  • This video is about a typical day, so how much can a plumber in the UK earn in a day? It differs in how much a plumber can earn depending on travel between jobs and how long they want to work.
    I will take you through the different jobs I did and show you how much a Plumber in the Uk can earn in a day taking, into account the costs of materials and deduction this from the total cost of the job, ending with a grand total of how much a plumber can earn in a day.
    On this day, I did 4 jobs:
    Job 1 - Installing a radiator and bath taps
    Job 2 - Fitting a ballcock
    Job 3 - Fitting a 2 port valve
    Job 4 - Fitting a new flush valve and basin taps

    2:30 I am shocked and disturbed now. Thank you for your honesty. So called rich south UK. I have quoted £650 for hanging three large steel vertical rads (new pipework - copper pressed/soldered, brass munsen clips, cheap TRVs) in a big barn conversion. And the customer said no - allegedly I'm too expensive. Realistically, there was about £180 materials. Minus taxes - whole day of work - about £350-370 profit, without tool wear and tear. Perhaps it is time to start using a hot glue gun on pex pipes and flexis?

      When providing Quotes, I will always give an estimate first so they know how much roughly it’s going to be, so if there not happy with the cost I don’t waste time doing a full quote.
      In addition, some people are out of touch on what it costs nowadays for professional trades people.

    Great video mate.
    What part of the country are you in regarding pricing?
    thanks

    That’s good money, I normally charge 60 first hour 40 thereafter if it’s booked in, 80 first hour same day/emergency call out in east anglia. I should charge more though really as I end up earning less jobbing than if I’m booked to a job for full days, as I never over fill my days incase something grows legs. Conscious of being too expensive though as only been set up just over 2 years.

      @gunsey876, we as plumbers control the cost of plumbers in the uk, you need to value your time more. With overheads and all the time doing the books, advertising, responding to clients, doing invoices and questions ( list not extensive) this all adds into your hourly charge.
      My charges are :
      65 first 1/2hr then £45 per 1/2hr thereafter (booked jobs)
      Same day or next day - £145 -1st hr then £60 per 1/2hr thereafter.
      Out of hours - £175 1st hr then £40 per 15 minutes thereafter.
      We controls the market and if you at a professional qualified plumber who does quality work then you and all of us deserve to be paid good money.

    Great video
    Do
    you charge per job rather than by the hr?
    I charge by the hr as some jobs can take longer than it first seemed.
    But I am considering per job as after thousands of plumbing jobs, i can do them much quicker than i used to!

      @williamtooth148, thanks for the comment
      I do both, I charge £65 for the first 1/2hr then £45 per 1/2hr thereafter,if the client wants to do a Quote it’s done at the time I think it’s going to take + extra 1/2-1hr to take into account any over sights. If it takes less time then better for me. By the 1/2hr works out to be fair for both parties but some clients want to know what it will cost in full which works for them, but most of mine do by the 1/2hr.

      @@Pro-plumbing how did you charge 600 odd for that rad change then. I usually charge 180 for a rad change and thats labour only, 60 pounds an hour, but i always add time on for any mishaps that could happen.

      Hi @purebeltersteve
      The guy wanted a quote, if you look at the bit when I’m adding up the profit there were bath taps fitted too (client had purchased them) I quoted £480 for labour then uplift on materials for sourcing and fetching etc. (Time to do this does not come free)

      Thanks similar to what I charge down here in the south east.
      Too many plumbers sell their services too cheap in my view. When you take into consideration the costs involved and no holiday pay, sick pay and pension, tax, van tools the list goes on and on... then you have to make a profit after tax😂
      £350 to £450 should be Min per day.
      Keep up the good work.

      @williamtooth148,
      Too right, running a business has its overheads. Reputation counts for something too as if you have good reviews and enough of them you can charge a bit more. Clients respect that you value your own time as long as the quality of work reflects the cost, they will be willing to pay that bit extra and even go for more expensive quotes. As we all know you get what you pay for ( or at least should do anyway)

    While you have, British Gas cover £14 a month , they can do that cheaper , this is why you losing clients , you don’t look at the big picture there’s more companies than British Gas offering many services and if you plus that together is cheaper to pay yearly charge than your few costly jobs which will be equal to 3 years amount you charged in one day .

    • @Pro-plumbing
      @Pro-plumbing  3 дні тому +3

      @edthelasttribe9580, this is true, However not all clients want to use theses companies as British gas’s and home heat for example lack the staff that know what they are doing, leave clients for days if not weeks with emergencies etc. You get what you pay for and clients can see that. All I hear from my clients is how bad British gas’s and home heat cover is and it’s a waste of money.
