Dear Mehmet, I bought my first Istanbul cymbal in 2006, and the second I hit that traditional 10" splash, I started replacing every zildjian on my set. I've been exclusively using Istanbul since 2007 and will never use anything else. Istanbul is the absolute in cymbals.

Mehmet worked for zildjian Istanbul so he must of learned alot. I had the great opportunity when I was a young drummer back in the 1970's to play on TURKISH made zildjians here in the United States and I'm not lying. They sounded just as good as the American made ones. 🤘

Would not get my hopes up, going there, but got no response from Istanbul Agop regarding factory tours or showrooms.

Correction: They did respond, but do not do factory tours as of this time.

I wonder how the agop brand from the two sons became far more popular than Mehmet's brand. His stuff is very very good. Just as good as theirs

ted tedsen I’m pretty sure they are the same company but their concepts are different. I think Agop are brighter side of the Istanbul series, and Mehmet the darker side.

Correct, the guys who started instanbul worked for the Zildjian company in Turkey until the plant was closed in 1977. In 1981, Instanbul was born.

Zildjian abandoned any and all tradition when they moved to the US. Agop and Mehmet kept it alive
