Hello friend, how are you? Thank you very much for sharing your experience. I'm an amateur photographer and I've never really been obsessed with cameras or lenses. I haven't needed the best, the latest or the most expensive. Several years ago, long before this digicam "fever" started, I became very interested in the old digital photographic technology, because I wanted to side with its weaknesses. For photos that resemble reality, I already have my main camera, but I love the possibility that photography offers me to explore "other realities" thanks to its interpretations (slowness, noise, blurs, errors, etc.). At that time I acquired a Canon G2, Fujifilm F30, Canon S70, Sony DSC S75. Now I was looking at small digicams, like for example the Ixus 70 and the Ixus 100 IS, however what you said in the video about the ixus 70 applying noise reduction, I didn't like at all. I want noise and everything that gives character to photography. The Canon G2, for example, is a camera that I like what it offers me, but I would like to get something similar but in the size of the Ixus. I have also looked at Ixus 40, Ixus 50, Ixus 800 IS, which, being even older, may not apply noise reduction. I don't want noise reduction or a digital look to the image. Any recommendations 🙂 ?

Hello, I'm doing good, thanks! How are you? The later Canon S-series are not so much larger than the Ixus-series. For example the S90, S95, but the problem with these is that they have been hyped and the prices are unrealistic now (they can easily break, it's common for the lenses to get stuck). I'm mostly using more advanced cameras for getting interesting high-ISO noise, for example the Canon Pro1 and G7, but of course they are large compacts. I don't use that many small compacts even though I have a lot of them, from many different brands. I think I will do some more tests because I'm also interested in finding smaller cameras with interesting noise! Thanks for watching!

Hello my friend. Thank you very much for your answer and help. The thing is that I have continued analyzing and I have found an option that I think may be interesting, it is specifically the IXUS 400 (Powershot S400 in USA). It turns out that it has the same sensor and processor as the Canon Powershot G2 and G3... These 2 cameras are very popular among digicam fans, because of their similarity in colours and even noise/grain with analogue photography. It makes sense, because being cameras from the beginning of the century, they are closer to their analogue counterparts. Of course, the Ixus doesn't have RAW or manual controls like the G2 and G3 do, but I think that for a point and shoot it's fine. If you want more info about the Ixus 400 there is a very complete review in dpreview, where they even compare it with the G3 and it wasn't left behind, considering that it was a very advanced camera at the time.
Will there be better and more perfect cameras? Sure there will be, but in the end photography is a language and each camera can be like a language, depending on what each one needs 😊.
It's nice to share with other people with common interests. Hugs from the Mediterranean coast 🤗
