Nice explenation. I am new in car ecu's and more familiar in other electronics like pcb of ac and other industrial stuff. To repair a car ecu you need a scanner but what kind of flashtool? Sometimes people ask me if i can repair a car ecu.

You need many devices to do many different things. I suggest start with one you need at that moment and then add as needed. Autel is a solid diag tool to start with. As for as flashing, that could mean a lot of things. J2534, Cloning tools, Eeprom tools. Which one where you thinking of?

@@ecurepair thank you for your reply. my brother is willing to give a autel mp808 which he doesnt use anymore. As for flashing you need many tools for the automotive? As for my daily stuff i use a ch431a and ezp2019 for eeprom and bios. Would any J2534 with autel mp808 be sufficient for most jobs? I have automotive experience as technician for 10 years till 2010.

autel jvci for j2534 is decent for some factory flashing. For aftermarket you'll want something like kess3. There are cheaper type of tools then kess3 but I dont have much experience with them so couldn't help with them. Your eeprom toiols will do some things but you'd need others for sure. Including jtag & bdm tools for reading mcu's internal flash and eeproms not just small bios type eeproms. Its all pretty advanced stuff though so maybe you dont need it all just started out. Thats why I say get as needed.

What ecu simulator box would you recommend for a jtec or Mopar in general ?

I build my own but if you want something easy the mts9000 is good enough s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DnsFs1d for basic stuff.
