The reality is that knife makers rarely have time to make knives for themselves. I have only one of my own knives because it has a flaw and I couldn't sell it. 😉 PS - that folding draw knife is sweet!

I carry an old Leatherman super tool ever since I was about 8. I'm 18 now and it's still going strong

I LOVE my leatherman. In fact I've realised I have a bit of a thing for multitools in general. For me, the tools I always look for are scissors, blade and pliers but a good saw and screwdriver are also very very nice to have. Apart from the Leatherman Wave I also have a Gerber Vice which is almost a keyring multitool but still has a crazy amount of tools. That's what I usually have at work in the office. For weekends lately I am carrying the Gerber Armbar Drive which skips the pliers and saw but has a great screwdriver with changeable bits.

So why not do what the troll comment suggested and carry around a pair of scissors, a knife and pliers, don't you have pockets???

@@Joe_Bandit That seems like an oversight on your part. Just carry them all separately rather than in one convenient package.

I used to carry a leather man(chargeTi) but now only carry a knife(since that’s what I used most other than pliers) the leather man was just TOO HEAVY like a brick and bulky in the pocket…

I agree that most are too big and bulky. That the reason I really like the Skeletool. It’s just the knife, pliers, and screw driver. Thanks

I am a machinist at LS Starrett. My go to knife is a Victorinox Camper BUT, my choice of carry while at work is a Skeletool in stainless (have one in 'Coyote ' too).

I carry a leatherman sidekick and use it pretty much every day and you just can't beat the service leatherman provides even on their cheaper models.
Did make a pancake leather sheath for it.
It's alot more compact then the knives I make.

Agreed on all accounts. I didn’t make a sheath for it. I just use the pocket clip to keep it in the top of my pocket.

Dustin is the guy that inspired me to start making knives. I watched him go from a 1x30 to the 2x72 grinders he has. He’s knowledgeable, easy to follow and is one humble fella. His brother does a great job with all of the videos.

Haha! Never thought you might take that question so seriously :-) But still. The troll also has a Charge Ti, which he uses quite a bit, but never carries it - too heavy. Prefer single handed pocket knives, with a clip.

Hey, no problem Johann. It’s hard to tell someone’s intent with the comments sometimes. Just have to be careful about being clear with the intent and meaning. Thanks for watching and the comment.

Very informative video. I’m not really a knife maker per say. I have made knives from circular saw blades,as I don’t have the equipment to make a full blown knife from scratch. I did make a hatchet from an old roofing hammer following your video. Not as good as yours, I’m still a work in progress. The one thing that I have nailed down is rescaling old knives. I also carry a leatherman wave. Great knives, or rather multi tool. Thanks again for the video.

Right on. Thanks for the comment. A Leatherman is just such a versatile tool. It’s had to think of just carrying a knife any more.

I carry the Curl, similar to the Wave and my daughter carries a Sidekick. I’ve always carried a Victorinox. It was my first knife but I wanted pliers too so got a Juice, that I carried a few years then gave to my sister. Leatherman stopped making the Juice.

Ok, question about your modified half hatchet. I made one from a Plumb head. I made a handle and hung it. But it never sat straight. Close inspection of the head showed that the eye wasn’t centered or parallel to the edge. After the third handle I got it to sit straight. I am guessing that Plumb sets their heads in epoxy so that their heads don’t need to be as precise. Have you seen this with other hatchets/axes, or is this peculiar to Plumb? I have no problem with Plumb products and have used their hatchets and hammers my whole life, just interesting that they found a way to center a head on the handle when the eye is not aligned with the edge.

I usually don’t find it necessary to color the inside of a knife sheath but if a customer requests it I just rub bees wax on it. I have a draw blade just like the one you bought. It was was my grandpas.

Schrade makes a better Leatherman like knife. Better grip and the tools are of a better quality.

Answer again? Is this channel too.. Authority has always been in the first place and must not be allowed to collapse. We are used to your handiwork, but the moment has come, as with all UA-camrs, and that is: You're fed up, aren't you? Or are we wrong? If we are wrong, please accept our apology. Pleasant.
