      135 lb is known as “ the bar “. Bar no weight is bar no weight so it would b bar no weight then the bar then plate and half or 185 , 225 or “2 plates however u want 2 say it as some r using kgs some r using lbs 275 , 315 , 365 , 405 etc etc going up in half plates obviously there is everything in between with smaller jumps of 20-30 lbs but it’s known as “the bar” which is the original “old school” way of taking weights. They would say I satiated with the bar no weight no set my form the I “took the bar” did x reps then I took 225 etc etc. A regular incline db press but bringing the weights in as u would a fly and squeezing at the top was also a popular 1. Another phenomenal oft overlooked exercise for the chest with emphasis on upper chest making sure to initiate with the pecs is the lying over the bench db pullover. It’s actually a full body exercise heavily hitting pecs , triceps , delts , lats, traps, forearms , and abs and core right down 2 the groin and stabilizing with glutes and hams. That was even performed as a stand-alone single exercise workout for chest medium weight 8 x 15 or as an in between sets during squats with a light weight taking advantage of the heavy breathing to expand the rib cage which can b extremely beneficial for individuals starting training who have an underdeveloped rib box or used with low rep heavier weight for lats as a back exercise. It’s perfect to stretch out the pecs on a chest day.

      Bodybuilders started chemistry as soon as they could get their hands on it.
      Yes, it was a different aesthetic. The IFBB changed primarily due to political reasons, ushering in the mass monsters era. But don't be under the illusion that bodybuilding was ever about health. It is about aesthetics, and to exceed a certain amount of developement enhancements are a necessity. "Bodyduilders then" were on all the stuff they could find back then.

      @@redaxxx9116 unless he has admitted to being on gear I disagree. He has insane arms and a small waist which makes him look very aesthetic. That said, he doesn’t have a very low level of body fat and his strength, while impressive does not scream unnatural.

    Great video Pete! I only recently discovered your channel but it's quickly become my favorite source of true advice and information. I remember seeing this stuff at Gold's venice when I started lifting in the mid-late 80's. I only wish I had someone explain the how's and why's to me back then. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

    Yes. Excellent video and form. I did these yesterday. The Arnold incline dumbbell press and the incline barbell. I then did did some decline barbell and finished off with flat dumbbell flys and pullovers. Chest is sore today and has a great pump thanks to your videos and advice Pete. 👍

    Great advice! Love the old school bodybuilding workouts.
    I do what Arnold says to do as well, I’ll up the load on all my lifts by at least 15-30 lbs once a month or sometimes a little more often. It definitely helps, ironically, with my biceps quite a bit. Was stuck on incline db curl for legit months. Bumped up the weights and did rest pause with a heavier weight to match the reps of my previous load and I blew past my previous 10 rep max.

    I must say that 2nd excersise was very interesting will give that a go in the near future. As for the dumbbell fly it's my favourite chest go to. I actually see very few guys, perform this excersise in my gym. Thanks for sharing.

    I can never get a good chest pump and I am lacking the Clavicular Pecs. I followed this workout today and took my grip in on press like you do and got a great workout with a great pump. Great Channel! Its my number one go to for advice!

    Yo, what about a doing DB Flys on the Floor? Similar Range of Motion and Stretch(compare to your variation), while being much safer to load.

    Be careful going heavy with incline bench. I have been doing incline bench exclusively for almost 10 years and my AC joint is properly busted. havent been able to bench now for 5 months. its just an injury that you dont realize until its there. it creeps up very slowly. just too risky for anything close to a 5 rep max. I would recommend a 10 to 12 rep max for this movement and 6 rep for flat bench.

    Love the old school workouts, bro. In my opinion, the majority of the gym time should be spent in the free weight area. If you know what your doing, that is the best place to gain growth. Cable machine is my next go to. Other than that, nothing.

    I still believe that the flat bench is the ultimate staple for chest mass. But I won’t discredit your routine since it’s good for details thus you’re already the living proof.

    The grip is too narrow and puts too much stress on the triceps and shoulders. Arnold used a wide grip working his upper chest more.
