Prison Pet Partnership

In this video, you will learn about the wonderful work that Prison Pet Partnership does. Prison Pet Partnership is a non-profit organization located on the grounds of the Washington Corrections Center for Women in Gig Harbor. We rescue and train homeless animals to provide service dogs for persons with disabilities and operate a boarding and grooming facility to provide vocational education for women inmates. Our program benefits all involved - the animals who are given the chance to lead lives of service, the inmates who learn valuable skills so they may find gainful employment upon release, and the individuals with disabilities who receive well-trained dogs to help increase their level of independence.

Another wonderful animal prison program! These are slowly spreading across the U.S., and have been shown to not only decrease the number of repeat offenders, but also pay for themselves and enable local shelters to adopt out more animals. Congratulations and much respect to everyone involved!

We need this program at every prison so that there won't be a shortage of service dogs for those who need one. I have several patients who either need one or will need one, yet don't have the money to purchase a trained service dog and the waitlist for a donated service dog is long. Please support Prison Pet Partnerships in your area and contact your local prison and advocate for them to start one. Also, volunteer to help these programs, including becoming a foster family for transitioning service and paroled dogs.

I don't even need a service animal but would absolutely pay to get my animals to a good obedience school. Also, I've been trying for months in my town trying to find a pet groomer that takes cats with no luck.
