You are not incoherent at all my friend, your explanations are clear and easy to understand. Yes this control assignment is complex but it allows so much more fine tuning.
You are correct, it is not airborne geek that is incoherent, it is the subject he was kindly doing his best to explain. I am yet to find any of my other preferred channels that have been brave enough to take this subject on!
Thanks mate for making this video. Yeah, the whole thing scared me too when I first saw it. But hey, this is a new revolutionary Flight Simulator. Of course, there was going to be a new learning curve. You have to bite the bullet and watch as many tutorials, like this one, and learn a new way of doing things. As Airborne Geek said, stick with it and it will eventually all come together like a puzzle. Good luck to all of you who took the initiative to learn to fly in the first place.
You are a life saver! It took me an entire hour to setting up the control when I was in the MSFS2020, especially after getting used to the XPlane control setup. When I was finally able to launch the MSFS2024, it took me 2 hours, and I failed. The UI design is an absolutely nightmare, with over complicated control configuration logic. Yes, it is powerful if you understand it, but holy shit it's confusing af.
It's a horrible UI, very confusing, but at the same time, I still respect what Asobo was trying to do, which is give players an unprecedented level of customizability to the their controls. It's rather bittersweet in that regard. Thanks for posting this video, it was very helpful!
Bravo quadrant...lots of profiles, 737,777, Vulcan....not to mention helicopters and props, turbo props.....not going to get much flying done. Thanks for confirming it....gonna wear out the kettle while I sort this..... THANK YOU for your excellent and well explained guidance.
You were not incoherent. Your description matches my own experience as I discovered all this earlier today. Your video will be super helpful to those just getting started or struggling a bit. Nice job!
This was insane , the fact that the release was garbage and need to wait a day to play ,but when u finaly get in you'l need to go trough this nightmare😂
Let me be the first to thank you for a great and clear explanation, not withstanding a very timely video of the profile section of MSFS 2024. I managed to assign some profiles but didn't know a lot of what you have highlighted. Thank you again. Most appreciated.
Just like in Windows 11, Microsoft have the unique ability to change things that never needed changing. Maybe the Staff get paid based on the number of introduced confusing new features when the old ones worked fine ?
If it wasn't for you i'd still be staring at the start screen... Thanks for this video, it really helped. Well done, I am now subscribed! Enjoy your day...
The devs really wearnt thinking about the controls because the change from msfs 2020 controls were really easy but in 2024 the controls are just so complicated
Specific controls are controls prefixed "Specific" (like "General" and "Airplanes") and are present only for some aircrafts, like C172 G100, for example. These fall under "Not categorized" category:)
Thanks for moving onto helpful info. The throttle quadrant videos will be great. Currently the f18 throttles are very broken. I have all honeycomb products and quest3.
I agree with many others that you are not incoherent! You do a good job in your videos and I hope you continue to create new content as we all learn together. BTW, there is a way to import 2020 bindings into 2024. That may bring it’s own complications, but that’s Micro$oft for you.
Microsoft: WOW. MSFS2020 config menus was almost perfectly done and literally works perfect for PC, PC/HOTAS, CONTROLLER/CONTROLLER/HOTAS, and pretty much any combination you could ever imagine! Also Microsoft: Let's completely build that shit from scratch for MSFS2024 and completely ignore any previous builds.
I am suspecting they thought there are a lot more functions added in 2024 so lets categorize it, which is a good thought but the implementation is pretty bad haha
Thank you I understood very well but I have a Thrustmaster joystick my problem is when u use the throttle up or down it moves my rudders. Do you have any advice to fix this? Thank you and great video my friend 👍
Thank you very much for this easy explanation. So I also tried to figure out, what exactly falls under "specific controls". My first guess was that it has to be something related to "Controller Sensitivity Settings". Because you know, I don't want the same elevator sensitivity for GA and Airliners. But if you try to change the sensitivity on the default profile, it will prompt you to create a new "General Profile", which means that sensitivity falls under the category "General". I've watched multiple videos now about the control settings. Still no one could figure out what these sepcific controls are for.. I have a feeling that this is not implemented or maybe not finished yet..
May be yeah but you had a good guess there. I was thinking it is for the hook and stuff that is needed for the missions so I didn't care much about it. Nothing I setup has prompted to create a new specific profile anyway so hoping it doesn't interfere and I have to never think about it haha
Great video thank you for making it!! Just curious if you now how to get Track IR to work with the sim? I cannot seem to get it to work. Thank you again !!
Correct, so far that is what I am seeing as long as you apply that to all aircrafts. Still figuring things out but seems like you can assign different profiles to different aircrafts for both general and airplane. I am slowly starting to see why they did this but it still could have been done in an easier way.
i can bind under msfs2024 but when i go to fly, my joystick is unresponsive. i use a new winwing i just purchased. im not sure what i have to do there. there is no msfs24 profile, only msfs20 - support says i can use anything, but it doesnt make sense. i tried to set the package directory over the msfs20 profile but unsure what directory folder. when i hit RUN it doesnt go green. i was told by support i need the simappPro app running in the background. im so confused
Some good tips. Couple of confusing things: the categories are bad, so "toggle drone" is not in the camera/drone category. I had to search it. And it's not clear when controls are supposed to work. Toggle drone does not work when you are walking!
Yeah I saw that too..like the walkaround mode is completely different from any camera setup. Once you are there you are there. You can't use camera shortcuts in walkarouund..still playing with it
Very much appreciate this video. I played MSFS 2020 using only Xbox controller. However for 2024 I am using Thrustmaster airbus sidestick, keyboard, mouse! As you can imagine I still haven't a clue what I am doing. Should I only use sidestick for controlling the plane and leave camera functions, etc for Mouse, Keyboard. Does the side stick mappings on 2020 the same for 2024?
Check my camera setup video I think that definitely answers this. I use my gamepad solely for camera controls and everything else to fly. Sidestick I just assign aileron elevator and autopilot disengage butyon to keep it simple. May be a reset cockpit view somewhere on one of the stick buttons
GA single,GA twin(piston or turbine), jet single, jet twin, jet 3, or jet 4. But I would want one of these loaded depending on the aircraft . I'll watch for that video. That'd what I'm curious about. Thanks
2020 one was also not that easy but comparing it with 2024, omg was much much easier. i was busy for like 3 hours with my flight deck throttle and joystick and still adding things.. my god and this controls menu is even broken, it often switch profiles after a restart and the mouse movements inside the plane dies as soon touching the stick lol
I can't even figure out how to change those settings to begin with, on Xbox. I'm going to try it with my mouse and keyboard but this has been a frustrating thing to get set up
I’m on Xbox series x. I can use the mouse to articulate controls in the cockpit but its movement in look around is veryyy sensitive.. is that just a glitch? Because it like just goes crazy.
Hi all. Did you try to use Garmin G1000? Impossible to ''push'' with the mouse. The ''hand'' that is showed only permit to decrease/increase the values. Any hint ?
@francoisdyckmans1210 assign the press action to cockpit interaction secondary action under controls menu for mouse....for me right click is assigned to that secondary action and it works. Let me know how it goes
@@AirborneGeek you're right it works now using right button of the mouse. Pffff... 😥😥😥 Thanks a lot !!!!! Anyway do you have the feeling that it is normal to do all that so that the plane is flyable? Why not to have simply copied and paste MSFS2010 MMI.... 😡😡😡

Did you check the key binding and make sure the freelook assignments are not interfering with flight controls? You can easily do this by checking conflicts on flight controls
One question. I’m an Xbox player and I can’t find the controls for the in flight menu. For example to change the weather without exiting flight. How can I do that? Thanks.
To do this you need to enter cursor mode with RB + L stick click. Then, navigate up to a panel which will appear. This is like 2020. If you have a mouse peripheral, you can also just navigate up there the same way.
Does anyone have any tips on why my throttle controls are so delayed on Xbox controller? Like I’ll hold the button to decrease from 100% and it just goes way beyond what I wanted
@AirborneGeek yea, I'm holding out of refunding since mocrosoft is usually pretty good at fixing issues, but a couple days is to long for a game that just came out
I play from xbox and my free view camera in the cockpit using a mouse goes crazy.. it moves so fast it basically unusable.. i can’t understand how to fix it and it’s really annoying
This game is so buggy. Im on Xbox X. In the trim lesson for a pilot license I clicked on the trim wheel instead of using the button on the controller. Then it gave me instant full downward trim and I crashed. I guess I'll wait to buy this for now and instead just play the GamePass version.
Yeah this happened to me too...using a switch for trim or a wheel hardware is best...when I click on it it has too much sensitivity for little mouse movement
Unfortunately only solution I found was to just input opposite camera axis on keyboard or controller...that stops the drift. It happens only in outside view for me and I thought it might be my controller too so did not dig in much
Typical lazy programmers who design interfaces that works best for them and think end users are dumb for not understanding it! Seen it so many times in the airline industry
The UI is absolutely trash. Not only is it not intuitive, its obtuse. DCS is leagues better and its 20 years old. Pull up axis tune, you cant even see where your axis is at, just a graph, with no input shown. Hit a button it doesnt highlight where its assigned. Just a random button number. No way to even verify it without changing it.
@@AirborneGeek there doesnt seem to be an invert for my nose up nose down problem , no matterhow I set it , up/down down/up itstays the same - the inversion doesn't exist for this setting

Anyone solves the mouse spinning issue inside the cockpit on the xbox series
Freelokk speed to 15 might work
I play from xbox and my free view camera in the cockpit using a mouse goes crazy.. it moves so fast it basically unusable.. i can’t understand how to fix it and it’s really annoying
Change the freelook speed to a lower value in the camera settings in the dropdown from the top
Thank you, I tried that but it didn’t work, i think it’s a bug of some sort.
Wow ☹️ Unbelievable how these simple things are getting missed in final release
@@AirborneGeek yes indeed, in msfs 2020 was working just fine and i wish they left it as it was. But no, i’m hoping for a quick fix.
my free look cockpit camera in crazy. The mouse is super sensible and I can't use it. Reduced all sensibility but nothing seems to work. Anyone else?
Did you try reducing the freelook speed? Under camera options
@ all the way down. The mouse literally can’t be used on cockpit camera. I saw in some forums this is a known bug. At least on Xbox.
When a game gets hyped out so as much before its release 9 out of 10 it's a failure
Can I use PS5 controller?
@@yellowkid241 yes you can use that...xbox one works as well
@ ACC the furthest I got was just connected to my PC, it won’t show up in actual MFS 2024 as an option. And I am on Gamepass also not steam.
I hate this new process of setting up the controls
I think I stay with MSFS2020
More then 1 way they found a way to screw this game up
It's ridiculously insanely complex
Getting used to it slowly...my point is it didn't have to change at all this one thing haha
@@AirborneGeek no totally right why change ? Waste time on something when didn't need to and make it super complicated
How to activate IFR
Sorry I didn't understand
Anyone else having issues with camera drift? If so how to fix?
Unfortunately only solution I found was to just input opposite camera axis on keyboard or controller...that stops the drift. It happens only in outside view for me and I thought it might be my controller too so did not dig in much
Typical lazy programmers who design interfaces that works best for them and think end users are dumb for not understanding it! Seen it so many times in the airline industry
Yeah ui team has done a pretty bad job. Hope they fix it
The UI is absolutely trash.
I agree, I covered exactly that in the next video lol it is amazing how someone can sit and build this lol
Play spent too much time on this menu. Why to much stuff.
does somebody know how to uninvert my controls
Click on gear icon for that controls and set inverted axis
@@AirborneGeek thx
@@AirborneGeek there doesnt seem to be an invert for my nose up nose down problem , no matterhow I set it , up/down down/up itstays the same - the inversion doesn't exist for this setting
