I just wanted to join with some of the other comments in saying the deluxe Little Rock Study Bible (imitation leather) is a sewn binding.
I own the same bible myself and if you turn to genesis 18 and look in the gutter you will see stitches.
That bible is too big/heavy not to be sewn. I would consider amending this bible review as you really don’t want to give a potential buyer the wrong impression.
On a positive note, I am glad this bible got a review on youtube as it is really a good bible and the NABRE is a great translation.

I absolutely LOVE this Bible. The standalone volume with just the four Gospels actually got me started on the journey that will end - God willing - at my rite of confirmation in just under two weeks. One day I will replace my beaten up paperback copy with a nice leather bound edition.
(I bought it in Canada, so having the NABRE translation is also quite nice, as the RSV/NRSV is the 'official' translation in most of the Commonwealth nations, but the NABRE is a really good translation!)

Hi! I really enjoyed your excellent and very thorough review of the Bible.
I bought this Little Rock Catholic Study Bible just exactly like the one you have and I love it!!! I bought it last year.
I’m Catholic & I really appreciate the way this Bible is designed. It’s beautiful & chock full of special features!
Thanks for the wonderful review & sermon (LOL) 😉

I know this is a late comment to an older video but I want to say that this review, as well as the many comments that are against the translation and notes, actually convinced me to purchase a copy. I'm not one who believes every word must be literally taken or seen as "inerrant" and the "liberal" or historic notes are actually a big plus for me as they show things from a more critical perspective rather than a faith first perspective

I am aware that some of the contributors to this bible are considered liberal but I went ahead and purchased a copy knowing that fact! Readers should note that fact, too. I do not have a NABRE version of the bible so that was one reason I purchased it. I also liked some of the features of this bible that you pointed out in the video. I plan to compare the commentary in this bible with that used in the "Didache Bible" and the "Ignatius Press Catholic Study Bible New Testament" and the "Great Adventure Bible" RSVCE . Thanks much for your review.

Little Rock Catholic Study Bible shows a clear balance between scholarship and devotion, thanks to the "historical-critical" materials for understanding the context and for discipleship. Using the NABRE text (and the usual book introductions, the usual, so-called "liberal" footnotes, and the usual cross-references), the book is suitable for a private devotional Bible study. Additional in-text study materials lead us to connect the biblical times and modern times, to understand the context through the book introductions, and to connect the Bible with culture, archeology, liturgy, social justice, reflection, prayer, and application. The so-called "historical-critical" approach is the antithesis of biblical fundamentalism.
I had bought the hardbound copy of that book from Claretian Publications through a widely-known Philippine online shopping company and it has revived the spirit of Christian activism within this person.

So interesting to see that the Deluxe edition is glue-bound! It looks so much more expensive than that! It's my understanding that the hardcover is sewn binding - do you know if that's true?
EDIT: Would also love to see how you use cross references because I just don't get how to use them in study!

I'll consider if they release a new edition when NAB fixes the New Testament (last I heard a new, and hopefully faithful, revision to the NT is supposed to be released in 2025). Their time spent revising the NAB would have been better spent unbreaking the NT and Psalms than revising the entire OT while leaving the NT in ruins. I'm glad they fixed issues with inclusive language in the 1991 Psalms obscuring messianic typology ("son of man" replaced with "human being" for example), but there were always bigger fish to fry: The first best time to nix the 1986 NT revision was 1986 (preferably sometime before publishing), and the second best time is now. I'm blessed to have a NAB 1970 edition (basically the complete confraternity edition OT worked on through the 40s-60s with a new NT translation to match the style they adopted after Divino afflante spiritu) which is the only NAB I will ever recommend until they release another where NT no longer contains notes openly hostile to the faith. (Notes on Matt 16, for example, claim that Jesus didn't know about his passion before hand. A steel man argument might have said that they merely meant the specific form in Matthew was developed or glossed, but this defense is shown to be spurious by following this stunning claim with another that it's merely "probable Jesus may have anticipated his ministry would involve suffering and perhaps death, while hoping to eventually be vindicated in some way by God". Paraphrased from memory, but that's substantially accurate.)

@@rightlydividing7607 I know that someone who hasn't read the Gospel would throw out that trope It clearly states that the Concepción of Jesus is of the Holy Spirit of God through Mary, Joseph under the law of Moses is Jesus legal Father Joseph in the line of David and there by his decent and is the root and offspring of David. See Matt.1-18-25.also See John 1:1-6. also if you have a CCC 109-111 also so that you understand me I have the older version of the NAB but I mainly use the RSV CE and the RSV CE 2 and I have other Catholic Bibles including DR. There is not much catholic in this bible. NT commentaries are overscholarly. It even tells that canticle of mary is a novella from OT. The genesis creation is also intrepreted as an ancient folk or myth.Im planning to buy a life application study bible even though its protestant..There is not much on sacrements and commentaries are just bland and useless..

I'm not a fan of the NABRE footnotes/commentary. It uses the "historical-critical" method, used by non-religious secular scholars. To make matters worse, the publisher of the translation requires that the footnotes and commentary be published with the text, no exceptions. So, you can't get an NABRE without them. Every NABRE is required to have them. The footnotes in this Bible are the exact same ones in both of my NABRE Bibles, including the little barebones paperback edition my parish gives to R.C.I.A. Look at the footnote for Matthew 21:7, " [21:7] Upon them: upon the two animals; an awkward picture resulting from Matthew’s misunderstanding of the prophecy." Matthew's misunderstanding of the prophecy?? Wow! Such irreverence, disrepect, and arrogance. And this is what we're handing to new catholics? There is a clear bias against, and sometimes rejection of, the magisteral teaching of Deu Verbum within these footnotes and commentary.

A VERY expensive bible at about $90. Also, the commentators (Hoppe, Senior, Nowell, et al) in this bible are VERY liberal and that should be noted. I would NOT buy this bible! The Didache and the Ignatius seem to be more for advanced readers who have a grasp of both catechism and dogma, some canonical law as well as some basic theological knowledge.
