Ultimate DIY Raw Dog Food Recipe 🐶 Nutritious, Complete and Balanced

I'm making Bowie the Ultimate Raw Dog Food Bowls utilising whole foods to provide all the essential nutrients and create a complete and balanced meal.

Note: I use a dog food formulation software called Animal Diet Formulator to help formulate the recipe. This recipe makes about 2.5kg of food which I've portioned evenly into 6 bowls for Bowie's dinner.
650g raw beef flank steak (or any lean beef meat)
700g raw duck wings (or you can use chicken wings)
100g fresh whole sardines
75g raw beef lung
75g raw duck hearts
100g raw beef liver
100g raw lamb kidney
Note: start with the low dosage if your dog is new/sensitive to offal
100g canned whole oysters in spring water, without salt
250g cooked potato, sweet potato and rutabaga (you can boil or bake)
200g puréed/blended mixed vegetables (e.g. zucchini, kale, spinach, carrot, asian greens, cucumber, lettuce, green beans, red/green capscium)
100g whole eggs (raw, no shells)
12g wheat germ oil
6g hemp seeds
6g chia seeds (soaked/ground)
15g ground turmeric
1g organic kelp powder (I use NOW brand)
Note: if you use different brands, please follow individual product feeding guidelines and instructions.
⭐ Notes to consider ⭐
• This recipe is formulated to be served raw for adult, healthy dogs.
• Always introduce new ingredients slowly and monitor.
• This recipe uses raw meaty bones. Always supervise your dog when they’re chewing their bones, even if they’re experienced chewers.
• Always practise safe food handling and storage techniques.
• Every dog is different, as are their diet requirements. Consult your vet if you’re unsure with any of the ingredients.
Lastly and most importantly, like us humans, dogs need a variety of fresh foods in their diet, which means rotating between recipes, different meats, organs, fruits and veggies. This will prevent any excesses or deficiencies in specific nutrients, as well as ensuring a diverse gut microbiome, resulting in a stronger and healthier gut and immune system.

Do you use the canned smoked oysters? I can't find other options 🤷‍♀️. I'm from Australia, lools like you are too 💚💛.

Thank you 🩷 I buy canned whole oysters in water from iherb. But if I'm running out and in need one, I sometimes get the smoked one (though try not to if I can). You don't really need a lot so a can goes a long way 😊

I love everything that you do and am very grateful for the receipe 😍 . However, I'm surprised that you don't mention that not all types of fresh sardine can be used because of the thiaminase issue. 😕

Thanks for pointing that out ❤︎Razor belly sardine and European pilchard (Sardine pilchardus) contains thiaminase. If one's not sure, they can cook the fish to destroy the thiaminase (though heat also destroys thiamine), or feed canned fish. When a dog is fed a high amount of fish containing thiaminase and the diet is a lack of other vitamin B1 food sources, then thiamine deficiency can occur.
