MASTERCLASS 5: The Psychology of Aging, Strategies for Better Coping, presented by board certified neuropsychologist Dr. Karen D. Sullivan, sponsored by the Reid Fellowship for Healthcare Transformation of The Foundation of FirstHealth.
In this lecture, Dr. Sullivan discusses the unique psychological experience of older adulthood, including the interface between physical and mental health, retirement, life review and the multiple losses that are more common as we age. There is also an emphasis on the positive aspects of aging, including personal growth, wisdom and increased adaptability. The role of chronic stress on brain health will be discussed in detail. Recommendations focus on ways to enhance coping and improve quality of mental life as we age.
These videos have such high quality content and are presented so well. Thank you!
Wow! Another gem of a masterclass given by Dr. sullivan! Right now, there is an alarming shortage in Puerto Rico of professionals dedicated to geriatric health care and doctors in general. In today's newspapers, it was mentioned the high percentage of elders being abandoned by their families in our grid of hospitals . Sad. So sad. Gracias Dr Sullivan.
Thank you for your message, it means a lot. I agree with you about the need for more older adult experts!
Great master classes!
Thank you kindly!
Thank you Dr Sullivan. The content is second to none. I love listening and learning from you. Todays class helped me recognise why I sometimes behave as I do, you summed it up beautifully. I am super guilty of making up my own narrative regarding a close family member and will certainly practise being assertive instead of using avoidance for fear of conflict which usually ends badly. 🙏
Thank you for the great videos. They are very helpful. I'm 75 and my husband is 80.
Thank you so much for your videos. I suffer from extreme anxiety and need help.
Wow! That was a great video. Thank you so much for putting out all your effort into making these videos for all to benefit from.
Excellent presentation. Love the way you explain things so clearly, for example about the blood flow and long term effect on dendrites, and Maslow’s hierarchy. Thanks, and I hope many are helped with this information!
Love your classes. Trying to demand respect and learning to respect me as well. I journal everyday on my gratitude.
Love that!
