    Thank you so much for this video. It was so much easier to understand than the video on the American Standard website.

    The new seal is red. If the black screw is not attached correctly it will continue to leak. It does not mean it's a faulty part. All his steps are very good for the D.I.Yer.

    Thank you for your very informative video. Before I saw your video I had bought a Fluidmaster Flush Seal at THD. Watched another video on replacing the seal. Was able to change out the old w the new w/o removing the chain & pin. Put everything back together, w the exception of removing old O-ring on black nut. Fluid-master Universal seal didn’t come with one. Toilet still making a water leaking sound. So going to plumbing supply house for correct part 🫤 Do you think that’s the issue…wrong part? Or is it the O-ring? Toilet is 5 yrs old.

    my new toilet flush handle is sticking up vs returning to level after flushing. what do you think?

    • @alexthehandyman3494
      @alexthehandyman3494  6 місяців тому

      Hello, Check the chain that is attached to the handle, It might be too long and catching up. Check the plastic nut that holds the handle to the tank. It might be too tight and it doesn't allow the handle to return to the original position.

    Thanks so much. Turning that bolt on top was quite difficult and we eventually got it going with needle nose pliers. Not as easy as your video. Also in putting that green hopper on we didn’t get it in those four prongs and it leaked so backed up and tried it again. Now after seeing how bad that gasket was it’s a wonder our water bill isn’t sky high. Again, thank you so much.

    I'm so glad I read the comments. I had the same problem turning the black bolt on the top. Thanks RayMeadows for mentioning the needle nose. I tried it and it worked like a charm.

    Great video. Not much information on the internet on this type of flush valve yet. Thanks for your help. I agree with Ray. The top nut was very tight and almost felt like the plastic was going to snap.

    My flapper does not have a bolt. Looks like older version all one piece. Any advice to remove?

    • @IMharshh
      @IMharshh Рік тому +2

      If your flapper doesn’t have the black piece center of flapper and the green flapper is all one unit? Your gonna want to lift on the flapper, hole the black rod underneath with one hand, and turn your flapper according to the direction written on top. Then it removes. The black rod threads into the flapper it’s self.

    There has to be at least hundred videos on You Tube that show how to change the seal on the flush valve when the valve has the green top with the black nut that you remove to lift the top off and change the seal. Sadly, there are only two or three videos that I know of that show how to change the seal when there is no nut on top, and the process is completely different and almost impossible if you don't know how. And two of those three videos are not very clear and not much help. It took me a while to figure it out along with one of those video's that I found that does deal with that kind of flush valve. Shame on American Standard for not making a video that deals with that valve.

    • @ranckie5055
      @ranckie5055 7 місяців тому

      @@peternotarfrancesco2614 Since you used the word "fractured", did you make a typo and possibly mean that his BOWL "fractured", or did you mean that one of the bolts that holds the toilet to the floor flange "break", because they each have a different solution.

      american standard is not an American manufacturer. The design of the products they produce is severely flawed with reason . Not many consumers will pay $ 400.00 to a plumber when they can pay $ 150.00 for a new piece of garbage . I have 4 toilets in my home . NO MORE american standard here .

      Make sure the plastic nut is tight enough.
      make sure the seal seats perfect.
      It might be the fill valve level too high. Adjust the level to a lower position. Make sure flush valve is tight and no water seeping .

    • @V8Brah

      I believe he did the install wrong. You're supposed to lift up the bottom green part of the flapper when you screw in the top nut, and make sure the notches match on the green parts. He did not do this and I think this is your issue.
