You're covered. Metallica was in Finland in 1988 and there's an interview where Lars meets the guys from Stone, tells he has heard of the band and gives a speech about honesty: "Metallica & Stone Rockstop 1988 (Finnish television)". For the sake of linking things; if you're interested in listening an album song from Stone, I recommend their song 'Brain Damage'. First they cause the brain damage and then they reflect on it. 'The Day of Death' is also a refreshing song.
Stone was pioneer of Finnish trash/speed metal and boy where they effin talent at that time, well ahead of compiting bands.
Like others have said, this was something I would have never expected to happen. There are not too many positive things to say about this singer, and these vocals were the total turn off for me back in the days. After all these years, I can now actually listen to this band, and appreciate their music. Even that I was a guitarist myself, and I had already listened bands like Slayer, Sepultura and Megadeth (and Metallica of course) at that time, I still couldn't get over this kind of singing. So I was never too much into Stone myself, but they do have some really awesome guitar stuff, and they have influenced the whole Finnish metal scene.
I like thrash metal and I don't generally like clean singing. This is one of the best thrash metal songs ever made. Love Oceanborn, that was one of the albums that got me into metal at 11-12yo - That being said, I don't like any of the Nightwish albums after that lol
I was on this concert in Tallinn, it was amazing at this time, and lovely to watch now.
