The Most Popular Digicam? - Canon SD1000 / IXUS 70 - (with photo samples)

- The Canon IXUS 70 or SD1000 as it's also known as is one of the most popular digicams at the moment. At least it seems so, because I see a lot of photos posted from this particular camera. Why is it so popular though, isn't it just a standard 2000s digicam?

Yeah, the Ixus prices have definitely skyrocketed online...and I think you explain well why. The 70 with the black lens indeed looks great, seems like the "it" small digicam. Now I need to go looking for it in thrift stores this summer. 😎
Ixus'es used to be the most common cameras I found in thrift stores. Now they are rare, and if they show up they are expensive. I guess people realized they could get real money by selling them online. Fortunately I'm still finding some digicams, last week I found an Olympus C-1400L + smartmedia card for 6 euros 😀
@@mikaelrphoto Maybe the backroad and countryside thrift stores are the places to go...but usually they just have porcelain and forks? Ah, the 1400CL is a camera that I found in our old school, but decided not to bring home (this was before my real digicam hype).
I bought one new, back in 2007 I think. Still works like day one.
Yeah they are very durable, the only weak point is the lens folding mechanism.
Isnt the SD1000 an whole different model? Love the pictures btw are they RAW or edited?
Thanks! The photos are all unedited jpegs directly from the camera, mostly on the standard settings. SD1000 is the name for the North American market, IXUS 70 in Europe, and probably the rest of the world.

i have the competitor from Nikon s510. My Nikon is far inferior IQ than the Ixus 70. Canon did magic with this model. I read later models were not as good.
Hello my friend. Thanks for sharing your experience. You comment about this camera, that in low light situations, it tends to reduce the noise produced by high ISOS. That's something I don't like at all. I prefer noise over noise reduction. You also comment that older models of this brand, don't have that noise reduction. Can you recommend me any particular model? Thank you very much 😊
Hello and thanks for watching! The Canon G7 has a lot of noise at 1600 (an example: flickr.com/photos/mikaelrphoto/53419830732/in/dateposted-public/), it's a slightly bigger camera though. If the size is not an issue I can also recommend the G5 and Pro1, but their max ISO is 400, so they can be limiting.

Shame about the ants but the forest looks lovely!
The forest is fantastic! The ants were a bit aggressive because they just woke up from their winter sleep! I guess they will calm down soon 🤣
