Yuichi (Satoshi Tsumabuki) is a construction worker who's lived his entire life in a dreary fishing village. With no girlfriend or friends, he spends his days working and looking after his grandparents, with no enjoyment in life other than his car. Meanwhile, Mitsuyo (Eri Fukatsu) also lives a monotonous life pacing between the men's clothing store where she works and the apartment where she lives with her sister.
When the two lonely souls meet using an online dating site, they immediately fall in love with each other. But there's a secret Yuichi had been keeping from Mitsuyo: he's the one who killed the woman whose murder had been in the news for days.
Though Yuichi tries to turn himself in, Mitsuyo stops him. Having discovered the joy of loving someone for the first time in their lives, the desperate lovers go on the run. They arrive at a lighthouse, where they find the time and place to share a blissful moment together. But their getaway begins to ensnare the lives of families of both the killer and the victim.
Why did Yuichi kill the woman?
Why did Mitsuyo love a killer?
What fate awaits the families who were torn apart?
As the desperate characters hit rock bottom and struggle between good and evil, a new question emerges:

One of the best movies I have ever seen
I loved this film... Beautiful navigation of the grey areas. Didnt get the sense it justified anything at all, but rather granted an elevated perspective on the action/reaction plight through a holistic storyline.
I was thinking watching this film the other day. Now that I watched the trailer and I found out that Hikari Mitsushima is in it, I really don't have any option.
It is one of the best movies that i've ever seen. Satoshi Tsumabuki have done a great job!

i totally agree. i think he did it out of love. For unknown reason, i only see the good nature of yuichi. I don't see him as a villain at all

did anybody else annoyed by sudden transition of background music? the 1st half was fitting to the movie's theme, delivering brooding and eerie effect, but the latter half.. :/
I understand he pretends to kill her at the end in order to permit her to leave "happy". But it's just a suggestion.
This movie totally caught me off guard, I was expecting some guess the killer type of movie, but it's not a typical crime movie. it makes me reflect on my life after watching it.
