Boys regarding your inlet gaskets there's a product called Permatex No.3. It's an Aviation standard non-hardening sealant and will keep those gaskets in place no worries
Been following Island works for some time- his work on the 3d Printer with prototyping is astounding. Can't believe how high quality his one-off stuff is. Inspiring to say the least- thanks for the shout out for him- his channel really is great! Also have to admit- I could have watched the entire dry-ice blasting of that engine. Very satisfying to see that work the way it does. Weird to see the grease and debris just "disappear" into thin air! Wow- will have to see if I have a shop that does it here!
Still one of the most amazing car collections in my opinion! Also because you don't leave them stock and just make them how you enjoy them! Mad respect for that! And also you trash on them which makes it even better :p
Islandworks series is awesome, such attention to details, 200kg seemed a lot to remove but he blew thru that like if it was nothing. Great to see progress on Your 964.
I've literally just watched someone using ice blasting on tavarish's channel. Not sure if it's exactly the same thing. Clever stuff though. Never seen it before 👍🏻
As we all know Phil & driftworks is awesome, this video solidifies it, great that u help promote other sensational youtube channel, 1 more 👍 for the awesomeness for driftworks 👏👏, & thanks for that outro video of that f40 LMGT 👏👏👍👍👍
Looking good guys every faith what ever this engine spec power out put with phill it will always increase and be better for sure keep up the great videos guys stay safe ! 👏. Oh congrats on the car walking with its well deserved award long time coming but worthy none the less 👏👏👏
We definitely need the engine strip down and rebuild documenting, will be really interesting to see what internals it's running and what caused the issue.
What is the rough cost on getting an engine dry ice blasted? And what are the pros and cons against other media blasting, apart from obviously not making a mess?
I believe that dry ice blasting is one of the least abrasive types of media blasting. However, i believe its rather expensive due to the amount of ice needed and the type of blaster that is needed.
Can you machine O-ring channels or 3D print some carbon items with a groove and get some o-rings made for the inlet thermal insulators/isolators? Would stop this issue 👍
You should have ‘bored us’ with the full dry ice clean… it’s mesmerizing 😵💫 in a good way. Hope the engine builder shares some video content with you… for us 🙏
These machines are big money 👌🏼👌🏼 I run a detailing company and looked into purchasing one but my eyes nearly popped out my head! Talking 10-15k for an entry level unit 😩😩
Later this year. When buying the V10 M3 back, it was under the strict rule that it didn't interfere with my other projects & if it had to sit for ten years, then that's what would happen.
Awesome as always! Nothing like working with clean stuff...I need to check out the dry ice cleaning.
Thanks for the mention!!!
No problem dude. Hope it helps.
That F40 LM is beauty!!!
I spent the entire time the video was in the shop staring at the F40!!! :D
Also thanks for the recommendation for island works Sweden - nice content !
F40 LM 😍
Not gonna lie, when you said Merc A-Class Steering pump, thought you were gonna say BOM and Project Binky!
Same here
So did I 😂
Was almost dissapointed he didn't haha
Love Islandworks channel, incredible build
That ice blasting looks amazblaz! Almost as nice as Fernsports line-up of customer cars!
I'm sorry but I'm with you Phil.....
I could watch 10 minutes of that very easily...... Oddly satisfying
Island works is in my sub list. Always know it’s bath and whiskey 🥃 night when DW or IW uploads. 😁

Thank you 👍
Dry Ice Cleaning looks mint mine was cleaned by me on my back in garage with good old WD40 ..
That dry ice blasting was some satisfying stuff to watch

Absolutely love this channel. Gets me all giddy when a new post goes up. Cant wait to see this car back running better than ever
Phil "let's not get carried away" Morrison ;)
800bhp engine incoming
So very nice cars there 🔥
i've been sub'd to islandworks for a while - amazing quality stuff that puts a lot of builders to shame. nice of you to do a shoutout for him.
@Driftworks Another cool car channel from Sweden PeterBjorck highly recommended
Already an avid watcher 👍
Right! Off to watch island works now 👋🏼
i do think your 964 is the coolest RWB out there. Love your work.
Cheers 👍
heck yeah, islandworks getting a shout out! Such an underrated build

Thanks man 🤘
Been watching Island Works for a while, I concur a brilliant build
Islandworks series is awesome, such attention to details, 200kg seemed a lot to remove but he blew thru that like if it was nothing.
Great to see progress on Your 964.
Late 964 3.6 Turbo’s go for $220k - $350k. This is a baller of a car to modify. I would do most anything for a modified 965. This car is epic.
Cheers for the mention Phil. 👍👍
No worries, thanks again guys!
Good luck with your rebuild!
And you were absolutely right: the Islandworks Sweden channel is excellent!
Always exciting to see a notification from my favourite car in your fleet !
Awesome shout out to Islandworks Sweden. Would love to see your e30 on track with his 964 when it's done!
I told you about Island Works Sweden, hell yeah you checked him out.
Thank you sir 👍
Dry ice blasting is awesome. Thanks, Phil. ( I could watch that shit all day)
That F40 🎪
Sod the big Fiat, was that a 993 GT2RS outside? 😍
Always think they’re fake when they’ve got the wheels 🤔
@@foxx1111 you’re right, I’ve no idea
@@foxx1111 tad rude.
It's a rep 993 GT2, but a good one. It's owned by Nick that I sold & bought back my blue GT3 to/from. The yellow 964 is a genuine RSR I believe.
@@driftworks not your average spanner monkeys yard then 😁. Bet your eyes were on stilts! 👀
I've literally just watched someone using ice blasting on tavarish's channel. Not sure if it's exactly the same thing. Clever stuff though. Never seen it before 👍🏻
I had the same thought
It’s Definately very much ‘in vogue’ with car enthusiast right now. We are having 10 - 15 enquiries a day!!

So uhhh "while your in there" right Phil? I'm excited to see what's in the box! Did I say I love this car? Its so awesome.

Matt is a legend, that is my silver 996 turbo up on the lift, I'll be down there soon for Matt to help with short block assembly on my GT3 engine.
It's hilarious that even while filming your own engine you know we are all going to be distracted by the F40 and even you get distracted by it
Is it not an f40 C (or LM if you prefer)
please post full video of the blasting
Looking forward to seeing the engine upgrade and wow a F40 heaven
I love how all started with just a turbo swap... and now the engine is out... lovely!
It was always going to happen 😄
Thanks for always asking stuff you “sub” to be recorded and detailed too! Super interesting to see! Hope to see it running soon!
Is anyone else looking at the F40 LM thinking that would look nice in Phil’s collection?
I refuse to pay too much attention to it as there's just no way I'd ever be able to own it.
You guys worked so quickly, i didn't even see yous drop the coolant
It’ll be amazing when it’s finished brilliant
Phil, please post the full video of the dry ice blasting... that was satisfying as....
The next video in this series will be satisfying 👍
Check the ac compressor bracket closely for cracks while you're at it.
upload the ten minutes unedited dry ice blasting vid Phil :]
also - is that an F40 LM AND 2x 993 GT2 (silver one outside and the red body next to F40) ?
Great content as I,ve just started working for a Porsche specialist. Interesting to see what you find going on in your engine 👍
That F40 tho 😍
I bet Phil is having thoughts too 😉
With a price tag of around 1.5 million I bet he ain't thinking of buying it
I definitely can't have thoughts about cars that expensive.
15:29 Lucky that arrow is on the F40 just in case aye
You should get some phenolic spacers made with a o ring groove , would help assembly and more reliable
Nice!
Cheers for another upload!
I think atm you'll be hating life but knowing you and yar attetion to detail this beetle is gunna rock keep the faith the end will come
Sad alert ; Can we have the ice blasting video ? It find it strangely satisfying
You will enjoy the next video 👍
A very wise decision phil.
Brilliant as always.
Cheers 👍
6:13 the kiss of death! Can’t wait
That Intro is dope
Al Clark of @Outrunfilms is fully responsible for that awesomeness.
Thanks for another great video.
No problem 👍
We definitely need the engine strip down and rebuild documenting, will be really interesting to see what internals it's running and what caused the issue.
It's in good company.
Hearing you talk about the A-Class electric power steering pump, my brain was screaming "Project Binky" from Bad Obsession motorsports
phil always go’s in big 👍💪🤛
What is the rough cost on getting an engine dry ice blasted?

I believe that dry ice blasting is one of the least abrasive types of media blasting. However, i believe its rather expensive due to the amount of ice needed and the type of blaster that is needed.
As above, it's really quite expensive, but a great choice on an assembled engine as the media can't damage anything if it gets inside.
You can contact me at ian@optimumdryiceblasting.co.Uk
I can give you some price info etc. 👍
Yeah, good luck with not carrying away, mate..:P
That F40 LM.

While you’ve got the engine out please please sort that nasty “clearance” Phil did with a lump hammer. You know the one. This car deserves it
i just discovered Island Works Sweden before i watched this video lol
Please more of fearnsport
oh my that F40
Go, go, go!
How can DW only have 172K subs. Phil needs to wave his hands around more and talk louder/faster... the Porsche is really a unicorn.
You should have ‘bored us’ with the full dry ice clean… it’s mesmerizing 😵💫 in a good way.
Hope the engine builder shares some video content with you… for us 🙏
Haha. Got about 7000 hours of dry ice blasting video if you wanna set up a Dropbox!!!
hmmm... improving small details.... i get a M3 V10 vibe here :D
These machines are big money 👌🏼👌🏼 I run a detailing company and looked into purchasing one but my eyes nearly popped out my head! Talking 10-15k for an entry level unit 😩😩
I also thought that it would be a great bit of kit to have & then saw the price.
For real mate! 😆😆 just out of interest what’s the daily rate to hire someone who has a machine? 💯
dry ice blasting or vapour blasting? which gives a better finish?
Vapour blasting leaves a better finish on aluminium. It's not really suitable for an assembled engine though.
@@driftworks ahh thanks 👍
Man that f40lm, put a bit of wind in my sails
could you dry ice blast used pistons and such just curious ?
Yep, it's good for all sorts.
Yes Steve. No problem.
I think Jay is right, another new turbo is coming
He can use the old one for the v10, just needs 1 more
Plz talk about or walkthrough of the F40 at background. Thx.
When are we going to see the M3 V10 again?
Later this year. When buying the V10 M3 back, it was under the strict rule that it didn't interfere with my other projects & if it had to sit for ten years, then that's what would happen.

It's Thursday Phil
Rebuild video please budd!
1:41 is that a bike in the toilet? Looks like its having a 💩🤣
Was that a real F40 competition in the shop?
It's an F40 LM. I think the owner also owns the RSR next to it.
@@driftworks unbelievable. Thanks for the reply.
Phil "we'll try not to get carried away..."
Jay "V10 M3...."
Haha, this is in much better condition luckily & still essentially has the engine that's meant to be in the car in it.
Is that a Ferrari F40 LM (HD)?
It is
Send the Cylinder Heads to Xtream Cylinder Heads in Florida.USA.
You wont be disappointed.
I probably would when I got the bill. I'll just add more boost.
Just junk your heads and buy a set of Billet heads from Extreme.
My asthma started bothering me when the f40 came on screen.
Haha I'm guessing you can relate with the different dialect having fraser and Lewis working for you haha Ken fit I mean
😂
Me - “holy shit is that a 993 GT2?! OMFG F40 COMPETITION” Phil- words I’m not comprehending cause I’m staring at the F40 😂
We need some content on V1TEN, i know its not your top priority but it needs some TLC :)
It's on hold completely as per the rules when I bought it back; To never get in the way of my other projects.
@@driftworks Not a good rule ;(
It would still be rotting in Germany if it wasn't for that rule, as I couldn't have bought it back.
@@driftworks Yeah i get your point, just would have loved to see it get more attention. Anyway i hope we are going to see videos on it this year :)
So whens the lambo getting px'd against the F40 then? 😂
Just that engine could pay my mortgage off.
