You aren't stupid at all, you are exactly correct the ghoul at the end is the cowboy from the beginning of the episode. You were also correct in guessing why he was being looked down upon by the dads at the party.
Don't worry if the last 15 minutes with the ghoul seemed confusing, his backstory gets shown a lot more in the coming episodes.
In the Fallout universe, the bombs dropped on October 23, 2077. So, about 50 years in the future, but, in an alternate universe.
We're in that alt universe
@futurepastself2777 We didn't invent the transistor, but advanced in medicine and nuclear tech?
What part of "alternate universe" confuses you?? It's obviously not OUR real universe. You trying to apply our real world knowledge to a fictional alternate reality is just you being ignorant and TRYING to find something to complain about.
@Mascifin And I guess the 50s fashion and design stuck around lol.
@@cjstats1514 Well yes, because back in the 50's no one ever so much as even imagined that their aesthetic would NEED to change. To US it looks retro and dated or whichever word you want to use, but at the time it was state of the art.
The fallout universe is an alternate where the 50's aesthetic never went out of style, and the world went all in on nuclear powered everything.
Its the future they dreamed of, in the 1950s, basically. They are living in Isaac Asimov's near future.
Additionally, transistors never really took off, which is why most of the tech runs off vacuum tubes instead. The Fallout tech also burns oil and fossil fuels at about 3 times the rate we do in reality, which sets the stage for the constant resource war that pushed the world to war.
After that, throw in aliens, cosmic abominations, and the idea that radiation is more magical and you basically have the building blocks of the ridiculously insane, but really fun and interesting world. The music still brings up memories from all the Fallout games. Even with the slight deviations from the lore, I liked this series a ton.
Retro-future is the word you’re looking for. The opening scene is set in an alternate 2077.
As opposed to our real 2077?
Yes, a 2077 in which technology develloped differently from the 1950's on and the culture and asthetic remained verry similar to that erra.
It's not what our earth will be in 2077.
It's atompunk.
Just to clarify things, Fallout is set in the future of an alternate timeline where history took a different turn just after World War Two. The first big difference is that the transistor wasn't invented in 1947 (like it was in our world).
After that, they didn't have the social upheavals of the 60s, so the ideas and attitudes of the 50s didn't change; if anything, they got stronger. Instead of Detente and Perestroika, they got the Cold War getting colder and colder, until the dam burst in 2077.
so i am super dumb but genuinely curious. what does the transistor do in our tech that it doesnt do in theirs? because they figured out robots and stuff. is that why the UI is like old school on the pc terminals and the tv's are that way?
@@johnmarston3232 Size and amount of transistors has changed maybe they got a 1000 to build a logic circuit for the pip boy to do what it does while are most advanced cpus have millions (trillions?) Of transistors at this point.
"Maybe he's scrappy." That legit made me laugh. Great reaction, Blu.
I kept my expectations for this series low, but I have to say it exceeded every single one of them. Is it perfect? No, but it's still does a damn good job at feeling like Fallout.
Same. I came into it with "Just don't screw it up". There are a few lore and location things wrong, but it's largely nitpicking. Overall I'm impressed and very much looking forward to Season 2.
In all the games, the vaults aren't connected at all. This is the first time the connected vaults are shown.
There are several factions/groups of people on the surface, each of them unique and with their own goals. Raiders are from the surface. Brotherhood of steel are a military group focused on maintaining order their own way.
22:55 you mean prim and proper?
The ghoul is the cowboy at the start, he said "cowpoke" and is wearing a cowboy style outfit. Humans who got exposed to radiation too much and didn't die can turn into ghouls, they have a much longer lifespan than regular humans. Most of them however are feral ghouls, they lost their intelligence and become animalistic. Those that retain their mind are called non-feral ghouls like that cowboy.
Yes a lot of elements in the show are inspired from the game, like doing quests and choice-based scenarios like what Moldaver gave.
You're smart and thoughtful. Even when you are unfamiliar with a franchise/story, you have quality educated guesses. I don't see that often. It's refreshing to see.
In the Fallout Timeline the world i more futuristic with robots, laserguns etc, but the society is still like the 50s. Retrofuturistic atomic-age^^
Aka Atom Punk as I've heard it described
The world is what science fiction movies and books were describing in the 1940-50. Atom power for everything, robots, amazing technology but all this without the modern electronic that we have today. This is where they found the inspiration for Fallout.
This series was SO much better than I was expecting!
Same, I'm a massive fallout fan but I was expecting this show to be flaming garbage. I've never been happier to have been so wrong. Amazing show
@@Micheal123mil I dont think you are fallout fan. it could be much much better . give this series Denis Villeneuve you will see what is real series is
It's, average, we are so used to garbage shows and movies these days we will take anything looking decent.
@NecramoniumVideo , or you're extremely picky and spoiled. Therefore. movies and t v shows don't meet Stupidly high criteria😂😂😂
This show was a banger with all the eastereggs relating to the games
Walt Goggins is excellent in this. And I thought the little actress who plays Lucy also does a terrific job.
This reaction was edited very well together, kept all the important parts, and if I had not watched this full episode earlier, I would have wanted to watch it to get filled in on all the story parts. Really hope this works out on UA-cam for you Blu. Looking forward to future episodes, it gets even better 😊😊😊
The first part of this episode brought me back to my Gen-X childhood, especially the part about the thumb and cloud size. Whether it would be better to survive or be directly under the warhead was a regular topic of debate among the kids when I was in elementary school.
USA were allies of communism, they helped them to win WW2 and then let them take many countries. If they were enemies the war would not be cold. You had nothing to be scared of.
your the last person i expected to react to fallout, nice surprise, love your voice for some reason. 😀
Already binge watched the whole thing. Gotta say the music for this show is top notch! Enjoy the show, Blu!
you're doing a full reaction? yay! I would love to see more of these.
i've already seen it on two other react channels but I'm still watching yours. :)
Yeah, a few others have also mentioned it but this is set in the future Blu. Even before the Nukes fell. You may have missed it, but there's a very quick panning shot with the Home Robots that this franchise uses. It was the year 2077 when we see the Nukes fall. The visual is meant to showcase how people from the 1950's believed the future would look like. Remember, Back to the Future showed the year 2015 with hover technology; self drying and self adjusting clothes. WE however are still WAY too far off for stuff like that. That being said, $50 for a Pepsi....we're almost there right now. lol
Great video! I look forward to watching the rest of the Fallout episodes with your reactions 😊
The guy at the end was the cowboy from the start, the radiation turned him into a ghoul. Ghouls heal off radioactive energy so they are tough to kill and live extremely long.
No longer lore akkurate now everyone turns into a ghoul
@@DarkMaze-bd4ov True but they still can turn into a ghoul that way
What happened to Janey his daughter? They go riding off together on the horse but I doubt they outrun those atomic blasts.
@@FlamingoKicker idk, but the fact that shes not with him certainly explains his behavior
It's called "retro future," Fallot takes place in a universe where the fifties aesthetic carried through to the future.
Not what I expecting, I’m excited for more I can’t wait! ❤
Well done Blu fox this format/reaction was good and glad it's here on YT, on to ep 2! Bye
The Fallout universe has the same history as ours right up until the end of WWII. Then it changes drastically. They never invented the semiconductor like we did until about 2067. That's why you see the electronics have vacuum tubes. When the bombs fall in the beginning it's 2077, so now it's 2296. The design for Fallout is retro-futuristic, basically how people in the 1950's saw the future being is what it actually ended up being.
great reaction Blu ill be here through your watch of the show🥰
you said you might be confused (especially towards the end) but all your observations are spot on
In this universe, the transistor was never invented, so everything still uses vaccum tubes, which is why computers are so big, and after World War 2, nuclear power went in a different direction and was expanded on so most of everything runs off of nuclear energy even the cars.
Woohoo!Series reaction from Blu!!!!
BluTube, I really enjoyed this video, so I hit the like button!
21:44 “Am I just stoned?” - Green Day / Basket Case
Hell yeah, love your videos Blu
Amazing that you're reacting to this ❤🎉❤
In the Fallout universe, the microprocessor was not developed. That’s why all the technology seems to be so retro.
Blu is so cute and innocent. She has no idea of the fallout lore from the games, but hopefully this show will convince her to play the games for in depth story.
Great reaction.blu💙
Very good reaction Blu, and great observations for someone who hasn't played any fallout games. Please keep watching. And since you seemed to have given up on GTA5 (which I loved watching you play) it may be time to start playing Fallout4.
Now you are young, to those of us growing up during The Cold War that intro is what we feared would happen- every day. But we lived our lives. When I teach my The History of The Cold War classes, I always start by showing them a five minute video of nuclear explosions with eerie music, to make your generation understand what it all was- and what you will have to get used to again with Putoloni's sabre-rattling (though he is too much of a coward to do it).
About the "Wild" cars. The game is set in an alternative timeline, where the transistor was never invented, so everything used vacuum-tubes like early computers. And thus the timeline starts diverging from ours in the year after WW2, and progress is generally much slower. But there is also no Cuban Missile Crisis, Long Island, etc, and no reckoning with its past, so the US carries on in a sort of Truman-Eisenhower Superamerica with nuclear powered cars, etc. But in the 21st century fossil fuels and other resources starts running out, and The Resource Wars starts; where Europe, Africa and The Middle East is torn apart, and China invades Alaska to get the last remaining oil resource on the planet. And in 2077... Boom.
And oh yea, the US turns authoritarian semi-Fascist, a bit like Starship Troopers.
Anyway, think of the game and series as set in a sort of retro-futuriatic post apocalypse, IE a future as imagined in the fifties, but then add a nuclear exchange of superpowers.
"I wonder if its on the game" (referring to weird thing like cousin stuff)
...and I was like "Nah, not JUST that. There will be more weird thing in the game"
Remember the rule with a ghoul. Once you go leather, you'll never find better.
I just realized the reason Vault Boy is always giving the thumbs up is because he's showing you the technique the Ghoul showed his daughter for measuring the distance of a nuclear blast. 😂😃👍
Blu saying that Monty might be "scrappy" and describing Cartman as "rambunctious" give her a quaint, anachronistic charm.
The post war look is based on a 1950's idea of what the future would look like. Micro processors hadn't been invented so things (like pit boys are much bigger than an i phone) are both more modern and advanced and also look primitive.
Great reaction as always Blu, it looks like a good show for a first episode. It reminds me of the 1999 movie "Blast from the Past" with Brendan Fraser, Alicia Silverstone, Christopher Walken and Sissy Spacek. It's very similar, but without all the doom and gloom because its a comedy. 🙂
Hey Blu, Great Reaction🥳
You are such a sweet soul! I love listening to you
Good series. The overtones of The Good, he Bad, and the Ugly in the first ep is a nice touch. Jonathan Nolan makes great shows. Westworld and Person of Interest were created and written by him. He's executive producer on Fallout and also has directing and writing credits.
Ayooo did not expect this! Let's go!
The tern is retro-futuristic. And others talked about the "aethsethic" but its really that the transistor was never invented, but atomic power was everywhere.
Excellent reaction vid. Its a very good series and is pretty fair to the game as well.
Playing Fallout 4 for a few hours would be a great introduction but not necessary the series explains all very well
Lucy is some what socially awkward, and the vault 33 people are very proper and cordial in their interactions.
Yay more videos.🎉
Oh sweet! You finally reacted to thid!
Prepare to be utterly bamboozled. This show and the games are full of insane twists.
Hey Blu, awesome reaction always good seeing Dune's Kyle MacLachlan in this. Never saw this show. Have a good one.
In the fallout universe the bombs dropped in 2077 and the style is what people back in the 1950s thought it would be like in the future and there are no gasoline powered things in the fallout universe to my knowledge. Everything is nuclear powered as far as I know.
The term you were searching for early in your video is Atom Punk. It's a subgenre of Cyberpunk that uses futuristic stylization of the Cold World era 50/60's.
I never binge watch but after this episode I watched them all I love the retro future type movies
You're So innocent lol adorable. Love yoir reaction to this.
The show makes me want to go back and replay the games. Hope everyone has an amazing day.
I appreciate the full out commentary. I think you’re on quit with a lot of stuff that’s happening in the shell I love watching prime video to.
Very sharp guessing about the Ghoul..
2:40 I heard the term for it was called Future Retro if that's what you're talking about. Like it's set in the future but has a retro feel
I expensively played a couple fallout games and this show does it justice pretty well. I give it a solid 8/10
wow i didnt know this movie came out. ive played plenty of fallout and i havnt heard of this movie. thanks for making a movie about it. Raven
Are you trolling?
@@wooshbait36 how is that trolling? just saying this was the first time i have heard there was a fallout movie made. Raven
@@RavenKitten Yikes
Wow this is great!
I am glad you are watching something
dig the reaction and nice posture!
Fun fact: Kyle Maclaughlin (The Overseer/Father) beat Mega Man.
Also, w00t for Bonzo Madrid from Ender's Game being in this! Now, I really want to see this!
Ive watched the first 3 eps. Its really great and moving along nicely. I plan to watch 2 eps a night now. One just isn't enough its so good.
Would totally watch you play any Fallout Blu.
the fallout universe is huge so the main factions we have in this so far are raiders, ghouls, brotherhood of steal, vault dewlers, enclave which is kinda like goverment orintated / part of brothood of steal but not really and just reuglar wasteland wanderers and sruvivors there all in this show lol pretty crazy cant wait for season 2
I just found your channel and I don't want to be disrespectful but I would pay to hear you say "UwU" my God, that voice ✨
22:50 I would describe the vault members as idealistically naive.
25:23 Nope, you're 100% correct. That is the cowboy actor from the beginning.
I think Blu needs to play Fallout on her Twitch channel.
I'm a huge fan of the Fallout series, but wasn't really excited about this show. After watching the trailer I was curious. Watched this episode and really liked it. Want to watch the rest of them now but haven't had the time yet.
i had to rewind that "cousin stuff" line 3 times, and put on closed captions cuz i wasnt sure if i heard it right.
Heard this series is very good, might watch it later.
throughout the entire video I wanted to just tell this girl to relax and sit back 😅
I hope she keeps watching each episode
💙It was pretty cool
Oh you're in for a treat
"She's happy with it so that's all that matters!"
Is it though? Is that really all that matters?
Good morning. Good reactionInteresting show hopefully play game someday
I'm thinking about buying a Yamaha System What's the best surround sound system on the market Today
In the beginning coopers daughter should’ve went blind as soon as the nuke went off but it’s just a little detail, great show altogether tho
Dang Blu ain't even watch it yet 😂😂 She was quick with this one 😂
This show exceeded all expectations
Radioactive rain will make all the job
Drawing a picture using telegraph is wild. I don't think maximus did it. I got no proof of that but I don't think so.
It actually helps you enjoy something if you never played the game in this modern era of Hollywood. No lore bias.
Oooh fall out! Nice
I cried like a baby when that little girl asked about her thumb...
"oh, the guy!" (4:36)😅/ "happy for it,,, that's all that matters,," comment😂/ "taser bullet"😂/ "shovel hits head" reaction😅/ "typical society" comment🤭/ "how's your nose", Blu: "fine"😊/ Blu hearing a song (Johnny Cash)🤭/ "companion?"😊/ "stiff,,, preppy,,," comment🙂/ "you guys are so slow"😅
So cute watching you trying to figure out a movie based on a video game that I don’t think you’ve ever played.
Loving it
I'm sure its already been said, but in the lore of fallout, the bombs dropped in 2077. The future in the fallout universe evolved to be what people imagined it would be like in the 50's. Very retro sci fi. Silly robots, talking brains in jars, crazy mutants. stuff like that.
The word for it just rolls off the tongue: Post Apocalyptic Retro Futurism. Basically, this is the future that people in the 1950s dreamed of that came true, then ended in nuclear war.
You are correct the ghoul is the guy from the start. Probably the best character in the show 👌
sucks that Blu's Ted reactions were taken down.
we are a long way from finale
Fallout has a lot of gore. I mean you even can skill that you critical hits make the limbs exlode. Its a big part of fallout and they hat to make it gory af.
Everything will be explained
Dane, the trooper that had their foot and leg cut is They / non-binary.. name is Xelia Mendes-Jones. 👍🏻
First time I caught your reaction channel.. I like how you pause between sections to discuss things as opposed to just talking over it to try and speak your mind AND pay attention. Means you miss less details which is awesome 👏🏻👏🏻
well that’s it Blu.. you’re gonna have to play Fallout 4 now 🤘😎
You have good intuition. Trust your gut more.
