Such a great video😀, I also have a golden but he loves to chew and having less stuff in his crate is better so glad you did this video. Larsey is sooo cute🥰 can’t wait until my puppy grows that big 😊
Can I just say I love all your videos?!? I’m hoping to get a puppy soon and it’s all been very helpful!! We want to get a golden retriever or lab. Seriously love you and thank you for all your videos!!!! 💙💙💙
Great video, thank you! May I ask a question: when I lock my puppy inside the crate, and walk away, she just started to barking, should I come back to crate immediately to comfort her or should I wait for longer to train her patience?
in the first night u guys had larsey did she sleep in the crate and also am I supposed to do all these steps the first day bc she has to sleep there the first night
Hi rachel! Sorry i’m back i’m getting a golden retriever in 2 weeks and i’m scared about this crate training. So in day when i put them in the crate for short durations if they cry should i wait for them to stop and then at night if the puppy gets used to the crate will he sleep through the night if he’s completely used to the crate and how long should i do each duration and how many times do i put them in crate during the day i’m so stressed for some reason. Also how many days did it take parsley to get used to the crate i watched the video five times but i’m still nervous I LOVE LARSEY and for koba j as well did u follow the same steps! Thanks so much rachel.
The puppy probably won't sleep through the night at first because they just can't hold their bladder that long so when they cry just take them out. Start for short durations and slowly work up to longer periods of time several times a day and reward them for going in and staying in there. Yes I followed the same steps for Coba J that I did with Larsey and she was actually way faster at getting used to the crate than Larsey was! Day one she was fine, Larsey took a few days!
What do you do on the first night? As it takes longer than a day or so to get them used to the crate. So I’m confused what happens on the first few nights when they’re not quite used to it xxx
Honestly she cried a lot the first few nights. Getting her a snuggle puppy was a huge help so she would fall asleep for an hour or two then wake up and cry, we'd take her outside to go potty and that was the cycle all night long!
Rachel Greene so did you still put them in the crate? I think you’ve done a wonderful job! Stayed up last night binging your videos! 😂 Lots of love from a British subscriber!! XX
Awh thanks so much, I SO SO SO much appreciate it! We rarely put her in her crate anymore, she sleeps with us 99% of the time now and when we're gone she's out 99% of the time. We still put her in there sometimes though just because we want her to stay used to it.
My husband and I just got an 8 week old golden. We decided to name him Tobias, but we call him Toby for short. He’s been doing better about being in his crate at night. The first several nights were rough because he’d cry so much. We’re trying to teach him to go into it for nap time, but he cries and cries until he’ll finally stop for a bit and then continue. Do you have any tips for this? We have a comfy bed, a blanket on top, and his toys inside. In the night, when I take him to potty, I immediately put him back in the crate and give him a treat which has seemed to help him at night. Thank you for all the great tips so far!
It's okay! I always include links to anything I talk about in the description box of the video, here's the link for the snuggle puppy! amzn.to/2E0mqiB :)
How long are you and your husband away at work during the day? We just got a new puppy, and I'm worried about how she will do in her great ALL day when I go back to work.
Was Larsey ever aggressive? My pup is, and I have no idea why. sometimes she just comes up and starts biting our ankles super hard and when she has something she likes, she gets a little possessive. She is still very young, do you have any tips on how to nip this is the bud? Saying no doesn’t help. She is also a golden.
My golden retriever is doing the same I think it's the teasing process you need to have patience and whenever she bites you put a toy in her mouth distract her with something :)
She was already trained at the point that I filmed the video, that’s how I learned to crate train her! Just start this from day one and work up little by little as you can!
Yayyyyyyy! This is the video I’ve been waiting for!! Larsey is so cute!

Yes she did and yes! It may take a few days of doing so to get them comfortable with it!

How long did you make her sleep in her crate at night before just letting her sleep in your bed or a dog bed
I think Larsey was almost 6 months and Coba J was like 4 months when we started letting them sleep with us!
if larsey cried did u let her cry it out in the crate or take her out
We took her out and if she still kept crying we made sure she wasn't just thirsty or something and tried to let her cry it out

Do these crates last long? Are the durable?
I think so, we've never had any issues!
Which size crate did you get? 42 or 48 inch?
We got the 42" double door with the divider!
Where did you get her puppy with the heartbeat and the warmth of a real puppy?

if i crate train my dog in short intervals during the day does it help overall
yes!

Awh it will get better, it just takes time! Did you get him a snuggle puppy? That was a life saver for us!
@@RachelGreene We definitely need to! Did you happen to post a link to where we could purchase one? I’m sorry if I missed it!
It's okay! I always include links to anything I talk about in the description box of the video, here's the link for the snuggle puppy! amzn.to/2E0mqiB :)
@@RachelGreene what toys do you recommend, food and anything you can think of that I need? I’m getting a 6 week old tomorrow.
Please show her travel crate.
Larsey is so cute.
Thanks so much! I actually ended up returning it but here is one similar to what I had, amzn.to/3jsjueo
@@RachelGreene It looks so cute.😊

We come home mid day! She's never in her crate for more than about 3.5 hours at a time!
can you talk about neutering your puppy
I could and I’ve considered it! I’ve just hesitated a bit because it can be a bit controversial and I don’t want to bring any negativity! 😅
Rachel Greene oh okayy, thanks anyway :)

Oh no! Larsey’s never really been aggressive, she’s growled like maybe twice ever 🙈 I’m sorry I can’t be more help on this one!
I would put the crate in my room
Ours is in our room too!
Helpful tips . But what about for a brand new puppy first day second day being in a new puppy . Your dog looks like it’s already trained
She was already trained at the point that I filmed the video, that’s how I learned to crate train her! Just start this from day one and work up little by little as you can!
