- 👇 materials & links below! 👇 What do you call something that is a coat rack, magnetic key ring holder, entryway organizer, mail storage, floating shelf… thing? We don’t know either. But we made it and so can you!
NOTE: if you want to hang anything heavy on this you should mount it with something heavier duty like french cleats or keyhole hangers. You could also route keyholes right into the wood with a slotted router bit.

More thoughts on the project; This coat rack has made our entryway way more functional! We love that so many different types of storage are built into this piece - hooks, shelves, and key magnets. We also like that we were able to make it with a pretty limited amount of tools and inexpensive lumber. Something like this could also be used as a display shelf in a kids room (trophies on top, coats and backpack on bottom). I think it would be interesting to add lips on the left and right side of the mail holder as well to turn that spot into a catch all.
Also, we love the hooks we bought for this! They were SO much cheaper than most traditional coat hooks we found, they're simple and modern, and they're big enough to double up with coats. - Навчання та стиль
Did y'all know we have *4 channels* now? This main one, plus:

(us playing games and chatting, enhanced by epic editing and a heavy dose of memes)
🎙️ Evan and Katelyn Podcast ua-cam.com/users/evanandkatelynpodcast
(chatting about life, UA-cam stuff, and playing games you can play along with)
😹 Evan and Katelyn Too ua-cam.com/users/evanandkatelyn2
(still figuring this one out 😂)
Hahaha love the opening scene. Your marriage must be so full of laughter!!!
Thanks Jordan!! Yes, it pretty much is our goal all the time to crack the other person up and have fun :)
1:13 the moment mochi/joob, was named the supervisor for the first time
I really liked this video. Really nice filming and editing.
+Modustrial Maker thank you!
You guys are gonna blow up. Great Channel.
Thanks Matthew! That would be awesome haha. We are still a pretty new channel but working hard trying to grow and having so much fun turning our projects into videos. Maybe one day we can do this full time! *fingers crossed*
EvanAndKatelyn Girl please I know people who been on UA-cam for years and haven't even got a mill yet.You guys are such a happy couple and you're both so funny! Low key jealous of your relationship creative and humor Katelyn inspires me too because she is a girl and I feel like girls can do anything boys can Good Job guys (please reamber me when you blow up) =D

Yep..they blew up.
@@oobaka1967 Now 1 Million!
This comment aged well :)
Love your guys' personalities! Also, I really appreciate you leaving in your 'mistakes' to further educate us what to avoid doing :)
Instant sub! Sending hi fives from Nebraska!
+Heismyrock3 thank you so much! The mistakes are kinda the most helpful part we think 👍🏻 Thank you for subbing and joining our little UA-cam community, and high fives right back atcha from Texas! 🙌🏻
Using a block of wood to knock those magnets in instead of a hammer is a really good idea. Neodymium is pretty brittle and hitting it directly with a metal object can cause it chip pretty easily, leaving you with highly magnetic sharp bits everywhere!
+wonderwulf haha blessing in disguise I guess! Sharp magnetic shards do not sound like my idea of a good time 😋
What a killer backpack! Where did you get it, Evan? Great vid, guys :)
Thanks Brad!! I like to think that it brings out my eyes 😀 -Evan
Well done guys. Nice banter at the end too. An entertaining and useful project for sure!!
+A Glimpse Inside thank you! If we can be entertaining and still helpful, we've reached our goal! Thanks so much for stopping by and saying hi! :)
Wow, how this channel just have 10k subs. The quality is so good, congratulations!
+_Vini Nintendista thanks so much! We are still a pretty new channel but excited to be growing! 😊😊

-Caleb Harris
Thanks Caleb!! We are going to make one for our router to help place dados accurately too :D Excited to do more quick tips
I look forward to it!
I love how much fun you guys have, and how you don't pretend nothing ever goes wrong. Keep it up!
+Ken Pem thank you! Haha stuff always goes wrong, would be wayyy to much work to hide it 😉
I love these types of videos
But I rarely see it.
Where two people actually work together. Definitely bought my subscribe!
Thanks for joining our little corner of youtube!! :D excited to make more videos
Just finished watching all of your videos. Both of you two are so cute 💖 and this is my most fave work you've made! More love to you two. Please continue to make videos 💕
+Giann Mikhael Alipar aww thank you so much, so glad you've enjoyed our videos! Hope you have a great day 😊😊
At the beginning I said, "you missed"..
Great vid as always!
Hehe, that's awesome :D Thanks so much Ian!
Awesome project! I love how you guys used the magnets. Keep up the good work!!!
Appreciate that Mike! We pretty much want to use magnets everywhere. Good thing we bought a big multipack of the nice neodymium ones. Think we might make a bit holder using them soon!
nice one guys it looks great and can be adapted to fit in any space, my wife has been asking me to make something like this for ages. love it
Go for it :) this one was pretty quick and super satisfying! Confession: we were originally making this for a friend but we liked it so much we kept it and made one more for her, lol
I love it 😀 ✌
😀👍 Thanks Diego!
Love that pro tip!
Thanks Phillip!
Love the energy you guys have!!! simple designs always have the best results. Good job 👏🏻
+Brico Designs thank you! Haha we have a lot of fun out in the shop so the energy comes easy 😄 And agreed, love a nice simple design! Thanks!
Ahhhhh magnets!!!
THEY ARE SO CUTE!
D'aww shucks! Thanks!
Oh my word! You replied! I watched this video when it first came out, but I wanted to re-watch it because it is so entertaining. I can't believe how happy you two are and the fact that you do work projects like these together is just beyond adorable. Also the fact you reply to almost all of your admirers is so sweet and creates a bond between UA-camr to subscriber that most other UA-camrs don't have. Continue creating works that we all love to see! Bye!
Aww so glad you like the video! Can't believe we made that one almost a year ago, time has flown. We love responding to all the cool folks who take the time to leave us comments - so thank YOU for being one of those awesome people
You guys are totes adorbs!
+JPVegh haha you are too kind!
Now THAT'S a good looking entry way! Nice project you two...and great tip at the end.
Thanks Bruce!! We're going to try to do more like that so glad it works well :D
I love the humor added to the video, one of the few real DIY channels i enjoy watching :)
+Hiren Bip thank you!! That means a lot to us!!
You guys are so funny! Love the magnet idea (stealing that one). Great tip to share at the end
+Tom's Dreamshop Worx haha thank you! Yes please do steal it! Everything is better with magnets :D Thanks for stopping by and thanks for sticking around to the end :)
You're honestly both so adorable, I paused at that nighttime exterior shot of your garage where you're both waxing the shelf just to grin at how cute you are together. At some point I'm going to have to go through all your videos again to Like them since I keep forgetting, too excited about watching and learning.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Good stuff guys - that stained really nice
Thanks so much Josh!! :D
Really enjoying your style. Fresh and simple and fun! Keep those out takes coming too, funny!
Thanks Kelli!! Hahaha we have more outtakes than we can reasonably fit, so no chance of running out! 😝
Very nice
Thank you!
Nice!
+nick longstaffe Thanks!
You guys are so goofy, I love it! Anything within hands reach is a hammer. For larger projects be careful using foam brushes in shellac because the foam will dissolve. Keep it up, you guys are killing it.
Hahaha, thanks Brian! True words about the hammer. Ooooooo did not know that about shellac dissolving foam brushes. We've used them a couple times for smaller projects but that's really good to know! We are still learning things as we go so we will definitely file away that tip in our brains, thank you!
I love you two ! you are just so lovely
Nice one guys! Great video
+sa-maker thank you Hugo! 😁
I love it! Great project :)
Greetings from Spain!
+Mikhandmaker thank you so much! Greetings back from Texas!! Would loooove to visit Spain some day! 😄
Awesome work E&K! 👍👍👊👊 Nice jig too!
+Fred McIntyre thanks and thanks!
I've gotta say you two look so nervous on camera here. It's night and day compared to your current videos. Glad you've grown into your channel.
Fun and well-explained. Subscribed!
:D thanks for joining our little UA-cam fam!
Love the intro clip😂
It was really fun to do 🙂 thanks for stopping by to watch our video!
you guys are too fun!
Thanks Scott 🙂we really do have fun!
I love your channel I just found it on my recommended and I can't stop watching them...
make more pls
Working on more right now! Like 5 videos lol
Yay!
This would be a great storage hook and shelf piece for dog leashes (I have 4), harnesses, collars, dog water bottle, potty bags and a dog raincoat to hang up right by the front door to have everything accessible.
You guys are really inspiring! At the moment I study to be a Industrial Product Designer. Really love your designs! :D
Aww, yay, that makes our day! Best of luck :)
Excellent ... Cool ... Fun ... Thanks ;)
+Clem McGuinness thank you!
MAGNETS!!! Yay. Btw love your videos keep up the good work
+Killa' Whale haha everything is better with magnets! Thank you!
Nice job guys! Good plans for beginners, and entertaining to watch. Nice job on editing too! Subscribed!
Yay, thanks for stopping by and joining our little youtube community :D
They were babies :O
Oh man, I just noticed Katelyn throws the letters onto the ground when she takes the parcel out of the mailbox. I lol'd.
+Brandon's Bees hahaha. Eh, just bills and stuff, nothing important! 😋😋😋
You guys are so cute!!!! So glad I found you guys through the modern maker podcast! You guys are awesome! 😄
Aww thanks Shindy! We're glad you found us too! Thanks for stopping by and saying hi 😀😀
So tumblr😍
So cute! I love your videos. :)
Aww thanks so much Ashley!!! 😊😊
Great little project to add function to a home. Like the quick time especially for those beginners out there. Also your cat "supervisor " probably more qualified than most supervisors. :D
Thanks Ron! Definitely a good one to start with for people who are just dipping their toes into woodworking. Hahaha she is a pretty good supervisor until she decides to lay down on top of a project we're in the middle of!
371k guys!!!!!!♥️♥️♥️
It's crazy! ❤️
You guys are super cute!!
Awww 😋 thanks so much!
I just found your UA-cam channel today and I love it so much!! :-)
+Flor Aguirre aww thanks! Glad you stumbled upon us!
Nice job!!! =)
+БУКатАНЯ thank you!
Late to the party but this looks amazing 👏 1:28
Great. I would cover my Rubber Maids etc. with colorful cloths., number boxes and location, and put like with like, and use ziplock bags inside to separate things. Index card box to record box # and inventory. It gets very dusty. Great job.❤️💕💯😊🇺🇸 1:42
OH HI! Great vid guys!
+Tim Woodward OH HI Tim!!! Thank you! 😄
Love the "OH HI" on the shelf
Haha we love it too!
I swear your intros just keep getting better and better!
Hehe, thanks!! This one was really fun :D
Only 86k views? You deserve wayyy more! Great video x
Aw thanks!
Hi Evan and Katelyn, you guys are the DIY gods. Also thanks for the entertainment.
+Chase Mei haha I don't know about that but we do love making things! Thank you!

Yayy welcome to the channel :D very happy you're a subscriber too! We're working on some more videos right now that we're super excited for. Hope to have them up by this next Friday :)
Can't wait!
Y'all are producing some really fun content. Congrats on the success so far! (I'm selfishly happy that I was subscriber #1000 on Instagram 😁)
Thanks so much Kyle! Haha you made us do a little happy dance when the count changed from 999 to 1000! 😁😁
And at 1:12, the supervisor was born
Do things that are available to a wider audience as not many can get 3d printing or concrete but the wood stuff is available to everyone. Anyways great work keep it up.
+carloz andrez we try to do a mix! Some projects will be more wood based, some will incorporate things like 3D prints (but usually there are ways to replace the print with something else, and hopefully you'll still be able to pick up some tips). Thank you!
Nice,🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧idea🇩
5k...5k...what...5k...no let me check again...**checks**...5k...**subs**...**still still 5k**... boi nah you need 10 million (minimum)
Also you got a new sub 😄
+Emma Brown haha if we got to 10 million that would be amazing!! Heck if we get to 100k we'd be super happy! Thanks so much and thanks for subbing, so happy to have you in our little corner of UA-cam 😄
😋👍 thanks Emma Brown! So excited to see what happens with the channel, it's been an awesome ride so far lol
+Emma Brown haha... Evan and I both individually replied to you, sorry about the double comment!
Congrats on 6k
200th comment right here! 🥳🥳
00:02 at the beginning of the video and I am already laughing so hard XD.
Edit: I can't stop watching it over and over again pls
Hi! I am so excited to follow this tutorial. I tried to follow the link for the magnets you used but it didn't work. Can you link which magnets you used please?
you deserve more subs and views ur amazing
Aww thanks camo!!
i cant believe you replied i just watched the marquee video
we like chatting with you guys, you're who we're making this for :)
Excellent idea, thank you very much for sharing it.
I am in the process of doing mine, it is already armed, tomorrow I put the sealer, although I still do not know what color to paint 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
+Ce Quetzalcóatl Ángel thank you for watching! We always go with natural wood instead of paint but I bet it would also look nice in white or a fun bright color!
Hello again.
All or almost all of my living room furniture is dark brown (or chocolate). Apparently I will leave it in natural color.
I made a few modifications to the original design, I put 5 neodymium magnets for the keys, two double hook shelves, and a large ferrite magnet between the two sections to lock (with another magnet) the receipts for light, water, etc., etc.
Greetings from Mexico.
+Ce Quetzalcóatl Ángel very nice, love all the mods you did, that's so cool! Hi from Texas 👋
are those ... silicone paint brushes?
great channel, love your enthusiasm.
Best from Germany!
+Markus Meier thank you!! They are foam, which one commenter told us isn't the best for Shellac, but so far they've worked for us. Hi from Texas!!
Great work, You guys deserve more subscribers! 😀
P. S: I read somewhere that strong magnets can mess up car key remotes, I'm not too sure about that though....
Well, we certainly hope we can grow out little youtube community 😀 Thanks for giving us the heads up! They've been fine for us but I don't know about those fancy keyless ones that work wirelessly
EvanAndKatelyn do guys alone do the filming or do you have someone else to help... Anyways keep up the good work 😀✌️
We take turns filming each other and then setting up static shots with the two of us, but yeah just us filming. Slows down the project some but so great to capture it and have these memories to share 🙂
This is really damn cute. xD
Thanks!
my real question is where is that mini backpack from because I 'm in love
Great video! What's the size of the wood screws you used to connect the wood pieces?
Can I make this and sell it and give you credit. Great video
sick shelf! are those hooks on the back strong enough..? they are designed for picture frames..
Thanks!! Yep yep they're rated for more than the weight than this thing takes, and we've been using it for over a year and a half now with no issues :)
1:58 sounds like you could use a mallet 😀 I could fix that!
+The Beardless Man haha we have one but it was in the garage and we have this instant setting glue + accelerator so we didn't have to run and grab it!
Do the magnets damage the key fob?
Nope, key fob was fine!
where did you get the stick thing for covering bolt?
You mean on the hooks? They came with the hooks
Awesome project. Is it just me or is the shelf not level in the end? Either way, great video!
Thank you! It may or may not be perfectly level but it's good enough for us! 😋
I love you guys, you're so cute.
Thanks so much Tiffany :D we certainly have fun with these projects and making videos! Also thanks for stopping by our Facebook page too 🙂
Also Instagram. 😀
Awesome!!
I'm a maker also, you should check out my Facebook business page & instagram. Tiffany's Diamond Treasures (fb) Tiffany Riddle-johnson(instagram)
I like the bent wire hangers!
where do you find love this sincere?
+REDHOTSOSPICY RECORDS we feel pretty lucky to have found it ❤
Lol the intro!
Them : "IM JUST GONNA THROW IT ON MY WALL!"
Me: 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
+AlliMcKnightVevo haha! We may have felt silly doing it, but silly is our natural state 😋
EvanAndKatelyn lol i watch diys and never do them cause i cant 😂😂😂
+AlliMcKnightVevo you can! Something like our concrete letters video is a really good place to start for beginners
magnet is kinda gimmicky. Roundover bit might have been interesting for some of the edges. Would love to see more electronics and more dynamic finishes
We actually use the magnet every day!! It's my favorite part, even a year later
Can these designs be used for commercial use
+Keeran Kirubakaran we are open to licensing our designs - send us a direct message or email if you are interested ☺
from where do you buy the wood??? :)
Home Depot 👍
Evan your voice sounds a little bit like Dathi De Nogla
Haha, it's true, I think we must be long lost cousins
Anyone else here after finding out the Superrvisors real name? It comes at 1:12
Were are you guys from?
Texas! 😁👍
Is it just me, or Evan aged like fine wine but Katelyn haven't changed a bit after 6 years except for hairstyles?
What size screws did you use?
We'd love to help, but aren't sure which screws you were referring to
EvanAndKatelyn sorry, I meant the scres for the hooks. Did you use the ones that came with the hooks or woodscrews?
Maurice Marshall hmmm, I'm having a hard time remembering (this project was from earlier this year) I believe we used wood screws we had on hand that were the correct length so that they didn't go through our backing
You didn’t show how you mounted to the wall.
Cool! .... Is it just me or is it a bit slanted :O
+Joseph Mathew haha. We may or may not have been in a rush to mount it and our house may or may not be slightly crooked in some areas 😜
EvanAndKatelyn haha! Must be the house! Nice work tho... Planning on making the vertical cat scratcher tho! Thanks! 😄
Speed square with a circular saw turns it kinda into a mobile table saw with a fence.
I don't know the length you chose but avoid drywall anchors etc just make it at least 18" that way you can screw into a stud on both sides since they're 16" on center.
You guys did a great job!
+mixwell1983 yes! Aiming for studs will definitely make it stronger. Thank you!
