to use ... and you named a pallet "Yam I Am" speaks volumes of you, and ma'am, you are the high priestess! 🙌
Hello, Just wanted to let you know that you have literally helped me learn how to make repeating patterns in 10 mins that I have been trying to figure out for months. Thank you so very much. Can’t thank you enough, really.😊😊
This is SO helpful! I always wondered how people did this and now I'm feeling so inspired!!! No longer is my chicken astronaut bedsheet pattern dream out of reach....
The example of how to make the repeat with the 4 pieces of paper is priceless!!! not to mention the rest of the video. Thank you for explaining it in an easy to understand way.
One other thing you can do is when you go to “Copy All”, turn your background layer off. That way your pattern will have a transparent background and you can then play with trying different background colors (darker vs lighter, etc). Nice tutorial, BTW. Your pattern repeat tester is very handy.
Yep, that is another way to do it! If you do it this way, you will need to create a guide layer as I did in the strawberry example, otherwise, your artwork may not snap properly.
You amazingly demonstrated! So much fun! I can’t wait to get my iPad as soon as it comes out (hopefully in April 2024). I’ll watch your other videos as well. Thank you😊
Thanks Lisa! This was a little tricky for me, but I kept backing up and rewatching and redoing sections. It was great fun! I'm so glad you showed your designs on products like the fabric. I never thought of that! Every time I watch your tutorials I'm more inspired to try new things.
This is the BEST pattern vid I've found thus far, thank you!! That explainer at the beginning with the dinos made it all click for me, I appreciate that extra bit.
Oohh my goshh. You just made more sense of this than any other technical tutorial I've watched on it in the first 2 minutes with dino stamps and paper. Excellent!
I am over here screaming at my computer, this is absolutely MAGIC! I have really been underutilizing a lot of Procreate features and I can't wait to watch more of your tutorial videos. The t-shirts and fabric printing is also to die for. Thank you for this awesome video!
So happy I found this video! I'm upgrading from an iPad mini to a larger screen and I'm so excited to get drawing. The strawberry pattern was too cute! 😍🍓
btw i was making a parallax effect for an assignment and i was stuck and frustrated since yesterday. I decided to watch ur video without any hope to help me on that. it turned out that i did it well and ur pattern test helped me to finish it faster! I also want to mention that ur passion for this got me thrilled since the beginning and now that i thought i lost my motivation, the positivity that u give in ur videos kept me going. Thank you!
You are amazing! Thank you! I love your tutorials. You teach in a way that is so easy to follow along, plus your style is upbeat and happy, while being straightforward! I am always inspired after watching. Thank you! Happy Mother’s Day.
Thank you so much! And thank you for adding the little mess-up of the lines. Mine kept messing up before I finished the full video but then I watched and saw it happened to you too. I felt a bit better.
You’ve done it AGAIN! You solved yet another problem I was having and simplified it in a way that makes it easy for someone like me who is not tech savvy. Thank you so much. I’m excited to now tackle all my dream projects I have put off because I couldn’t understand how to achieve it before. ❤️🥰🙏🏻
