I was thinking in your at last episode when you went to California, you need to get to the Fraser River; there's nothing here in California. Now you are back on the Fraser River now you will get gold. The best of panning for you Dan. I love your videos, both informational and educational...however, I must admit that I'm envious. You're in an area where you could find all kinds of goodies and here I am in the coal regions of Central PA. No gold save for the few flecks of flour gold and/or silver here and there. It would take a lifetime of panning to get an amount that's worthwhile.
Where you're located, you can easily (I do understand the work can be tougher) make a living finding gold, gems, and other minerals. I wish more than anything that I could do this. If I could be there, I'd make this my job! Lucky you!!

You're looking at this all wrong! It's not the gold, it's the joy of the hunt! The thrill of moving rocks, avoiding snakes and fleas, digging in the dirt and waiting for some ranger to come tell you to pack in and move along! Actually FINDING goal is almost beside the point. So you go right ahead and pan those local rivers.

Hi Dan! I recommend having a flat strap to move bigger rocks, I use them slings in nylon that is used for lifting and you get much more leverage pulling than lifting. Having a good stance while pulling keeps one from tumbling over if they slip of the rock.

Even if you factor in 16 hours, the current gold price would still work out to about $200/hr. If you camped out there for a few days to reduce the setup and takedown time, then it could really pay off. Especially while the river is low.

Flakes are (Or should be) more water motive, ie, moved down rather more than flecks. A secondary table that accumulates those flakes rather than lose them might be in order. It's a ''special'' feature not usually needed in gold prospecting, but as you so often say, it's Fraser river gold, not the norm. As always, I love the vids :P (Flakes can exibit rather more surface area, therefore gets tossed further, not a good thing when you are hoping they settle into the riffles designed for finer gold).

I know that it might be hard to find someone who can consistently do this, but I think that kid who was with you all the time after your surgery (I apologize to him, I can't remember his name) would be a good candidate. He was always there when you needed him and he was very concerned about your safety and health. I don't go out alone anymore. With all the damage that my body has taken over the years, it wouldn't take much of a knock to rebreak an old break on a bone that I had set myself. So please be careful.
One other thing I thought about is that you could raft over to the other side easily when it's low water like now. Right before the snow melt you could spend a week camping comfortably while working hard during the day with some help. I bet you could make a killing with a couple a kids to help and the proper gear all loaded onto a kind of wooden raft towed by a proper raft/boat. It wouldn't be that long of a haul.
Even though I've been prospecting and mining for years, I've learned so much about new gear and different techniques that I wouldn't have thought of from you. It would be a shame if you had to retire early from an injury that could have been prevented. You remind us of a kind father or uncle that taught us us things that we have used all our lives. You're well loved and well respected this small community of ours. STAY SAFE!!!

Great channel. Although 1.1 mil subs + monetized videos means the gold is actually in making youtube videos about panning for gold. He probably earns a lot more per month now on UA-cam vs panning.
Also while Dan seems legit, some of the other gold panning videos from other creators seem sus, like they could be using spray painted rocks for all we know.

You're not kidding man, often times after a long hike I'd find flour gold dust stuck to my boots. Granted I'm not too far downstream from cripple creek and live near other decent gold producing areas, lots of uranium round these parts too but I want no part in that lol.

Yeah, I can see a ton of gold too, that's quite a few grams eh? OK, I know that's just your vernacular, but hey, you said a ton! Best you wish for 1 hours use of the high banker! Nice job! Hmm, wonder if there's gold here in Thailand?

  • @hunnybunnysheavymetalmusic6542

The trick for getting all the gold one would be best to bring some camping gear and stay overnight to make it worth it [both resting up as well as making the trip less of a complete hassle].

Most heart issues are dietary and caused by neuroimmune sensitization. Minimizing cheese, dairy, and red meat will help with the issue. My father had heart and joint problems and swelling in his face but it all went away when he stopped eating cheese. The decrease in immune sensitization and inflammation afterwards improved his eyesight and he needed a lesser eyeglass prescription.

Dan, love the channel. You can improve your video by installing a Polorizing filter on hour objective lens. The reflection off the water will be illimaiated. The end product, which is excellent, will improve.

Dan, in regards to getting over to the other side of the river, might it be easier to find someone with a boat that you can load your gear onto, then go up/down river until you reach where you want to pan? It would save you probably a lot of energy and risk of falling (those banks on the other side looked STEEP) PLUS you'd have at least one other person to help you shift rocks and material. (work in shifts )
Just a thought for next years low water.
