- Since Zelda Skyward Sword is coming to switch I thought it might be fun to do a flute & harp cover of this beautiful tune. I'm very fortunate to still have this magnificent keyed wooden flute from the mid 1800s on loan. It allows for a lot more expression with the open holes and has a rich warm tone that metal doesn't quite give.

Sometimes when I’m bored, I turn this on, pull out my flute, and harmonize with Luke (and it’s really fun!). I improvise harmonies sometimes and while doing so, I found out that the B section harmonizes well with the A section!

Skyward Sword was my first Zelda game ever, got it for the Wii when I was little. I won't lie, I teared up a little hearing this, remembering a time when life didn't feel nearly so serious.

I found my old flute from 18 years ago tucked away in a box a few days ago and have been looking for songs to practice. I love Skyward Sword SO much and immediately looked for this song, but your version is just so perfect, clean and emotional. That wooden flute really has such a beautiful sound! And of course, you are very talented. Thank you for this gem I will replay over and over.

I loved this interpretation, when you brought in the guitar and drums I was like, woah! this is a slightly unexpected but very fitting color and development in the piece, loved it. Def excited if you decide to do more Zelda covers

This is a lovely arrangement of this theme! You've done splendidly on giving such an emphasis on the flute, especially with how well you play it (that goes for everything!)
Sadly I've never heard the official OST version of this theme, so I may not be able to enjoy it fully yet. Regardless, I can easily imagine Link exploring a cool and desolate landscape. If you don't mind me mentioning this, you could do Wind Waker themes with ease!

Zelda covers are my favorites! If you want a suggestion I think Twilight Princess has some very nice music, the Hyrule field would be an interesting cover for a multi instrumentalist

This is a very beautiful cover. I found myself singing along to it. I have an idea for another cover...Have you heard of the movie Song of the Sea? I’d like to hear you do something from there. I’d also like to hear you do something from twilight princess (malo mart and queen rutela’s theme), ocarina of time (spirit temple, sheik’s theme, and water temple), wind waker (makar’s theme and medli’s theme), paper Mario (shooting star summit, toad town, peach’s theme, twink’s theme, shy guys toy box, and lava lava island), Okami, and super Mario 64 (main menu, peach’s letter, peach’s castle, piranha plant lullaby) sometime.

I have a technical/musical question this time:
why the guitar?
In my mind guitar and harp kind of produce the same sort of sound, be it with a different vibe, the harp being more orchestral and ambient and the guitar being more of a solo instrument. But the timbre is similar, so much so that i couldn't distinguish them in the piece and that got me curious about your using both instead of simply doubling the harp as you do with the flute.
Thanks Idraote! I have to say I feel a little differently ^_^. To me the harp and acoustic guitar bring much different sounds. Harp is a more rounded mid-range sound whereas steel string is a sharp more piercing high sound. I like layering the two because they sound similar yet they bring a slightly different vibe to the lines :)
Search "wire strung harp" and you might get a better idea of what i mean!

I've been playing the flute since 2006 and I just can't wrap my fingers around keyless/keys with holes. I'd like to blame my small fingers but I'm sure it's something that is actually my fault 😅
