NoVANLIFE: Convert SUV Ford Explorer 2005 into a Stealth Camper|Step by Step Instructions.

- You don't need a van to road trip in style!
Instead of a traditional summer wandering around, I kept myself busy working on a new camper setup (Luckily had a bunch of free recycled materials from work).
New and improved with a proper sink and cooking space. After a short trip around The Berkshires the only thing I would've done differently is making the sleeper platform a few inches lower.
Excited to test it on a road trip to Alaska or Panama once everything will calm down.

I thought this was going to be a video of someone talking about what they did to their explorer, with no script, repeating the same things over and over.
the quality of the video was just as amazing as the build itself. thank you for the no nonsense, right to the point, approach. the editing was amazingly satisfying as well.
Thank you! Happy you enjoyed it and hope this helps!
Not only is the build ingenious but the editing is also fantastic.
You got skills. Engineery and Artsy - rare combo. Nice work.
Wow, this is amazing! You’re extremely talented. Really nice, I like that it’s a partial build with just the middle seats out.
Wow, best SUV build I have seen. Well done.
wooow that's the best video ever, love yore car, now wont to do my
This has to be the ABSOLUTE best build Ive seen! Im about to start SUV Life and was looking for creative ways to give me the things I could not go without.....Cooking, Sink, Bed, Table & Storage. and the build doesn't even intimidate me. I definitely will be incorporating many of these ideas!! Excellent build buddy!! Damn Excellent!!!
Excellant. You have Maidas' hands skill.
Very impressive 👍well done! Thanks for sharing 🌺
Great video. Thanks for taking the time to do all the measurements. Very well done.
WOW!!!!! Nice build 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Stellar! I'm working on a build for my escape at the moment. Impressed by the kitchen in this one though!
thank you would love to see your finished product!
You are the first person I've seen with my idea of track strip for curtains. My 2012 Hyundai SUV has one continuous, seamless ceiling and sides. I would have loved to see the full view of many parts of your build! Example, the window was very clever and original, but you only showed it being snapped and drawn at a portion of the window. Also, it was difficult to view with the steps going so fast. I love the music and visuals, but it would be great if the visuals were slower for viewing. This build is worthy of showing full details in a slower mode.
That’s pretty cool. I like the kitchen setup
dang bro the editing on this video is wild
What a great use of space
Love your build! Ingenious..❤ Thank you for the great ideas.
Nice setup
Excellent editing! Sweet effects, great story, not too long or too short
Thank you so much!
Really great video man . The way you edited it was very nice and easy to follow . Thanks for the inspiration
Probably one of the most helpful videos on the topic, this deserves more views and stuff thanks
This is a very unique and pleasant video to watch. Great conversion you made.
Luv the video & the graphics 👍 good job
Incredible. I've got the same vehicle - 2004 - and designing something like this, but a little less permanent. Fantastic work!
Wow! i'm not sure what's more impressive. The buildout or the video. Awesome!
thank you!
Way to just kick ass 🏆🏆🏆
Brilliant job!!
Excellent job!
Excellent build!!! I'm brainstorming for my 4-door GMC Jimmy. Going to practice camping in my backyard first.
Sounds like a great idea! Your car has plenty of room! Two of us managed in a tiny Suzuki.
Wow! People are getting more creative! Well done!!!
Hello, I saw your vid. & I like what I see. I've been pick up truck camping, boon docking, dry camping, stealth, camping since the 80's. I used to travel a lot & drive across country 6X's a year due to the nature of my work. Coast to coast, border to border. You did it right on the outfit of your rig. Have fun, drive safe. 🤠🤠 P.S. your time date stamp is my B-day.
That’s awesome! You’re the og and inspiration. Haha we share bdays!
Very nice video love the animations 👍
Well done. 👍 I see so many people over do it with their builds. They end up not using most of the things they thought they would. This is very efficient and effective. I applaud your efforts and thank you for sharing them. I love getting ideas from others who have actually done it.😁
Thank you! Means a lot.
Absolutely awesome video bro! I have an 05 Aviator with 22s lol and I'm thinking about doing something similar. Thank u for the video

I used to build yachts, and built my 2000 explorer pretty similar. Love the SUV builds

You can start a business building those little cabinets for cars small vans trucks and suvs great job I definitely would pay you to do one for me. Many of us are not handy but want something nice like the one you built.
Amazing very nice setup bro 👍
Im looking for a new truck, but dont wanna sell my 06 Explorer as I feel it's undervalued & would rather keep it as a 2nd vehicle. Just start the process of converting it to a camper. Got a fridge installed, rear seats are out & currently figuring out how I wanna wire up my battery isolator + power inverter. Also hooked up a front & rear dashcam thats run to direct power, with an app, I can check up on her as long as shes near wifi or has a 4G modem in her.
That's a lot more room than I thought. I'm planning to get ford expedition so I can have an air conditioner because it's too hot in my region
yes there is plenty, but def get the ac!sometimes it is way too hot.
This is seriously impressive 👏
Thank you 🙏🏼
If you don't plan to have a passenger, it's a ton of space.. I built a tool box/ table where my passenger seat was
Чётко сделал, молорик👍
awesome build a ford flex also seems suitable for conversion
The coolest Ford covertion I've ever seen looking to do the same to mine
thank you and thats awesome!
Nice! I subscribed!
Thank you!
I've owned 2 - 2004 Explorers now I have a 2005 Eddie Bauer they are good trucks
Henry , I was wondering if you can advise me. My present car... 2002 Honda Accord. Needs work.. mechanic told me I need to replace rusted sub frame and gas tank leaking . Approx cost of 2500/3000. He also offered me a 2003 ford explorer for 3000 dollars if I choose not to fix my Honda. I'm a single woman . I'm stranded now with now means of transportation living in a secluded area. Also strapped for money. Lost my job. I heard Ford explorer was a terrible car. I don't know what to do. What do you think ?
Raven Raven
The Explorer is a dependable truck only if it's had regular tune ups and oil change the only thing I can advise before you buy one have the engine and transmission checked because the first thing with the Explorer transmission is one of the shift sensors may short out but they may cost about 25 to 40 dollars but other than that the transmission are good be sure the engine doesn't knock because the oil may not have been changed also a 2004 or a 2005 should only cost no more than 1500 dollars they are really inexpensive trucks that mechanic knows women don't know much about car's I pray that you take your time finding the right car or try going to a auction if not just message me again
@@henryevans2935 , I've been praying... The problem is how can I look for a car when I have no car to go looking... I'm trapped.. so the mechanic is overcharging for a 2003 explorer?
@@henryevans2935 , I'm not on Facebook... Is there something else. I went on craigslist this morning for my area... Nothing....thanks for trying to help.
Raven Raven
Do you have a family member or friends that you can use their device because you can find a auction that may be for people with out a dealers license
I want to do mines exactly like this
Really good job on the build! We've got a 1999 Mercury Mountaineer that is basically the same vehicle but wife says no to the conversion.
Haha maybe you can change her mind
Thank you so much for this.❤ Where you do live...can you show how to convert my 2000 explorer paid for in full. I'm in nursing school living out of my truck.
Going to try this out. Curious what you do when you'd like to cook outside? Would be epic to figure out a way to make those drawers from the kitchen unit come out and extend the opposite way outside to use as an outdoor platform to cook! Appreciate you putting this together man!
Def would be an epic addition. Thank you for supporting and good luck on your build!
Genius
I'm in!
I have just bought a 2004 Explorar I want to convert it like you thanks man
That’s awesome!
Great job! Converting my 2005 Explorer too!
I noticed you had some rear window storage that you built,
any chance you could explain how you made those?
Thank you! that's awesome! I was going to include it in this video, but I couldn't find the footage. I will make another video for it, but basically I cut all the parts out of cardboard first to make precise measurements.

Where is the Solar Panels ? I was looking forward to seeing them installed...
🔥
Nice work. However, I would have avoided mounting anything to the seats or vehicle because you may sell it some day. Other than that you have great ideas. It looks like you worked a lot of storage into it and leaving the wood natural looks really good. Overall, I am impressed.
great mods! That was so cool!
And I have one question about your sleeper support : how does it hold up so far?
and do you have enough head room after you put in the inflatable mattress?
We usually utilize the sleeper 10-30 nights a year and have no issues with it so far. We use a 2 inches camping sleeping mat and Alex can barely sit up (he is 6'1").
Ideally you should build your sleeper leaving enough room to sit up. It will make your life easier if you are planning to use it a lot.
Could you link to your sink sprayer faucet thing?
did you take the seats out yourself ? I have a new 2023 and the dealer i went to wont get rid of the seats but id like to do so .
Impressive!! Can you tell me how you put the screws on the headliner @ 5:18? Can I put screws on the wall of my minivan? Thank you 😊
Half an inch screws + double sided tape worked great for me, however there is not much weight on it.
What are you trying to hang?
Красавчик
Very nice! I will take some of your designs. What software did you use to do your video?
Thanks!
I used DaVinci Resolve and FlipaClip
00:42 remove middle row seats 00:53 51' x 78' x 31'
How many miles do you have in it and have you replace the engine?
