I like the photos my XT takes--they remind me of film photos. And even after 20 years, it's reliable and rugged, "gritty" as another reviewer noted. It's lightweight and handles really well. The buttons are very positive feeling. In short, it's a great camera for knocking about the neighborhood. It does need a decent amount of light, so don't expect it to punch with the wonder kids of today.

I still have a couple of large prints on my wall taken on this camera. It was also responsible for the cover photo and centre spread in a national fishing magazine back in the day.
It was a great little camera , but subsequent models were better . Unless you have a miniscule budget , you can pick up much better featured (Canon) cameras for not a hell of a lot more money . And still have access to a vast range of lenses .

can you list some please. I have miniscule budget but why not pay little more if I get that much of difference.

@@profesionalninjivar7425 canon SL1--$150 with kit lens that can be blown off for $40-50 bucks to buy something better. 18mp and digic 5 prosessor and touch screen.

Haven't forgotten it. In fact, I just donated it to my local thrift store! Somebody will pick it up for $20 bucks and have fun with it. My only hope is that they will get a decent lens, the 50 mm 1.8 being the budget champ. 10 mp is sufficient for snapshots and posting online.
Personally, I have gotten spoiled and don't want anything that does not have touch screen but I do have another dinosaur camera with dinosaur lens mounted on a camera stand for photographing documents and collectibles.

Still have mine from waaay back and it works fine. It’s my go to for those situations where you might not have a functioning camera afterwards. It’s tiny and light so tends to be taken on hikes more often than my “better” cameras. Preowned are dirt cheap on auction sites. Quite good for street work too. Just don’t expect good images if you want to print above A4 or if you struggle with composition in-camera so need lots of pixels to allow cropping without losing quality whilst processing.

Perfectly good camera. I've recently dug mine out with a view to getting back into photography, with the original bog std 18-55 kit and a newer 55-250 STM that I added later. Unfortunately the sensor has grown some fungus so I've opted to go for an M50 body with the Canon mount adapter and a 18-135 STM to replace the original kit lens, all 2nd hand. Looking forward to it arriving and getting to grips with all the advances!
