Respect to Phil for keeping it 100% real . He busts his ass building his business so that he can ROMP on his cars the way we all dream we could do. This man is not afraid to hit limiter and live his best life . We have enough money guys with stored away examples to bore the future car community but when we look back and see Phil's old videos we will all know who did it right in the end!!!!! Long live the 911 and Murci!!
6:06 Your wife's timing was absolutely spot on... "hoping it might not be the end of the world... (Wife calls....)" And hey, it was a fairly epic few seconds as shakedowns go!
Momentum can't cause acceleration. It was the limiter settings that allowed it to rev past it, AND NOTHING ELSE. Temporarily set the limiter much lower and adjust the settings until it doesn't go through. It'll happen again otherwise.
Fantastic video fellas one thing I’ve always found in your favour is (NO) one can say you don’t put the work in on your awsome cars your hand seems to be permanently in your pocket spend wise as you strive for excellence . Stunning car amazing build 👏👏to all involved especially you two guys . When in doubt flat out 😂🇬🇧✌️
Love the way everyone came together and the engine builder didn't hang you out to dry or blame the engine mapper lol problems happen when building an engine, it's how you put them right that count's! Also well done for not getting upset! As getting upset fixes nothing! Glad it's working again!
Glad to see her working properly again! What a little ripper! Also, holy crap I have not seen a vauxhall nova for years. That red one parked outside at the end is abnormally clean and rust free for a nova!
You guys have the best taste in cars , Jay with the E30 Track car and Phil with well pretty much all of them. Just for the Hell of it I went on your website to pick out a set of wheels. I chose to build a set of Rotiform BM1s for use on a few of my BMWs. OMG,They were almost 6K for the custom set so I now know how you afford all these cars. Those wheels are slightly out of my price range like HREs , Oh well.
Thanks for the upload! Can tell a lot of effort went into editing a very frustrating time for you guys Such a good watch and great to see such a fantastic result Jay and your engine builder are absolute hero’s, Quality workmanship and unheard of turn around time! I’m so impressed and very jealous
You can cut with fuel or ignition on the haltech. Cutting fuel is way easier on the valve train, as there is no explosions in the exhaust manifold. No doubt the rocker’s want a good few heat cycles to make them more ductile
Definitely test it to the limit. That's why we dyno every engine built. I have been building NASCAR engines since 1994. Would rather it break on the dyno than the track. We also run each one on the chassis dyno just to make sure everything is in top shape.
So did I ........................................................................................................................................not really...
Lol, "I've got permission from the engine builder". Aye, I'm sure he'd be happy to provide you with a few grands-worth of rocker arms every fortnight if you so desired 😂. Hats off to you Phil, it's such an epic build.
So rad, despite the failures. Good idea on the forged stuff. I am surprised you did not begin with those in the beginning. No matter, they are in now. Best of luck mate.
Holy sheet, the onboard sound is so damn delicious, Please phil, make a long video, just cruising around the highway,i love the air cooled turbo porsche sound.. Love it buddy!!!
Momentum of rotating mass is conserved. Unless an external force is being applied to the rotating mass, it WILL NOT continue to increase RPM. This is physics 101. The rev limiter caused the problem because it didn't act enough or quickly enough.
Wonderful channel - total gents, proper grafters. One of only two absolute musts when I see a notification. Keep up the excellent work, it’s very much appreciated.
Can see the logic, overbuild for forgivability. BMW were kinda on the same tack when they stacked those F1 lumps behind a unit, exposed to the elements, encouraging staff to piss on them.
Always hear that rocker type heads hate hard ignition cut limiters due to shock loading. Haltech has soft limiter option on ignition cut, or cut off where you can mess with offsets to the hard limiter. There is also fuel cut type limiter which is supposed to be softer with less shock loading but not as street cred cool. I find the soft cut option is pretty soft which you may already have been on.
Great work guys as always, better breaking it outside you own garage then at an event somewhere else. No offence Phill, i love the Porsche, but i really want to see a video on Jays Nova, please 😁
Hello , sorry to hear, I hve the NA car, I must say I never liked those rockers, If I could I would fit solids, Colin at 9m got them. good luke fixing it
Phil and jay you are legends thank you for doing the things that we all dream of doing for ourselves that porker is a f…ing beast one day I’m going to get me one of those and shred some tyres 👌🏻🤞🏻👊🏻🤘🏻❤️🏁
Sweet! to be fair I think it was already broken before you hit the limiter. The first time I watched the the video, heard a rattling sound from the engine (when exit the garage 2:17) but mainly just before your burnout (2:41-2:46) it is exact the same noise as when you drop the broken rocker into the cover. What do you think when listen back the video?
This is why stock cars have soft Rev limiters. It removes some of the inertia from the engine before the load is taken off via a gear change near the redline and potentially causing an over rev scenario
Totally agree Phil, these builds need to be “enjoyed” and not squirrelled away somewhere👍
Respect to Phil for keeping it 100% real . He busts his ass building his business so that he can ROMP on his cars the way we all dream we could do. This is why I love DW!!! No bull shit and beats on it like it should be!!!!!!!
Jay is a legend …. Always ready to get stuck in . Everyone needs a jay
Proper car enthusiast, wish more people that built beautiful cars used them like you do yours, that's what they are built for. Class phil
Can we have a limited run of tee shirts with the slogan "I dont build cars to fanny about in" ?
A T Shirt with a photo of the 911 and the word BOOM....
Spotted Jay cruisin’ round Tyseley in that red Nova today! We need a video on that!
Also, please keep the wing on the RWB!

This is my dream car... has been since I was old enough to know about cars. This is a BEAST !!!
Fantastic video fellas one thing I’ve always found in your favour is (NO) one can say you don’t put the work in on your awsome cars your hand seems to be permanently in your pocket spend wise as you strive for excellence . Thanks Dave 🙏

You're living all our car dreams, this car still amazes me. I bet it's even more incredible in the flesh.
You guys have the best taste in cars , Jay with the E30 Track car and Phil with well pretty much all of them. Just for the Hell of it I went on your website to pick out a set of wheels. i feel your pain and appreciate your relentless thrashing of your cars for us. if it's gonna go, send it in style! and you sure did.
Loved how it pulled on the motorway 😍. Thanks Phil for bringing on the content and sharing the amazing cars.
Thanks for the upload! Can tell a lot of effort went into editing a very frustrating time for you guys
Such a good watch and great to see such a fantastic result
Jay and your engine builder
are absolute hero’s, Quality workmanship and unheard of turn around time! I’m so impressed and very jealous
phil im with you mate drive it like its meant to be driven!
Was braising myself for that little wheel spin. Car looks and sounds amazing.
Right on Phil! Use that machine the way you built it!
I absolutely love the honesty with all these vlogs, so many hide all the problems, and my favourite sayin is ya don’t abuse it ya shouldn’t use it.
Can appreciate the total mission to get to the end result, but what a great video that made, the hard work paid off, great job Phil and Jay.
Mega video as usual. Absolutely love this build. That GTE is a blast from the past 🥰 LS swap with DT?
Great no bull shit content . Must of been gutted but kept it positive which must of been hard !
You can cut with fuel or ignition on the haltech. Cutting fuel is way easier on the valve train, as there is no explosions in the exhaust manifold. No doubt the rocker’s want a good few heat cycles to make them more ductile
Excellent Porsche content as always, we're on rebuild number 3 of a 996 racecar that refuses to keep its oil in so feel your pain.👍
Definitely test it to the limit. That's why we dyno every engine built. I have been building NASCAR engines since 1994. Would rather it break on the dyno than the track. We also run each one on the chassis dyno just to make sure everything is in top shape.
work hard play hard......if it breaks, fix and improve and keep on enjoying it
Awesome video Phil, one of my favourite 964s!!! Sounds epic and seeing it on the M42 road test is quite something!
I was really feeling it all with you guys! Glad you ploughed on and still giving it some stick! Looking forward to more driving videos in it 😎
Hard to say who was gutted more - Phil, Jay, or Matt. " Build, Break, Repeat". Carry on, lads.
Jay said it best, “you pay the bill” so you do you with your cars!!
Well done! 👌🏼
It’s your car drive it the way you want to absolutely.
I bought a 997 911 and I drove it every day the way it should be
Absolutely delighted to see the finished result with this.Great work by everyone involved.👍
Far better job with the new rockers , I did the same thing exactly, over revd the engine and fitted them rockers and never looked back
So did I ........................................................................................................................................not really...
Noooo! But, YEESSSSS! So happy you finally got there with great support from everyone.
Gotta appreciate your positive approach and outlook on any and all setbacks, Phil - nice work! 👍🏼
Great video every other UA-camr would have split that in 4 to 5 10 minute videos, love your content 👍🏼
Great content as usual. Your engine builder pulled out the stops to help you out. Another 👍s up.
Old engine with a lot of power. It is impossible to ignore / replace each part with a new / stronger one. Thanks guys good video ☺️💯👍🏻
Absolutely Awesome Phil & Jay, no messing about removing that engine. Phil you are so lucky to have Jay, but I'm sure you know that already 💖
Tough break. The follow-up test pulls on the highway, damn, that thing pulls hard.
got to love - "if it can't do what I want it do it's no good to me!" - with a 600+bhp Rwb 964 turbo lol
Awesome . You must have ridiculous amounts of money, and I really appreciate you sharing the fruits of your labours with us🤘🤘
They don't call him Phill Mo money morrison for nothing!
I'm going to start a wheel shop....
I didnt know I needed them before I broke it. I do now 🤓
I called this research and development where one part breaks improvement all across the board keep pushing 🙌🏻🙌🏻💯💯💯
22:28 when your rev needle is made out of rubber 😂
Haha yep, very annoying. I need to find out why it's doing that.
You drove past me in Hockley heath, I was in the red 4C. Your car looked mega 👍🏽
Best automotive channel on UA-cam plane and simple!
Holy sheet, the onboard sound is so damn delicious,
Please phil, make a long video, just cruising around the highway,i love the air cooled turbo porsche sound..
Love it buddy!!!

I think this is one of your best ever videos. Crap luck with the engine but youve eliminated a problem so every cloud and all that 👌
Such an insane build just like all the others, when are we gonna get to see another video on the v10 m3
It was crazy before, but now it's an absolute animal with the built engine!
Mental as always, Great work.
Well Phil, Work the hours, spend the money, and just enjoy it!, Glad to watch, Cheers!
I think my favourite driftworks car is definitely that one of Phils with the engine and alloy wheels. #dreamcars
Watched a video the ther day on the SR20 motors and how they break rockers when using an ignition cut, the fix was to change to a fuel cut limiter.
Wonderful channel - total gents, proper grafters. One of only two absolute musts when I see a notification. Keep up the excellent work, it’s very much appreciated.
Great video again! Love to see the mistakes and mishaps that are usually not shown. Shame I can't make gfs this year. Keep up the great work guys
Lesson I learned from this...No first rips without Jay. He's your lucky charm!
Cheers From Vancouver, BC, Canada
Absolutely next level! Couldn’t agree more with developing a car for its indented purpose and how you want to drive it 🤘🏼
That noise when you gave it a boot full 😍😍
Awesome to see you sorted it. What a weapon💯💪👍and like the red Nova GTE out side your shop.
😆😆😆 " and you pay the bill". You're killing it, Jay. Cheers
Thing is Phil - yes you are a savage buttttt you’re equally a savage at mending them
Kinda cancels itself out in the end
Can see the logic, overbuild for forgivability.
BMW were kinda on the same tack when they stacked those F1 lumps behind a unit, exposed to the elements, encouraging staff to piss on them.
thank you v much for that, every emotion covered, yet so funny - educational too, what more d'ya want haha
Awesome work guys. big ups from Jamaica

I find the soft cut option is pretty soft which you may already have been on.
Ps : sounds and goes well mint. Lovely thing.
Yeah we have it on the softest cut ignition cut 👍
I can imagine there would have been a few words said during this process- glad to see it sorted.
Absolutely brilliant, what a complete animal.
It was the Porsche gods wanting Jay on the first drive.
Kudos to Phil for using a 964 as its meant to be used. :)
Love it. No point building it to not use it
Great work guys as always, better breaking it outside you own garage then at an event somewhere else. No offence Phill, i love the Porsche, but i really want to see a video on Jays Nova, please 😁
lol you were not joking about making it kiddo-friendly 🤣
mad-man, love it!
heartbreaking to hear it got broken already! fu-
Hello , sorry to hear, I hve the NA car, I must say I never liked those rockers, If I could I would fit solids, Colin at 9m got them.
good luke fixing it
Absolute legends
Phil and jay you are legends thank you for doing the things that we all dream of doing for ourselves that porker is a f…ing beast one day I’m going to get me one of those and shred some tyres 👌🏻🤞🏻👊🏻🤘🏻❤️🏁
This is life, this is modifying cars. Hope all is ok and back to better than before soon. 👍
What a total badass of a car
It’s just beautiful. Master build
Good job. You've built it enjoy it.
Absolutely sensational car👍
It sounds epic. Absolutely love this car! Great video Phil 👍
Thanks! 👍
It's a beautiful mechanic power, very good job, nice job, I love the mechanical power. 😮
Honestly living the dream here!
I would have been disappointed if nothing broke to be fair health to enjoy Phil beautiful car👍
Some driving vids with the both of you in this would be a laugh
Agreed more driving videos would be great.
I hope you didn't get any stone chips on that beautiful Nova GTE!!
SEND IT!!!!!!! mega car and sounds ace, by the way that Nova GSI is pretty cool too 😎👌🏻👌🏻
Cheers. The Nova is Jays pride and joy 😎
guys well done sounds very wicked !!!

What do you think when listen back the video?
No, it was really really obvious when it was broken & the car wouldn't have launched like that. It's just a noisy old aircooled engine 👍
don't ever change for no one. if you want to beat on your cars then people know where the door is so to speak haha
Mad skills, boys. Bravo
What a beast my favourite motor👍👍
savage car, savage owner!
