Fitting Electric Air Conditioning to my 964 Turbo - Classic Retrofit kit

- We fit the Classic Retrofit Electric AC kit to my 964 Turbo as we have a few days before mapping the car.
Air conditioning was always a must on this car. I already had a fully working standard AC system, but wanted to give this new electric version a go to tidy up the engine bay and see how well it works.

I really love the videos; Phil and Jay together are just brilliant. So many car build series videos are full of swaggering dudebro douchebags telling you how sick everything is, and it's a refreshing change to have videos presented by people who you'd actually enjoy spending time with in real life. Keep up the great work guys.
I'm so glad you guys got on the UA-cam train. I am a long standing customer and Forum user from way back in the day. UA-cam needs more of this quality content!
A suggestion, make some fine mess shields for under the arches and add louvers (face down) to keep all road debris and rain from the tyres off the condensers, fans and oil cooler.
The intro to the 964 vids gets me every time, class! I’m not mad on Porsche’s but I’m mad on this. 👌🏻
Never happier when I see the orange floor when scrolling down my subscribed👍
That car is a beauty. I am glad finally they have electric ac system. Awesome video as always!!!!
Cheers 👍
Seen the dyno results, and now working a/c. Reasons to be cheerful!
Rear engine & no heating in the winter is brutal, freezing air used to blast through the dash of my old beetle 😆
thicc intercool & crazy looking outside mounted aircon
Great job guys! You actually read the instructions too!
Thanks guys 👍 We'd have been lost without them 😂
I love how you don’t hide the timeframe the projects are completed in. No magical UA-cam time on the DW channel.
So excited seeing this come back together, I can't wait to see your dyno video.
Another episode on the 964 coming less than a week after the previous one? Hooray!
Ah what a treat. Favourite videos by far.
I love your 964 turbo videos. more please
Perfect for todays weather 40°
Electric car air conditioners will be increasingly used in the automotive world. Success always bro.
That's a pretty clean setup
What a machine
Excellent result !
Absolutely love the Porsche
British tinkering at its best! Love it guys! Go ahead and make this ÜberPorsche fly again underneath the radar… this time we might call it cool runnings…👍🤙
Missed you build videos guys
Great setup , and some car class
Another Great episode
Cheers 👍
Absolutely love this car……
always enjoy a DW vid, great stuff lads !!!!!!
Love stuff like this and seeing the 'coal face' work. Well done guys!
Very beautiful work👍🌴🇸🇦
Your cap and hoodie look nice
The difference between you guys and all other car enthusiast videographers is that you actually have talent. Why you don’t have 1 million subscribers is beyond me. Perhaps your work is too intelligent for the average UA-camr who just wants eye candy with no substance. Keep up the good work!! It’s interesting.
Thanks Jay, I wouldn't use the words too intelligent. But most people don't have the patience for substantive content on UA-cam. It has to be quick-fire and high intensity. We are neither of those things 😂
Short time between vids tells me this is on the home stretch proper.
Buzzin for ya, machine is gonna shred better than ever. =]
Perfect package your dead right👍👍👍
This channel should be called ‘Phil’s Works’… or even more accurate ‘Jays Works’
Excellent work on this car as always.Looking forward to seeing how the mapping session went along with the first drive.
Thanks 👍
Would love to see some more on that A-Class Power Steering Install :) Waiting for Johnny to make the heating element that goes in the HVAC suitcase. :)
I have been considering this for my 1964 Ford pickup F250. It would be easier than trying to set up a compressor with a belt system.
Im thinking of putting one in my 74 datsun 620! Just gotta find room for it lol
Next episode yeh👍🏻😂
I was intrigued about this kit as an upgrade to my project vehicle... Until i saw the price. Porsche anything is PRICEEEEY
Grate work on the car , and how many amp will this E-Air con consume while car is idling ?Alternator output require? Thank you
@12:15 Phil spends millions with his cars but buys the cheapest drill he can find 🤣
Install a little chimney in there and bring some firewood.
Still working? Most say 12V compressors don't have enough power.
Can you use DC Brushless ?
Cold winter gives you 3rd degree burns and frostbite at the same time.
I saw a small blaupunkt head unit on the table, are you also adding tunes in the 964?
Just fitting a period looking head unit. You can't hear much of the stereo over the engine.
We want to see jays lsx mustang running !
It’s getting close to being on the road.
Any final thoughts on how the electric setup works compared to the original? I've got a backdate 964 here in the shop, and the factory condenser doesn't fit, so this kit is under consideration.
I've used it now. It was very hot over the last weekend and we did hundreds of miles. It's not as good as the standard AC, but it would have been horrible without it.
Air con in England. You are trying to spoil our summer..
In a car with a solid roof, it's necessary. No one looks good getting out of their car dripping with sweat lol
Sir I have made an electric car with 100ah battery pack and 5kw motor . want to setup Air condition in it. 72 v car
Any update in noise level of that A/C compressor? Was it loud enough to be heard on a hot day and or after you quieted down the exhaust?
You can hear it outside the car, it's not loud though.
Plz tell me dose the ECU needs program?
Hi, the Haltech ECU is set to compensate for voltage to stabilise the idle.
Why did you choose to go Electric air con over the traditional engine driven setup?
I can't recall exactly what my final justification was for swapping from a perfectly working original AC system. But some kind of combo of looks, weight distribution and intrigue about electric AC.
Phil- it's" bwackets"....
Hello
The drilling section was "boring". :-)
🤓
Comment 👍
So aircooled engines don't provide heating to the interior of the car. WOW! Never knew that.
They do with the stock exhaust headers which also function as a heat exchanger to warm fresh air which is piped into the cabin.
The heater core usually has engine coolant running through it to provide heated air to the cabin. No coolant in an air-cooled engine means (convoluted) alternatives must be used.
Nono; he removed the car's original heating system. They normally have excellent heaters.
Which is best way 72ac compressor or 72v dc to 220v AC inverter...?
I would have no idea unfortunately. I just bought a kit and fitted it to my car.
Please guied
No bother to phill and J
What size battery do you have to power everything?
Standard size. I'm not a fan of race style batteries in road cars.
Pensiun 57
God I hope someone buys that car and restores it back to a beautiful Porsche.
Haha 😂
