Great Video! i'm currently a mechanic for cars and semi trucks, and i'm very interested in mastering PCB repairs. I know absolutely nothing about it so whats the best course to take or certification to obtain?

Nice work. What’s the best way to open and reseal units with the sealing bead like the one you’re working on? Is heat a good idea to soften the sealing adhesive?

You'll have to experiment with heat. some prefer it I reckon. Personally I do not use heat to open stuff, it never provided much improvement.

On the Cummins controllers, I use hot air and my iron.

That is another fine example of wanting to use both.

What´s beneath the PCB? It won´t really work if there is metal, as it will sink the heat away.
Keep burning ONLY around the part until it releases, then move to the next one, then it will work easily.
    Fighting groundplanes is hard 😀

This is an ecu so its attached to aluminum casing. You can remove it but its not good for them. I'm pretty used to working on it like this so its no big deal.
