An amazing and a helpful video. Great tips. Our shih tzu puppy is 2 months and I almost gave up on him and wanted to return him back. Crying all night, trying to go over the potty training process which is exhausting. This video has given me positive motivation to keep on. Thank u
We're at a point where our 15 week old Dal hits the bells because he things thats a way to say, "I want to go outside" instead. Going to dial back, only take him out every 4/5 hours and leashing him so he knows the bell is for doing business. Thanks for sharing.
TYS much I got my Australian shepherd puppy a few weeks ago and have started potty training but it hasn’t been working so we are going to do bell training!
I was looking up videos for potty training as I just got a Australian shepherd 8 week puppy a week ago. This is a very well done video and I’ll be using your tips and I’m sure he’ll catch on as I’ve already taught him sit and recall commands. Super smart puppy, just need to find a way to teach him to potty outside that works for us both.
Hi there, I really liked your video video very informative and I liked that you didn’t speak very fast when people are taking notes it’s hard to listen quickly and jot down things at the same time. So excellent, now I have a question when your puppy started going outside with the bell was it on your backyard grass or was it always on the grass patch you had outside your door? The reason why I ask this is my 15 week puppy Has always gone outside in our backyard to do her thing and she does just fine but when it comes time to go for a walk out in the public in the sidewalks the curbs the boulevard‘s the parks she doesn’t do anything out there it’s like I got to take her to the backyard first then go for a walk just to get exercise. So I’m kind of liking the idea of having a patch right outside my door for her to do her thing but because she’s used to going to the far back backyard to do her thing that she may not use this grass patch. Is there anything you can share with me if this will work if I get it for the winter time or will she not go on the patch of grass because she’s used to going to her backyard. I would so love a response and I would so appreciate a response. And thank you in advance
hi! thank you so much for watching, I'm glad you found this helpful! :) when they started going potty outside they did it in the backyard grass! We did have to work with them at first to go on the grass patch because even though it feels the same on their paws, its obviously a much smaller area. Once we encouraged them enough with talking to them and rewarding them with treats they learned that it was okay for them to go on the patch!
This was so helpful!! Thank you so much!! We are bringing our Golden Retriever puppy home in two weeks now and we purchased the bell that you guys use! Thank you again for this video!🤗
Hey girl! Thank you so so much! Appreciate your kind words 🤍 I actually use iMovie to edit and I make all my graphics and overlays in Keynote, use both on my MacBook and they’re both free programs! They take foreverrrrr to create so I’m glad they’re turning out well 🤗
@@RachelGreene Okay thank youu ! I understand when you say forever xDbI once had to edit a 0.44 sec video and took me like 3-4 hrs lol Thank you though :D
I just purchased the doorbell thanks to your video 🥰 my puppy is a lab heeler mix 8 weeks old! How exactly did you train your puppy to touch the doorbell when she was smaller? Would you just keep pushing the button everytime you went outside ? Also was this the only training you did with her ? How long did it take ? I have so many questions 😂
Great video just wondering how I can bell train while I keep my puppy in a pen. He’s 3 months just got him about a week ago and we’ve been limiting his space to tell when he needs to potty so he’s in a pen that’s not near the door. Would it still be okay to put the smart bell by the door even though he doesn’t have access to it unless going out?
I'm getting a golden in 2 days and this video was really helpful, so thank you! Just a question though, if he isn't leash trained, how do I potty train him? I don't want to rush him into leash training but I know I need to potty train him, so how did you do that?
When my dog pees inside, we definitely make it known with a stern NO that peeing inside wasn't allowed but after taking her outside, she doesn't have to go because she eliminated all urine she had inside. I work at home so I can take her out frequently. Throughout the night she stays quite so we don't have witching hour pee breaks. Going to start the bell training next.
Dont punish her for having an accident. If you catch her in the act, make a sharp, sudden noise or pick her up and she should stop peeing. If she does it when you are not watching her (you realistically should be watching her when she's out and roaming free 100% of the time, otherwise you're setting her up for failure) then do not say or do anything, just clean it up. when she potties outside give lots of praise and give her a treat while doing it sometimes. Take her out about 15-20 mins after she drinks water and slowly move the intervals up as she gets older and more in control of her bladder. Also water regulate. Dont give her any water after 7 or so (3 hours before yall go to bed) if she still has accidents in the crate. If she is super thirsty then give her an ice cube.

You're welcome! Yes, no play unless going potty is done first!

Hello! I have a whole video on potty training! :) ua-cam.com/video/k_5lsTY27So/v-deo.html
Hi Rachel! What brand of puppy food or type of puppy food do you feed your Goldie?
Right now she’s getting Purina Pro Plan large breed puppy food mixed with Royal Canin Gastrointestinal Intestinal puppy food!
We have no grass would that be a problem for a GR
you could get puppy pads, fresh patch, or something like that!
Hi just a quick question. How long did it take for your dog to be potty trained?
I talk all about it in the video :)
ty!
You’re welcome 😊
Will this work for indoor potty too?
Maybe? I'm not sure I've never done indoor potty
Rachel what is the name of the breeding company you got your puppy from?
Our breeder isn’t doing any more, Larsey was part of her last litter.
@@RachelGreene ok
Sorry I can’t be more help!
@@RachelGreene it's ok. I was just wondering cause your puppy looks like my old golden retriver

Does she use her paw or nose to ring the bell?
We tried using her nose at first and ended up using her paw!
Rachel Greene thank you. I’m getting my first Golden in January do Im trying to learn as much as possible. I’m over the moon excited!
My puppy knows how to do her business outside but she can’t stop doing it inside too..
Don’t know how to fix it so I’m suffering! 👍🏼👍🏼😁😁
keep working on it, it takes consistency, patience and time :)
Do you have any suggestions for good dog food to feed your dog!
We personally like Purina ProPlan and Royal Canin!
I’m getting an American golden retriever. I never liked the Canadian color.
So just to be clear... you didnt set an alarm for the night, you just waited for her to wake up?
Correct! I originally planned to set alarms but we just waited until she woke up and started crying, we let her tell us!
Is Larsey a red golden retriever? She's gorg!
She's not technically a red golden, but she looks like it! A lot of people think she's an Irish Setter when they see her.
Did she have to pee every time when you were taking her out every 30 minutes?
No but she did go a lot!
Cute Golden channel. Can we be friends?
