as someone who currently owns airpod maxes, sony xm5’s, and these beats studio pros, PLUG your beats in to charge the first time you unbox them. I don’t know why, but i’ve unboxed multiple pairs (4 pairs) of these new beats and they’re always out of sync volume wise when they’re unboxed. meaning if you change the volume on the headphones it doesn’t change the phones volume. this paired with subpar audio quality. the second you charge the headphones they sync properly, and the audio improves significantly. not a single review mentions this
Wow that’s crazy. Thanks for the tip. I have the XM5’s, Bose QC 2023, Sennheiser momentum 4, AirPods Max and Beats Studio pro. I’m not keeping them all but the APMX are the winner in my books. Saw the Beats Studio pro in brown and had to grab em bc the sale price was much lower than the other headphones mentioned above for holiday sales. Still haven’t opened them. Might just return them or keep them as a 2nd set of backup headphones to my main ones which are the APMX
I rather the Beats Studio Pro. Once the Beats get burned in they are the better choice. I had the Sony XM5 and I returned them. For one, the ANC is not superior, it’s subjective, and second…. You can’t turn the volume all the way up with out it trying to configure the sound which make it low. The Beats on the other hand gets really loud especially when you go in to music settings on the Apple ecosystem and turn off “Sound Check”.
XM5 get a lot of flack for not being foldable and the case being big but u brought up very good point I’ve not heard in other reviews….the XM case is thinner. I travel a lot and always bring a backpack and the XM5’s long thinner case fits perfect and is more in line with the shape of an iPad or computer so it just kind of layers better. Plus not being able to fold reduces hardware makimg them lighter.
I had both and I gave the Studio Pro away to my niece. The problem with Beats headphones, you cannot adjust an equalizer and they got rid of the bass. I kept the XM5's and been pretty happy with them so far. Based on the music I listen to I can choose from various EQ's or create my own and compared to the XM4's the bass is not all over the place but refined.
I bought a pair of the Studio Pros on sale for $180 and they were broken out of the box. A super loud hissing sound (Not the ANC) and the left speaker kept cutting out when songs bass would hit. I also have a bobble head and the beats were pretty dang tight on my head and not that comfortable. All surprising because my Studio 3's were great. I returned the studios and the store had XM5s for $250 and decided to try them out. Holy crap the XM5s are super nice. The controls and app on the XM5 are not the best and going from beats you will notice loss of convenience using something outside of the apple system but the noise canceling, sound quality, and comfort will quickly make you forgive this. In conclusion I wish I could have have afforded the Bose quite comfort ultra.
I can see from personal experience as a beats collector the beats studio pro headphones have the most solid, build quality of all the beach studios with this design and the studo3 have the finished and cheapest plastic out of all the headphones with this design and the studio 2.0 in between, but the pro is drastically better in terms of strength, even though it is thinner then the studio 2.0
I bought the beats on sale for $180 because i do like the sound signature. The ANC is good enough but not great. The fit is partially on ear but not uncomfy but also not super comfi, in between. At $180 its OKAY, but i surely would not pay $349, its just simply not worth $349. Also, i had to return the first set cause the left speaker was less powerful than right at any given sound level.
XM5 is an obvious win for quality, but then 7 months later, I'm commenting while Sony is still 300+ but the Beats now is 160 so it's a clear choice to get the Beats for me.
I was a loyal sony headphone user, I didn't have the XM5 but I had the XM4, the XM3 and XM5 esrbuds, even the cheaper XB910 and the app on these products is a game changer, the level of customization of ANC, EQ and even codec is very nice and convenient, in terms of sound, hands down to the XM earbuds! The bass and clarity was always there, on the other hand the headphones did not convinced me entirely, the lacking of bass on the XM4 and the muddiness of the XB910, I heard there is no much difference in sound signature between the XM4 and XM5 headphones, so maybe I wouldn't be so impressed, and finally the materials, they look and feel very nice at the beginning but after a few months you notice the cheapness on the built quality, they feel flimsy. Ovarall Sony make very good headphones and earbuds in functionality maybe they are the best, in sound quality I doubt it and according to materials and look they are on the bottom side, Beats look are so iconic and maybe a it's not worth a design change, I once had a solo 3 and let me tell you that my favorite part was the headphone design and the way they collpased also I really like the buttons on the side (they sound cheap, I know) but they are very durable, and comparing the sensations, materials and design I would pick Beats over Sony, anyway great review and comparison bro!!!
i’m looking forward to buy beats pro. What’s your recommendation in terms of sounds? Because for me I’m going for the sounds and the design on the products
I've just bought the XM5s (they're heavily discounted now, so nearly half price) to replace my XM3s and I'm surprised at the jump is sound quality and build quality. My friends have also commented on how much clearer I sound during online conversations; overall the XM5s are a big step up from XM3/XM4. I haven't tried the Beats but I always prioritise sound and build quality over looks.
Don't know why everyone says the Beats don't do multi-point connection. I connect to both my computer and phone every day and as i'm watching videos on my computer, it switches over to my phone automatically when I get a call.
I tried them both but settled with the Bose QC because it's the most comfortable out of the 3 (also tried the Momentum 4). I found the ANC to be great and the sound to be ok, altho the Sony sounds a bit better and its EQ is more customizable. I travel a lot and I found the Bose's case to be the best too because of its small footprint.
Good job with your review. It's refreshing dear someone speak clearly and have that chart on the top left of the screen. Only one complaint is you don't leave the chart up long enough. Maybe leave it for another 3 seconds that'll be fine. Thanks for your Review. I'm owner of A pair of Sony XM5. And I absolutely adore them.
@12:24 there is no flight in the world that's longer than 18hrs. Which would be if you were flying from Sydney, Australia to Newark, NJ and even that was just a promotional flight with Qantas back in 2019 when they received their first Boeing 787-9. The longest commercial flight currently is from NYC to Singapore which is 17hrs 30mins. I think I would do just fine with a Beats headphones.
First time viewer here, great in depth video! I have the Sony XM4's and I can't really find too many videos to compare to these new Beats headphones but this is one of the best that I've seen. One thing about the battery category that's important to note, the Sony's might have overall longer battery life but the fact that you can get 4 hours of play time with only 10 minutes of charge with the Beats might make up for that for some people. And I don't think you told us which ones you would choose? lol But again solid video!
So currently the beats are on a huge discount and are roughly $120 dollars cheaper than sony. I think they are a no brainer but wanted to confirm. Is it good?
If you are able to get the beats at 179$ like I did, beats win but if you buy them at retail price 350$ or 299$ discount Ill say nahhh go with the sony xm5 if they are at 329$ discount not 399$. I have both and if money was not an option ill go for the bose qc ultra.
The Sony xm5 are my go-to headphones. They are comfortable. Their ear pads are like pillows on my head. And the headband is great. Not perfect. They could have add more cushion on it, but it still comfortable as far as colors. If you waited long enough, you could get one of my favorite colors they make which is a navy blue and out of the black and silver. That would be the best color on the xm5. Also the sound quality is perfect. The bass is not too crazy and you get a fully refined application that allows you to custom and Tinker the headphones to your taste and for long flights. Also getting rid of noises when you just want to be in the groove with music the ANC on the Sony's is much better.
I'm up to almost 20 pairs of over the ear headphones (I collect stuff) and the truth is, you can't go wrong with either. I love different headphones for different experiences. Plane, traveling, sitting at home, go with the Sony. Hitting the gym, hands down, the Beats are the way to go. They stay in my head, just the way this gentleman mentioned. But again, this is a great time to be into over the ear headphones.

I really would like to know about the new Sony Ult Wear compared to the Beats.. WHY? Because the new ULTS are in a price sweet spot at 199$ and that's without the constant sales these things are always having. The Ult Wear JUST came out they're actually the sequel and upgrade version to the previous Sony BASS BOOSTED cans. The UPGRADE in terms of SOUND is supposedly QUITE SIGNIFICANT. These 200 Ult Wear vs the Beats in terms of sound quality I'd like to know about.

@@kingplayer321 Not really. At least compared to the XM5. Visit the XM5 subreddit and you'll see people complaining about the hinge breaking. Mine is still standing strong but every headphone is subject to some fault every now and then.
I ended up with the xm5's on sale for $250 and find them so much comfier on my bigger sized head and the noise canceling is night and day better. If looks, being in the apple eco system, and saving $70 I would say go for them.
@@TausifHussainmy boss is selling his pretty much brand new beats (he only used them 6 times in the past 5 months since he bought them) for $120 and he’s selling them because he prefers earbud, in this Situation which one would you choose? Are the Sony’s that much better to skip on this discount?
I had no idea Anwar Jibawi did headphone reviews. Nevertheless, I have the XM5 and after getting my best sound preference after hundreds of attempts on the App, I’m really enjoying my music on them now. I listen to mostly EDM and hip-hop. Great headphones if you tune them right.
It's a tough decision. The brown headphones look sooo good. Pretty disappointing that they need to be turned on if you want to use them with a wire. I love how the green bose qc headphones look too. Apparently the QC's have less bass than these beats pro and xm5's. Any thoughts on that? Thx
Depends what you like the quiet comfort are more accurate headphones they will indeed have less bass but more true to the source these new beats will sound like they have 0 bass compared to the older generations but it's still has a slight boost the xm5 has a huge boost you'll feel the most Rumble with the sony xm5 aka the fun factor and better sound quality everyone is kindof talking about I'm an audio purist so I like a more flat sound so the bose would be my personal choice but they do lack the low end Rumble they do have some decent bass when compared to the Sonys it will sound like they have little to no low end bass I own both my current favorite in the bose 700 nc more or less has the same sound as the bose quiet comfort but I personally like the fit of the 700 nc on my head more
I tried all 3 and went with the Bose. My priority was comfort and ANC since I use them to watch movies on my laptop just lounging around along with taking them to daily commutes to work. It had the best travel case too since it's small and it's hard-shell unlike the Beats. Sound quality isn't that much worse, it's just less fun because of its focus towards the mids and clarity but that's no big deal tbh hip hop is my fave genre and I can still listen to my favorite music with the Bose without issues.
I tried most of them and I picked the xm5. They have a really cool refined app that offers a lot of tinkering so you can play around with an adjust the headphones to your preferences between equalizers and sound stages. Now, it's not going to be as complex as the Bose app, but they offered me a lot of things that I wanted and take the majority of my boxes. I'm just happy. I waited to pick these up because Sony never disappoints when they release my favorite color from the ones they offer which is midnight blue to me. It looks better personally over the black and the silver. I also like the earpads they're very comfortable like pillows the headband could get improved a bit by having more cushion in it, but it's not terrible overall. They take my boxes and that's what I went with as I find that ANC stellar for long flights and when ever you want noise out it gets it done
@@jesuscervantesj82 yeah the blue XM5’s look sick. That’s the colour I chose but unfortunately I returned them. Way too many reports of them breaking at the hinge. I tested a bunch of different models and ended up choosing 2, probably overkill. But I love the AirPods Max and the green Bose QC’s. They both sound very good and look very good. Nothing can come close to the transparency mode on the APM. You can hear everything as though you’re not even wearing headphones. It’s unbelievable
The EQ option being absent was a HUGE mistake. ALMOST ALL of ths flagship headphones have a EQ option. Paying OVER 220ish ... The headphones SHOULD HAVE EQ. Much less 350$ no EQ ?!?! ARE THEY INSANE?!?! Come on BEATS!
So the XM5 is a great choice? I look and Here in Canada, including shipping, protection plans and taxes, the Xm5 are 458$, and the Apple airpods max 958$… 958$… Do you smoke apple? Oh and Great reviews + one sub!
haha i was gonna jump on the hype for 1000mx5 ..but I decided to play it smarter during the sales and bought 2 and compared. Honest review from someone who loves bass on my music, Mx4 is better sound its louder and bass is more defined. Battery is still great not much lower than MX5. mx5 sound is more balanced not as bass defined. which i know some ppl like more
I just upgraded from XM3 to XM5 and it's a big leap in sound quality, with much better defined bass and overall clarity. Only £100 cost to change after selling my XM3s on ebay, the XM5s are heavily discounted now. I was planning on keeping the XM3s, but the jump in quality is significant so I didn't see the point.
I just got the beats yesterday but I have to buy the xm4's and the xm5's to compare, I have some blue air pod maxes already, they are nice head phones as well, they are just a little bit heavy so I feel alot free'er wearing the lighter beats headphones.
I think that full price of beats should be max 200$, they can't get even close to sony. Headset from 2023 no auto pause/play no auto turn of/on... I think that apple did that on purpose to give huge advantage to airpods max and I hate that, because as you said beats are cool headset they are cool brand I want beats headset but I am limited with no features at all on them...
I bought the xm5 thinking it’s got to be the best, the anc and mic were top notch! But it just sounded like sound coming through a cardboard, tried all eq tuning but just couldn’t get it to my liking.
For 180$ I think I’m going to give the Beats Studio Pro a try, I never had over the head headphones before but the battery life on them is so superior to any earbuds it’s not even close.
Yeah, I bought it 2 months ago when it was 189, base on this price it's really worth it. For 349, there a lot of better choice headphones, but for 180? it is a very competitive headphone.
34/40 reviews I've read over the last 3ish years have the LATEST BOSE flagship cans RIIIIIIIGHT below the latest SONY flagship cans. The XM4 , XM5 AND the quiet comfort ultraa I think they're called now. Last 3 iterations of the Sonys and the Boss's have been reviewed as Best OVERALL for the Sonys and BARELY below them the Bose's VERY often the Bose's are ranked #1 in the ANC function of ALL for the last 3
You are actively lookig for something wrong with the beats. I own both. The beats have multipoint pairing. Please reveiw the product, dont just say things you think will be acceptable.
8:05 Like most things apple does, this also has a reason: Their newest chip has a VERY poor compatibility with non Apple devices. Try out the Airpods Pro 2nd Gen my man, and try it with non Apple Devices like Windows PCs (it's my working PC and i don't have the choice there) and also with my Samsung Phone (also my company's device), the Airpods "don't like" them that much, like they do their apple brothers and sisters. It's hard to nail it down, but one concrete example was: On Windows, i had A LONG TIME just the Headset Profile available, not the Stereo Profile like on my Airpods Pro 1st Gen. Ridiculous right? But when i connected the 2nd Gen Case over USB to the PC for charging, something strange happend: Windows started installing additional drives and the Stereo Profile was there all of the sudden. And my Samsung Android also has it's issue, sometimes the connection works in an instant, sometimes i need to UNLOCK device, mid call to connect to the airpods... em really? So like i said, there is a VALID reason why apple using their older, but much more compatible stuff in those! Don't get me wrong: On Apple Devices they work like a charm: iPad, Macbook Pro, iPhone, Apple Watch, Apple TV back and forth, forth and back
I think just shows how apple are ripping us all off by cut cost and selling them at premium price - personally I think the beats feel like a cheap set of headphones you find on amazon -

Are you an iPhone user?
The BSP are 491.50$
I’m deep in the Apple ecosystem but i need something to Work in noisy environments (#ADHD)
Also, I know it’s very specific, but can the XM5 be used for audio return on DSLR/Mirrorless cameras?
Oh and Great reviews + one sub!
Yea as a Canadian the AirPod maxes ARE NOT WORTH IT
Can the beats connect to my pc and iPhone at the same time?
haha i was gonna jump on the hype for 1000mx5 ..but I decided to play it smarter during the sales and bought 2 and compared.
What headphone is better?
@@ytix9823 they are pretty close honestly, but I'd say the XM4's are better and they are half the price
for apple what should i get
Beats
Sony XM5 or Huawei Freebuds studio?
If you’re gonna use the headphones for gym or work alone go for beats. The Sony will keep falling off
Anybody who has both? Which ones sound better for music?
Sony xm5! So far the best! 🥰
which backpack was that ?
Thanks for the info.
As a collector of nearly 20 over the ear headphones, I agree. And the beats are now selling for $179. That's the correct pricing.
I bought beats studio pro 1 week ago, it's the worst headphone that I've ever used.
Worst you ever used? Lol you have to try a few more and shouldn't judge at all until you have more experience
If you’re android user then no wonder why you didn’t like it cause it fits the iPhone users more
@xllerl not with this one. Actually these perform better on android.
Man reviewed headphones without mentioning how they sound
Apple makes Beats now, but they still want you to go after the Airpods so they probably make them worse on purpose
The bad thing that the Sony has is that when you use the Sony while wired, it can’t use the mic on the headphones
Everything I've ever read has the XM5s being THE BEST of ALL not just better than the BEATS. LET'S SEE what my man here says.
I bought the xm5 thinking it’s got to be the best, the anc and mic were top notch! But it just sounded like sound coming through a cardboard, tried all eq tuning but just couldn’t get it to my liking.
ooof lol. cardboard. you done em dirty 😅
My xm5's sound is great
my xm5s sounds incredible I guess sound is subjective
You gotta EQ them right
The sound is good but I feel like the only thing that it doesn’t really cancel is talking noise
I feel like the Beats Studio pro cancel the talking noise then the xm5. I might return them😭
For 180$ I think I’m going to give the Beats Studio Pro a try, I never had over the head headphones before but the battery life on them is so superior to any earbuds it’s not even close.
Yeah, I bought it 2 months ago when it was 189, base on this price it's really worth it. For 349, there a lot of better choice headphones, but for 180? it is a very competitive headphone.
WHAT ABOUT THE SOUND
Good review
Are you from Bangladesh?
No sir
34/40 reviews I've read over the last 3ish years have the LATEST BOSE flagship cans RIIIIIIIGHT below the latest SONY flagship cans. The XM4 , XM5 AND the quiet comfort ultraa I think they're called now. Last 3 iterations of the Sonys and the Boss's have been reviewed as Best OVERALL for the Sonys and BARELY below them the Bose's VERY often the Bose's are ranked #1 in the ANC function of ALL for the last 3
Sony went backward with the XM5 vs XM4 IMO. I prefer Beats over either Sony.
The Sony WH 1000 M5 is the Best...👍
My Beats studio buds automatically pair to any android device I am using.
You should've tried a Bose. The comfort is far superior than Sonys. Those earcups are the clouds, mot the XM5s.
The Beats earcups hurt my ears after a 2 hour movie. I think I will have to return them.
you buy the sony ult beacose is comfortable and have havy bass you can feel it beats went to die
I have the same exact sentiment about the Sony. I can’t get pass it 😭
My Solo Pros 2021 are sooooooo much better than the new studio in terms of tech and quality
I feel like beats for gym Sony for everything else
try the ULT WEAR THIS THE MOST FUNNIEST HEADPHONE EVERRRRRR
Don't get me wrong: On Apple Devices they work like a charm: iPad, Macbook Pro, iPhone, Apple Watch, Apple TV back and forth, forth and back
I got the beats for 180 at target
Great music
Sorry to ear but to me beat have a lot better sound than the . Sonys .. and with my small head beats a way better to me I don't take the plane anyway
I think just shows how apple are ripping us all off by cut cost and selling them at premium price - personally I think the beats feel like a cheap set of headphones you find on amazon -
bro really tried to make this a comp
These are wonderful on your head, except when they're about to fall off...
Hüseyin kardeşim kesinlikle Sony kazanır bu testi ama çok pahalı
Thanks for watching
I have borh❤
you mentioning your back pack being thin well of course stupid, it is because you were placing the headphones on the laptop pocket.
Apple now have them on sale for $200 so I got 2 pairs 😉
Try the AirPods Max, they blow both these headphones out of the water
come on, nobody gonna boxing with headphones
I do.
10:02 tf
Getting my Sonys those dre apple head phones are plastic trash
sorry but the beats is the best
Beats ain't shit nowadays. Xm5s destroys them
OWO
