i sugest you buy solder paste 183centigrade degrees and better flux also a jbc type tip then you do a cleaner job
Pretty happy with my metcal so no jbc for me. Ive used solder paste on these in the past but don't care for it tbh.
Wow. Your so meticulous! I have trouble soldering these. What I do is heat up the PC board first then the chip when putting it on. The aluminum backing acts as a high heat sink. I've burned several of these chips by heating the chip with the board. I'll think to check for shorts too next time.
These ecu's can be a pain with follow ups if your not careful. I used to put it on a preheater and use hot air but now prefer 2 hot air guns instead.
