I originally tried to buy a submariner but was treated awfully by the minimum wage shop assistant at the Rolex AD. I then went to an omega AD and was treated like a king and walked out with the blue seamaster.I’m glad I did,the blue with bits of red just pops and omega have a loyal customer for life.

the 90's version bracelet was narrower, and did not seem to be designed to look flat like the newer ones are. They are made to resemble tank tracks in my opinion. These bracelets were actually made in France.

My daily piece is a Omega SMPc 300. Waveless dial in black. Personally love the uniqueness of the HE valve and bond bracelet. Sets apart from every other watch on the market and I love that. The newer iterations are a bit flashy with the waves and oversized for most individuals. Wish they would step it back to 40 or 41mm like the good old days…

  • @brandontran4180

I have the midsize Goldeneye SMP 300 and I love it! It really is a unique dive watch due to the wave dial, HE valve, scalloped bezel and 5 link bracelet. I thought I would hate the bracelet but I think its one of the most comfortable. That diver's extension is amazing. The bezel action for my watch is good but it can be hard to grip at times. The HE valve doesn't bother me at all. Sure, its useless to most people but I find it charming. The James Bond connection is a big reason why i like the HE valve. It can't be denied that the Omega Seamaster Professional has massive cool factor. The value is also a big contender. It's not for everyone but the fans REALLY like it

Bezel action is important, lume but overall the functionality, performance and comfort of the bracelet is problably like on the top of items to worry about when purchasing any watch. @@BrittPearceWatches for the price of an Omega, the bracelet should be their immediate concern in terms of finishing, wearability, functionality and long term durability. If you look at Christopher Ward, their bracelets seems pretty solid given the price point of the watches they offer.

Great review Britt, as always. Anti reflective coating on the outside isn’t a great feature, aids in clarity, but it will scratch if you’re heavy handed with your watches. Helium Escape valve, decisive as it is, if it wasn’t there the Seamaster would loose some of it’s identity. Bracelet, NEEDS TO TAPPER!!!! All said and done love the SMP 300. Desperate for a reissue of the 2254.50 though. Cheers

Hi Britt, first off congratulations on your upcoming addition to the family. It is life changing and in a great way. Now for the Seamaster. I recently bought one and absolutely love it for a couple of reasons. It’s a dive watch and it looks like one and feels like one. I like the non tapered bracelet since if it was tapered it would not look right. Not sure why you don’t like the bezel but it’s fine. You have to get used to the scalloped edges but once you do it works perfectly. The biggest reason to buy any Omega is that when you walk into an AD or better yet a boutique you get treated with respect and not distain. My Omega boutique is directly across the street from a Bucherer boutique and when I looked at used Rolexes for 150% of retail, they treated me like crap and even when I could buy any of the watches they had. Omega was completely different, we were taken to a private area and everything about buying experience was great. Oh and the dial is spectacular. I have the polar Seamaster and I can’t stop looking at it. It wears great and I have no buyers remorse. In fact we will be buying each of our sons a Seamaster in the next few months. Is it perfect no, but the experience and the quality of the watch are really second to none which needs to be celebrated given Rolex’s arrogance. Again congratulations on both your recovery and your upcoming family addition. Love your channel.

Bought this in black over 2 years ago. I love this watch and wear it almost every day. The bracelet isn’t my favorite style but it is very comfortable and functional. It doesn’t look big at all on my 7 1/4 in wrist. It has been 2 seconds fast per day over 2 years. The bezel takes some getting used to but slides easily under a cuff. The helium escape valve is unnecessary but you don’t notice it when on wrist. Great watch for the price.

The Helium escape valve has always been a bit of a problem few of us divers will get to use it for it’s intended purpose. That being said it’s still good to have it ,it’s part of its DNA now. Up side is it’s less obtrusive now that they’ve made it conical in shape .as for the bracelet yes they could do better on many levels a slight tapering would help ,but from a production point of view more work more expensive.

The diver 300m (in blue) is my second luxury watch purchase with the 1st being the latest iteration of the speedy pro (sapphire sandwhich) so I guess this makes me now an official Omega fanboy; or one in the making. With that said, although I don’t have a ton of experience (but have spent a lot of time watching and reading up on reviews and trying on watches) I have to say this watch, in my humble opinion, is striking. It has presence, without being too beefy. It’s thick, but considering it’s a diver with sapphire crystal, I believe 13.6mm is an impressive size. The dial, I’ve found to be gorgeous. You hear people say it’s a chameleon and it’s true. Depending on the lighting conditions this dial completely changes from a dark navy to light blue and even appears almost midnight blue in darker conditions. Being a teen of the 90s and and growing up loving the tag s-link integrated bracelet, I have to say this watch also has an iconic style. I also purchased the rubber strap with the omega buckle clasp and this totally adds to the sportiness of the design and transforms the watch. If people have issues with the band, that’s probably the easiest fix and mod you can perform on a watch. I find the bracelet, along with the helium escape valve, skeletonized hands, and dial gives this watch so much character it really stands out from the crowd. One final note, there’s another popular UA-cam influencer who has the diver 300m and wears the heck out of the watch who hasn’t had any issues with the coating. So, maybe it depends on how the user wears the watch and if the dial gets a hard direct hit. something to take note of, for sure, but it sounds as though it’s a very superficial marking that you really need to look hard to find. I feel if you’re on the fence to buy this watch, go for it. Chances are, you won’t regret it. Love your channel and reviews, hope your healing process goes quickly and you’re doing and amazing job putting out new content!

I bought my omega Seamaster 300 back in 2004, and it was my first luxury dive watch purchase. I’ve never had any issues with the anti-reflection coat at all. And I’ve never had any other type of issues with it. Also it is about 39 mm in size which goes well with my small wrist. I wish companies would stop just making giant 42 mm dive watches.

I have been wearing seamasters for years, and have come to appreciate the look of it. Obviously there is no realistic function to it, but I like that characteristic of the seamaster diver. If you don't like it, Omega offers the aqua terra or rail master for you! Also, I think the bezel action is fantastic, it sounds and feels crisp. This convinced me that the Rolex Submariner can be priced at most 20% to 30% higher for the better bracelet and marketing efforts. No way double the price of this Seamaster!
The helium escape valve is just a Seamaster historical signature and not ugly or inappropriate. Why insist on removing it?

    • @fj7509
      @fj7509 3 місяці тому +1

It's not just the bracelet and marketing.
The Submariner is better in almost every regard. I’ve owned both for several years, and a lot of this is objective. The others who get defensive when I list the reasons are either mad that they can’t get a Submariner from an AD or want to convince themselves the Seamaster is equal at a cheaper price point which it isn't. It IS a substitute. However, it is not a better watch from a practical, wearable standpoint.
Starting outside and working our way in, the Submariner is thinner and slides under a cuff with ease. The lug to lug is WAY more manageable (lug to lug of the Seamaster is the same of an Explorer 2 which is absurd). The clasp is not as bulky, and using the extension system does not lengthen the clasp. These are important because you don't want to catch your wrist on a doorframe with a watch this large. The bezel action is far superior whereas the scalloped bezel is hard to turn. The platinum inlay is higher quality. If you look at the SMP enamel up close you notice all the holes throughout the material, it's porous looking. The platinum inside the Rolex bezel does not fade over time, so it is equal to enamel in this regard. The Rolex bezel is a 10, the SMP bezel is a 6.5.
The SMP bracelet is really bad and pulls hair. It also doesn’t have any taper. Your only alternative is the rubber strap which feels a lot better but doesn't have a deployment clasp, it's a pin buckle. The deployment clasp is another 500 DOLLARS... For a SS Deployment clasp lol. The outer AR coating scratches and when it does, it looks ugly. Most importantly, the skeleton hands lume sucks. It fails it’s only role as a dive watch because the lume on the green minute hand dies far before the blue indices do, and it's something none of the reviews say for some reason.
As for movements, the Rolex has a much better power reserve. The Rolex is also more accurate. Omega accuracy is guaranteed to 0/+5 seconds per day. That is a 6 second window. The Rolex accuracy is guaranteed to +2/-2 (a 5 second window). Don't forget that the Rolex accomplishes this with the use of a traditional Swiss lever which is way more impressive AND a less complicated movement than the co-axial. The Rolex movement will beat at 8hz while the Omega beats at a choppy 7bph. This is the most important part about the movement because it's something you can see throughout daily wear. The Omega hands will never be as smooth and the model doesn't even trade better power reserve for it. The service intervals are going to be the exact same with the Rolex costing slightly more which doesn't make sense because the whole point of the co-axial is to have a longer service interval.
Lastly, people will throw the METAS certification like it automatically makes the Omega movement better. It doesn't. Most of Tudor uses movements that are METAS certified now. You know who the parent company of Tudor is...? Rolex. If Rolex gave a shit about some METAS certification, all their movements would pass with flying colors. But Rolex is a company that prefers to do everything in house, down to the bracelets and screws, and that includes their own certification which is the superlative.
The Rolex is more refined and most who own both agree with this; I can actually wear it on my smaller wrist and it doesn't look like a kid trying to wear a G-Shock.

This year I bought one, I got the green one and I got to this conclusions:
    - The bezel is nice and it’s not that hard to use as people say ( even in the wet ).
    - The watch doesn’t feel as thick as people think. At least 2 mm are parte of the case back which in my wrist just disappear so the watch doesn’t feel thin, but it doesn’t feel like a “thick” watch either.
    - The bracelet is extremely solid. It’s thick, it’s sturdy and the clasp works like a charm, it shimmers under the light so nicely and it ends up looking so nice. Nonetheless because of all of what I have just said, I think if your worst is under 7 inches it can make the watch feel very heavy and bulky at time to time.
I love divers, and, although I love the design of the Submariner, sometimes i think is such a boring watch compared to the Seamaster ( as many divers are ). The lugs, the bezel and the bracelet just makes it so unique, so specific, so elegant, so gracious… in my opinion, a Seamaster is way more a competitor to something like a FF competitor rather than a Submariner competitor.

I have this exact watch on both bracelet and strap. First, the rubber strap SAVES this model. It’s fitted, it tapers, it’s high quality (titanium inside the keeper and triangle rubber pin so second keeper does not slide). Beautiful. Bracelet: could it taper? Yes. Just look at the Lange Odysseus. It’s this exact design with the taper. But that in itself is not a deal vreaker, and to be fair the look is unique, and I like that. You don’t need to have a 3 link boring bracelet like everyone. But this could be a “jubilee” more dressy option, and Omega could offer something sportier as well. The main sin that goes unaddressed is the thickness of the links. That is what hurts the proportions. Look at a Cartier Santos and how slim the bracelet is, and even a Rolex oyster looks thick. Jewelers beating the watchmakers once more. Proportion, proportion, proportion. Jewelers get that. In this regard, the watch should be thinner. Period. Omega had a 11mm watch in the 90s versions, with the ultra thin 1120 ETA that is sexy as they come. So don’t tell me in 2023 they have to make this thing. They do it because they want to. And the escape valve, fine, don’t mind, just tuck it in like the earlier versions. And we make all these observations because we love Omega, they are beautiful and can make all these things happen and we want to stop getting abused by Rolex 😂

I was ready to retire it and get a Seadweller Redline and was told if I bought 5k of jewelry I didn’t want I would be placed on a waiting list. Screw them. So I had the Subbie completely redone with a new bracelet. It looked brand new. It just didn’t scratch the itch. So I started looking for something else and found that there are watches out there that are just plain better than the crown. I saw this Omega on line and read all I could find. Sure the Blancpaine Fifty Fathoms is absolutely wonderful, but the 300m was just so damn beautiful. I went to Richmond last August, walked into Schwartchilds and told the girl I wanted a blue dial 300m. I was treated like a king and 15 minutes the decision was made. I absolutely love wearing this watch and the Subbie has now been retired. I have learned this about Rolex, most people buy one for the “effect” it has on other people. Many think it will open doors, cause people to whisper behind their hand, or kick the dirt because they don’t have one, when in all actuality they don’t give a shit what you have on your wrist. Go try on a Sub then try the 300and buy the watch for you not for some bullshit status symbol. My farm watch is a G Shock and it’s a fantastic watch, just love it. Last thought, in the 30 plus years I wore the Rolex the one comment I heard the most was, “Man, is that real or a fake?” So buy what you want.

I love Omega watches I own a vintage seamaster and a speedmaster , but I also owned the seamaster pro when it first came out with the co axial movement but sadly sold it and totally regretted it. So last year I went to buy a SMP but tried on the Tudor BB and actually went with the BB due to the Omega looking way too glossy with all that ceramic, its actually lost its tool watch feel I would love to see it come back just like the sword hand variant ( also nearly bought off eBay but wife told me to buy a new model then I know its not a fake ) to me the sword hand SMP looked great

That was a very good review on an almost great watch. I am a big Omega fan and have owned two of the Seamaster 300 models.
She touched on the bezel but the problem I've experienced is you can't grip and turn the bezel when your hands are wet, this is a problem for a dive watch. The other issue that I experienced is debris will get beneath the bezel and lock it up.
My other issue, and this personal preference not a problem, is why are there polished links in the braclet? This is a dive/tool watch, not a dress watch.
How did I resolve these issues? I now have and love the Seamaster Planet Ocean in the 39.5mm case.

Britt, stop apologising about your jaw surgery. It's nothing to apologise for and it's hardly noticeable any more! 😘 And didn't you already talk about James Bond by saying you would not? 😄 I love this watch, except for "the valve". It's just like a huge wart on an otherwise perfect face! 🙈

If she doesn't mention it the comment section will be full of people complaining about why she doesn't open her mouth and speak properly.

Baaah! It’s always a hard one! I feel like I’m being redundant for the regular viewers, but if I don’t preface it, there will be a lot of confused new people. 🤣🤣 I think I’m nearly at the point where I don’t need to say it anymore! My jaw movement is getting better every week! 💕✨
