It is amazing video 👏🏼👏🏼 thank you so much I have questions did the photoshop is better than procreate in patterns if I need to be a service pattern 🤷🏼♀️
You’ve got a first for me… usually I watch like 5 minutes of a tutorial, and I’m off and running on my own… I bought all 3 of the packs last week, and started with a different tutorial, trying to work with line art that I already had… and kept having everything crashing into each other. So I’ve swallowed my pride, and I’m going to do this tutorial over and over until I have the whole process all figured out and memorized. 😂 You broke me, in the best way lol. Any chance you’d do a tutorial that starts with ready made line art/completed cliparts? Thank you for these great packs and the loads of tutorials to go with, I have other sets for making patterns, and the tutorials for those are near no help at all, 1 run through, no follow through for other than the very most basic layouts… I’m so glad I found these ones ☺️
Hello! I agree that this process takes a while to become intuitive! I’ve been using it for around 3 years now and I’m still occasionally finding new ways to hack it! I love this method specifically because you draw the pattern as you go. I don’t ever use ready made line art in my own patterns. I refine sketches as I go in the sketch layer using this method and then only draw them once the rough layout is complete. I used to draw a bunch of motifs first and then put them together in photoshop or illustrator, but I quickly fell in love with making them this way, almost making them backwards and not drawing the motifs until the end. I prefer to draw my motif to fit the space in the pattern, rather than the other way around! This way it feels more like painting a picture rather than putting together a jigsaw puzzle. Not that either of those ways are right/wrong of course, just that we’re all different and different processes will suit some of us better than others! 🩷
@@rebeccaflaherty oh no, it’s a good thing… make me sit still and listen properly, rather than getting a bit of an overview and off before I *actually* get it lol. And I see some start from stamps, so that’s kind of the same as if I started from some of my line work, and then working from my finished art should be fairly easy ☺️
Mam i want to learn and download to procreate app. But i do not know is it in play store? Or software?i want to ask u that i draw textile designs only on page not digitally i want to sell it or i want a job. So what should i do? Plz reply
@@rebeccaflaherty I purchased the pattern maker canvas & brush set from Etsy. But the diamond canvas comes as a psd but it doesn’t have any layers in the file. No extra group as well
@@natsinbookland hello! I’m going to assume you’re the same Nat I just chatted with on Etsy and we got it sorted by importing it as a file instead of a photo? If so, lovely chatting to you! But if it wasn’t the same person, then give me a shout over on Etsy and we’ll get it sorted!! 🩷🩷
Those are just groups of empty layers ready set up to work on. You can just add new layers and group them if you want to do it yourself. The Pattern Maker Canvas comes with all those layers already set up for you though x
It’s just the rough sketchy brush that I use for my sketches, sorry! The sketch itself isn’t as important as the mechanisms of moving the layers about. As long as you can see all the other bits like how I move the layers etc you can just make your own sketch of whatever you fancy. It doesn’t have to be exactly the same, in fact it’s even better if it’s not! Let me know if you have any other questions 🩷🩷
@@rebeccaflaherty it's less the brush and more the white background in combination with it being a video of a screen and not a direct screen recording and whatever editing was done on top of that. I am having a really hard time following, even with it blown up on my TV because the entire canvas looks white
This Tutorial!!! amazing. But...I wasn't able to locate the template with all your layers set up. I found something called Free-Trailing-Floral-Template. But it is a single layer. Can you either send a link or something? thanks in advance I did go to your page and did enter the password for the freebies. But there was only one download for the Trailing Floral Template. I'd be happy to buy it if you send me that link?
My The Pattern Maker Canvas and brush set is on Etsy and not in the freebie library. Here’s the link for it beccaflaherty.etsy.com/listing/1521233585 you can use the free floral template in the Etsy canvas though!
It took me many months of making my patterns like this every day before I could do it this fast (or without forgetting how to do it!) But it soon becomes muscle memory! That said though, everyone is different and has their own favourite method so if you already have a different way of making patterns that you enjoy using then just go with that! ❤️

Such a thorough and perfect tutorial!
Thanks so much! 🩷
Would be nice if this would start at the beginning of the process, which size of canvas do I need and all of that. 😊 Still thank you for the vid.
So helpful to learn how to make a pattern from sketching! Thank you for sharing😍
You are so welcome! It’s such a fun process!
So helpful! What a great video ❤
Glad it was helpful to you! 💙

Where do I get the diamond template ?
Hello! You can get it here! beccaflaherty.etsy.com/listing/1521233585

Procreate is iOS only so it isn’t available in the play store.
Does the pattern maker canvas come with the layers like you’ve shown in the video i.e Draw here first , Extra etc. or is it just the diamond layer?
Hello! Yes, all exactly as shown including the sketch, pattern & extra groups plus the seamless overlay textures x

Love the concept but I wasn’t able to follow. Too many steps and too fast. I would never be able to remember how to do all these steps.
