I agree beauty has definitely taken a backseat in my life as well but you always are glowing in your videos! I do like these sit down and talk videos because I usually watch them/listen to them while doing other things. Hi Nikki, the corn tortillas are the best and so easy to make! And gluten free BTW. You can also use a ziplock bag cut it in half and make the tortillas using that. That way it's easier to separate from the plastic. That's how most Mexican do it.
And the lime that they use to soak the corn in its not lime (the fruit) but the lime they use in construction. But it is ok because after boiling it on lime they wash the corn. Some of my friends make the process from the beginning and those tortillas are even better!! You can make blue corn tortillas, yellow corn, white corn... oh my! So good. You have to try sometime.

In Mexico we use plastic bags instead of parchment paper and that makes the tortilla easier to lift/get

I relate to you so much! I wish I lived closer to you so we could be real life friends. I have a yorkie who could be besties with Zoe as well. I know exactly what you mean about straying away from beauty products. I used to have so many and did weekly spa nights at home with face masks and painting my nails. I haven’t painted my nails in years since living a more holistic lifestyle and I only use jojoba oil now to wash my face. You’d think I was saving money but instead I spend all my money on quality food, supplements and health gadgets (sauna, red light etc) LOL. Funny how our priorities change isn’t it

Corn tortilla tips: use hot water for your dough and they take 2 turns to cook. Turn the first time as soon as you can pick it up to turn it maybe 10-15 seconds later and second turn at 20-35 seconds. You will have softer tortillas that are easier to roll etc..

Ehhhh… good question. Lol I mean keep in mind I used an entire chicken and a hugeee pot of broth… but probably like 1/3 maybe even 1/2 of that Costco sized container of kimchi… and then probably like 1 teaspoon-ish of ginger! Don’t worry tho! I was afraid too cuz I’m kind of sensitive to those flavors but omg.. it didn’t matter cuz I just followed my gut and it came together perfectly! You’ve got this sista!👏🏻😌

The last 2 years has been pretty traumatic. I let myself go, I can relate to letting your health go. It wasn't until recently that I have looked at myself and thought of doing anything kind for myself. My beauty routine has consisted of castor oil and spf for years now.
Have you thought of using something like Locals? I know that Patreon has been inconsistent, especially when it comes to Cancel culture.

With all the health changes you’re getting back into I would suggest doing more research on essential oils. They’re pretty disruptive to your microbiome. Check out arielledemartinez on Instagram she has a lot of good info to at least consider. We never used them a ton, but no longer keep them in our home!
That’s so interesting! I’ve done research on them but is it bad to say I don’t entirely believe it all…? Lol…kinda like what I said in my diet chat recently, I follow a lot of how I feel in my body… that being said, I don’t use essential oils like people think I do… I use them actually pretty sparingly at this point… BUT I still use them regularly… I was diffusing lemon oil yesterday… I used a drop of peppermint in my mouth… my mother in law used a little eucalyptus the other day for her cough… I used some lavender lotion yesterday (very debated I know 🙈) but ya… that’s kinda where I’m at as of now! I hope you’ve felt better since your oils have been gone tho!
Intuition is definitely a factor in health decisions for our family! The info I’ve read against EO use definitely resonated with me. Some oils are very estrogenic and some act in the same way as an antibiotic would, and estrogen is in so many things we certainly don’t need more of that! Antibiotic overuse contributes to a lot of issues of the gut & we know the gut is important for many health factors. Lavender has been linked to abnormal breast tissue in boys. I feel like a lot of consumers blindly trust *certain* EO brands, but it’s just something to consider!
