God bless your "voyage my brother I'm Puerto Rican in Florida to make an attempt a sail from Dominican republic to Puerto Rico takes a lot of guts Have fun be safe and God bless again 🙏 Love music at 15:40
I agree about the engine anxiety. I feel that way even when our engine runs well. It's different if it quits on the icw with amenities nearby and when it goes in remote lands. The mechanics took good care of you guys. Great work and not too expensive. You said that the engine coughed a few times before.luckly they recommended the injector work. Best 240 you will spend.great video
Yeah, no shame in worrying..In fact I always make provisions and have a plan to bail or sail in when entering port just in case engine quits. Not so bad leaving. At least it happened when close to port. And you got good people working on it
I like that you show the best, and worst of your voyage. Very sorry to see the troubles this time :( Surely your time on the island made up for it!! Can't wait to see it, thanks! Thumbed (PS - I did my first sailing ever on a 31Ft. Benney courtesy of a friend in Lake Huron, MI over the weekend!! My first step to the cruising life I hope!!!) Love your channel!
We'll have to add that to the list for season 4 as we are away from the boat currently. We did do a bit of a rundown on Season 1 Episode 12. The jackets we wear are the Gill Coastal.
Z&L, I've been dealing with an ailing Hurth Trans for the last three weeks. The trust issue is there and I leave from Annapolis down the ICW to KW in 3 weeks... I know that anxiety. It's awful. Sundowners have helped. I like dark rum and cranberry lately but OJ and Rum works too. One trick I learned over the Cruiser forums was flushing the trans frequently with Peak or Shell ATF Dex III in this unit HBW100. Also running 50ML of Diesel fuel with 300ml of ATF made such a HUGE difference. I've only got 877hrs on her so there can't be a problem... But there is. I know that feeling. Those prices though it would be worth it to sail to the DR for the repair! I was quoted $2200 for a ZF12 and $800 for install along with $400 for a new damper plate. But since the Diesel fuel added it's working better than the last 4 years. Positive engagement, cooler temps, and no slip or squealing. I may have bought some time. Fingers crossed, knock on teak. PS: No cooking with Lindy episodes lately?? She's gotta have tons of local foods to work with by now.
Thanks for the info on the transmission tricks and the liquid anxiety remedies! I was setting up the next video and saw some Lindy cooking going on so you'll get your fix of that soon enough!
About 24 hours from Samana going about 5 mph or a little less. That's about the speed you end up doing in a sailboat with the normal adverse winds and currents.
@@Funonholiday wow I'm Americans from NY but my father n mom are from Puerto Rico anyway is part of the USA land gland y'all made it safe cool bro take care guys
We use free music off UA-cam's list. The song during the intro is labeled Splashing Around. The song while we are sailing is labeled Urban_Lullaby. Thanks for watching!
It took us about 26 hours. The first 12 were along the coast of the DR heading from Samana towards Punta Cana. Then we angled off shore and crossed in about 14 hours.
I don't have it anymore unfortunately. His name is Corelas (I think that's how you would spell it). If you call Puerto Bahia marina in Samana and talk to Gavi, they would have it or be able to get you in touch with someone.
Oh I forgot I'm glad you fix your motor I wonder how much you paid then I guess it was a little cheap from Dominican republic than fixing on PR cus we use Americans money is more expecive to fix your motor it was beat up well glad y'all made it me n my wife we planning to do the same thing y'all did I'm waiting for her to come see your video she is working we got a boat like the one you got on Florida we always take care of the motor cus you never know what could happen that was a cool trip I can't wait to do it anyway take care guys 👍😎🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇵🇷
At no point the coast guard didn’t stop you or ask questions?? You just sailed up to Puerto Rico with no issues?? How is it when you get on land?? Is there immigration waiting for you or?? I’m confused
There is a mobile app called CBP Roam that we use to check into the US and US territories. Since we are US citizens, it is a simple process. An officer will video message with us through the app sometimes during the check in process. We weren't stopped by a coast guard boat on this occasion, but that can happen at any time.
Sounds like she's running strong in this episode. Hope that's still the case. An overhaul might help to restore your confidence if there has been any new issues. But your 24 + hour sea trial of the repaired tranny seems to have proven their work, no?
No doubt. After a few more small passages along PR, I started to get over my somewhat irrational nerves. Did a compression test and valve adjustment to end the season. All good so far.

Or possibly blood thirsty piranha! :)
Excellent video. Congrats!!!!!!

@@Funonholiday yes! It terrifies me when I see the news about Dominican immigrants making those illegal trips to PR in those poorly made boats

We're currently sitting out hurricane season in Luperon and I was wondering when you made this passage.
We went across in mid May. We were in Luperon for the month of April. Awesome place!
Can you please make a quick video of your passage gear equipment? Beacons, Jackets, PFD, Etc? thanks Love the videos!

You guys are brave
Thanks! Night sailing is pretty nerve wracking!
How much were the repairs total in American dollars? I've heard labor and parts are very reasonable there.
Right at a thousand. $240 of that was the lab chemically cleaning the injectors. Labor from the mechanic was less than 500.
@@Funonholiday That's WAY cheaper then US Rates.
hello what's the name of the music you use in the video please

yes Brother but it is not the one I say says how jujuju something like that
So how much did all that work cost ?
It was really reasonable. I can't remember exactly, but it was less than $500.
How long the travel time ???
It took us about 26 hours. The first 12 were along the coast of the DR heading from Samana towards Punta Cana. Then we angled off shore and crossed in about 14 hours.
Sounds much better ZAch
Thank you!

How long does it take go from dr to pr ?
From Samana to Puerto Real is between 24 and 32 hours usually, if you pick the right weather.
