Apologies for the sound at the 2min mark. Not sure what happened but it is short-lived. What I am talking about is where I keep my head-lamp and how it is extremely versatile in that location. In the door I keep a blue shower curtain as seat cover for the front seat and also where I keep my stove and spoon.
Thank you! That head lamp use idea, as a reading or task light is super. I’ve been storing the headlamp on the headrest and only just started using it in situ, without removing it and strapping it on my head. Your suggestion to remove the 60% seat is a good one, then my living area is bigger than my sleeping area which mirrors life in an apartment and makes more sense, I appreciate your time and ideas.

I took my back bottom seat out and folded down the back of the seat which makes kind of a platform to put a mattress on. I have lots of pillows and blankets. and put material over the back windows for privacy.
Looking at doing something similar in my small car and you’ve really inspired me with your wooden platform to make a. More storage and b. The boot level with the back seats. Also your rolled foam mattress looks great. Thanks for this video.
Really good to hear that the video has been helpful and given you ideas. I ordered my mattress in a custom size measured to the space from GB Foam Direct and can highly recommend them...super comfortable and fits great
That's a clever set up, I'm really fond of this. My car is extremely tiny but I want to try something out, and you definitely gave me ideas for a good start. That's great, and so cool the dogs have their own space ❤️🐶
I love it. I drive a fiesta also and I have a large springer spaniel. usually I just end up not sleeping very much in the front seats. That's probably why I haven't done any more videos. This gives me food for thought.
I think you came here from Thomas Heaton's channel didn't you? Glad to hear it has provided some inspiration...happy to answer any more-specific questions about the build if you have any
Very well done. You can throw away the spare tire and have more room. I just built a bunk bed for my dog. Now he sleeps in his bed and my feet and legs are under the bunk. Happy camping.
Perfect advice/video. I’m also 5’5” with one small doggo (15 pounds max). I’ve been hoping to invest in a teardrop camper, but with 2 kids in college it’s not in the budget right now. I have a Ford C-Max hatchback that I can work with. I might invest in racks & a hardtop carrier because I do have a spare tire, but you gave me lots of great ideas. Thanks!!
@@WilderhopeAdventures No problem and thank you for sharing your set-up, I use my car as my office somewhat the same as you do for a camper (my bad habit that makes everything okay is iced coffee on the passenger side floor daily too 😂) it isn’t a hatch back though and now see this and have all these office idea that a hatchback would work perfect for so your video has made me look at hatchbacks a completely different way now! 🤙🏾❤️
I had a Nissan Frontier that I was planning on converting the back out but then mechanical issues came up and now I own a Ford Fiesta. I love this lil car but I’m happy to know I don’t have to let go of this dream :)
Just wow. Since yesterday I've started to watch the videos about the camping in the cars. Don't know why but I want to try it the next summer. Thanks a lot for sharing your experience!
I've had a thirsty Fiesta in the past, now in a 6 year old ultra eco Bmax with acres more space, seats go flat but basically same chassis as a smaller hatchback Recommend a 12v plug in shower for those out of the way spots, one end suctions onto car,the other in bucket of hot water..I think mine was around £15 online (Or Indian style bucket wash inside largest IKEA storage unit works too!)
I have been tempted by those but with limited privacy and space I have put the idea of a shower aside for now. I used a solar shower when my truck was my roadtripping vehicle in the US and there were millions of acres of public land to find privacy. I like the Bmax though...when it's time to sell I will look at something bigger

Just come across this video. As another comment said, it's quite difficult to find a good UK set up. Thanks for making it. Thanks. Glad it was helpful. I don't know if you have seen my Touran (original build and updated) conversion video which might give you some ideas too. Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy your car camping trip with your daughter.
brushed cotton sheets and a wool blanket may be a better choice than a quilt.. wool seems to have a natural quality to regulate heat, cotton sheets will absorb any sweat/humidity, also take up less space...
Get a second hand small roofbox for more of your stuff to make the inside of car a bit less cluttered? roof Great for all hiking/outdoors kit, food, water, Dogsfood/bowls and a golf/fishing umbrella to keep you dry when cooking by the tailgate. Fab.video though, well done you.👌
Hello dear. Well! You have certainly helped in my decision to 'rearrange' my 12 year old Peugeot hatchback. I've already had to sleep in it for several months last year, alongside my very heavy pollycotton tent so am familiar with its advantages and limitations. Being 5. 1' on one side and 4.11' on the other (got a few Dodgy bits about the body), I am ok to get in and out as I've developed my own little methods for doing things because of the limitations in my joints. So far I've done ok but I want improve my living/sleeping area. Atm, I am in temp accommodation but don't ever want to go back permanently to conventional living and one day hope to have a campervan. Sadly, my lovely air tent is now too big and heavy for me to manage so I shall get a trailer tent instead. There are some very well priced ones out there to fit my car. This will also give me the privacy needed for the essential loo! As for showers there are always the camping and caravan club sites of which I am a member. And of course swimming pools! At nearly 66 and about to draw my state pension, I need to get moving again and be outdoors. I've hid away for the last 6 months so time to hit the road again (hopefully not literally.) But do need to look at converting my car. While the seat fold down good it would give me so much more room with the back ones out. So any suggestions and/or advice from you or your viewers would be most welcome. It's just me. No animals or other humans! 🙋🙏🙂
great vlog when i used to live in my car i used to sleep in the front seat and i am 6ft tall and its comfy enough all i would say if you sleep in the front seat etc make sure you can extend your legs fully so that you dont get cramp etc but i used to live in a vauxhall astra and i used to keep everything in the boot with parcel shelf in normal position but used to acess contents from the boot from within the car via the rear split seats etc and to do this you need to keep the back seats empty to access the boot etc and i used to keep tinned food in the passenger doorwell etc and i usedto buy a drive thru breakfast which if you buy a hot coffee it removes the need to carry a cooking stove etc and you can use the bathroom facilities at a drivethru or service station or supermarket etc free showers are available at motorway service stations etc hope my experience off living in a small car helps

Mine is Ford Escape. Took out one of the back seats, but next summer will take out the other. One side did not cut it for me and my dog. Thank you for the ideas.
A nice car to be working with there...a little more room. I completely agree with one side not being enough...makes it feel cramped. Glad there was a little inspiration in this video for you and hope you enjoy the summer and are able to get out for some adventures :-)
Really clever solution. I think a fiesta is too small for me (5ft 11) but might have a go at knocking something together with my small car (Seat Leon) really nice setup, you can see how you've learned improvements you've made over time, thanks for sharing your idea with us.
Thanky you. I had thought about something like that, especially for days when it is raining and I want to be able to cook. I haven't quite figured out how to do it yet but it is a concept in the works. Thanks for reminding me
I use a simple car cover and some magnets to fix it on one side of the rooftop. When I open the back door to this side, it creates a small covered space. Enough to change clothes and have some kind of privacy.
I'm moving back to Europe in a couple of months. I'll travel a lot in a small car since gas is expensive there. . You gave me some great ideas. Thanks.
Just start out to live in my car for about 2 weeks now and doing okay so far ! I don't know how long I will have to live in my car, but as long as I have to when I don't have other options. The thing I love to rather live in my car than living with family's members on their property is that freedom. Even living with my brother still not okay sometimes because he has his own family and his own life and sometimes we still have a little disagreement between each others, so I think living on my own even in my Toyota sedan is still a better choice so I don't have to rely on anybody and have to live under their rules. I am free like a dove now !!!
Thanks so much for sharing...Luv ur minimulist life style....me too but in a minivan gifted from my son,, so great to just jumpin, take off to b in the country, without all those household gimicks...keep it on..b safe😷
Brilliant! A truly awesome set up - hard work - but awesome. I fell in love with you the second you popped that bottle of Hop House 13 from your boot to the floor at 8:10 😂 A new SUB from me June 2021. I can only see two minor things that would make your life MUCH more bearable... A cheap, (or expensive if you wish) pop up gazebo that would cover the rear of the car when cooking, raining etc...I have one for exactly that reason with my Camper-car.....And secondly, a roof rack with a roof box to store it and a few other bits in. When I added a roof box to mine ... the amount of extra space was amazing! Love this video. 👍🏻
Thank you. As far as the suggestions...couldn't agree more. As far as the first (the gazebo): I am always stealth camping in remote areas so the awning would just have been too obvious, but yes, if I was utilizing campsites...absolutely. And the second...I didn't want to put too much money into the build as it's never going to be a forever car. In fact keep your eyes out for a new video in August!!!
You could do with a tailgate tent for shade and shelter … they are great … and you can cook in all weather … plus use a bladder shower and loo in privacy …I car camp regularly … very cheap … wishing you well … 🙏☘️😘
I've actually been looking into them, although not stealthy for the kind of camping I do (99% non-campsite camping). Would be good for campsites or just up for day time bad weather though.
@@WilderhopeAdventures Understand completely … I use the Dongbin hatchback/ tailgate awning/ tent ish thing … fits securely in most weather, waterproof, has a fly net and an optional put up awning (thus isn’t sturdy, but good for sun) …cost around 60e a few years back … now this I wouldn’t be without. … I use my tent version only when I’m staying at friend’s land … the very odd occasion when I use a campsite they’re great to leave up to “mark my territory” 😀 when I go shopping or whatever ! Like yourself I travel off the beaten track and being stealthy means I can sleep anywhere, even in main streets of major cities … and down or up narrow twisty paths … this is the advantage of car camping … I’m not long back from car camping in Portugal, Spain and Ireland (in a Santa Fe) … Im 60 plus solo female intending to go full time nomad … I’ve been looking at loads of camper vans … they have got so expensive … and I think I probably need a self build as 4wheel drive, higher suspension and all terrain tyres is what I need to go fully off track and fully nomad, so it needs to carefully designed for full-time living … more time and money is required ! So as an intermediate compromise (coz I’m planning Portugal again in November) just picked up a Citroen C4 Grand Picasso, for a couple of thousand (cheap) … so I’ll do some adjustments to exterior of this, but, currently designing its interior … (my Hyundai Santa Fe may look big but interior so awkward not suitable for long term travel and it’s 18 years old ! ) I am so pleased that younger solo females are beginning to have the confidence to get out there and live on the wild side … there wasn’t the opportunities for nomadic living and working in my younger days … so from 17 I’ve had many car campers, camper vans, even a couple of small caravans … I travelled at every opportunity (during holidays and week ends) on the ‘Continent’ (as it was known then, now Europe) … later with two children I travelled around Ireland and UK … this was long long before nomadic living was in vogue and solo female travelling unheard of !!! Being over 60 I’m not as bendy as I used to be !!! 😀 so I know soon I’ve gotta upsize, especially for full time travelling … I pass this ‘potted history’ on to you by way of supporting your adventures and hopefully on those days when you’re feeling a little cramped you’ll remember as a young , fit , healthy , adventurous woman you are so blessed to be car camping for real hard to reach , spectacular nooks of the country you are in … leave the bigger rigs for us oldies ! 😅😂 Embrace your lifestyle as time sure does fly in … sending you love , light , happiness , health , positivity and peace … 🙏☘️😘
@@portugalonawingandaprayer473 Hi Hazel and thanks for your reply. Love a little bit of sage advice to share with others...while no spring chicken myself anymore I do appreciate being able to crawl into a Fiesta still, although my recent upgrade is to a Touran...mostly for a fixed bed and the ability to sit up in bed, as well as less faff for setting up and take down, esp in bad weather. The Touran isn't much bigger than the Fiesta in reality so still fits in some of those great nooks others can't go in bigger vehicles (just barely long enough for a fixed bed for me at 5'5"). I'm going to look into the awning you suggested so thanks for that 😃Take care and have a lovely day😁
Very nice arrangements....mount foldable solar pnels on the top keeping solar controller and separate battery within.... Use car battery only for self start, headlights, indicators and horn.... All other power draw from solar.... Carry a portable foldable 🚽 keeping a separate jerrycan for grey water, if possible turn a small pot into a sink, draw water for it through a tiny dc motor which will again work on solar... on the roof keep a foldable awning, some collapsible camp chairs and table.... Keep a tiny tent also ready just in case there is some problem inside the car cabin.... Anyways, liked your video and hence gave a few suggestions for a tension free journey... Good luck, stay safe.

Ingenious. It's truly amazing that you've achieved so much in such a small space and even your two dogs get to travel in style. Really enjoyed your enthusiasm for this way of travelling, so well done. Stay safe.
Thank you for the lovely comment and the feedback on the conversion. Have some improvements to work on over the winter before I head out again
I dont mean to be off topic but does anyone know of a method to get back into an instagram account?

@Salvador Keaton i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm in the hacking process atm.

@Salvador Keaton It did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thank you so much you really help me out!
Thanks for this, great ideas. Have bigger car and am only 4'11", so sure can make it work. Awesome that you get both dogs in too.
Great to hear. Anything bigger is a plus...I miss the size of the estate I had, but not the mechanical issues. Thanks for watching :-)
I love that you go camping with your dogs. I want to go camping with my dog in my SUV. I’m inspired!
Definitely go for it...dogs make everything better
Thanks! I have a 2012 Fiesta & the back seats don’t lie flat. Thanks for showing your platform !
Go for it! Really glad to hear this helped you out with some ideas for you going forward.
Wow. Can’t believe u got it all in. Great setup
Thanks. It has taken a year to get it to this point...got some upgrades to do over winter, now that I'm working fulltime too
Lovely idea! I have a three door but would love to give it a go. Thanks for posting 😊
The three door Fiestas are actually pretty good as the front seats move/tilt further forward because if access. You can definitely make it work :-)
I love it. I drive a fiesta also and I have a large springer spaniel. usually I just end up not sleeping very much in the front seats. That's probably why I haven't done any more videos. This gives me food for thought.
I think you came here from Thomas Heaton's channel didn't you? Glad to hear it has provided some inspiration...happy to answer any more-specific questions about the build if you have any
@@WilderhopeAdventures Thank but it will be a while yet before I start but great video none the less
Very well done. You can throw away the spare tire and have more room. I just built a bunk bed for my dog. Now he sleeps in his bed and my feet and legs are under the bunk. Happy camping.
This car didn't come with a spare tire; very few do these days. My Touran doesn't have one either

No spare. Boy I'd have a hard time with that.
I just went from a Nissan Murano to a Ford Fiesta. Thanks for the video as I plan on doing some camping soon.

Really ingenious, very well thought out. Good luck .....Take care, Jack.
Thank you. Appreciate the comment :-)
I've had a thirsty Fiesta in the past, now in a 6 year old ultra eco Bmax with acres more space, seats go flat but basically same chassis as a smaller hatchback
Recommend a 12v plug in shower for those out of the way spots, one end suctions onto car,the other in bucket of hot water..I think mine was around £15 online
(Or Indian style bucket wash inside largest IKEA storage unit works too!)
I have been tempted by those but with limited privacy and space I have put the idea of a shower aside for now. I used a solar shower when my truck was my roadtripping vehicle in the US and there were millions of acres of public land to find privacy. I like the Bmax though...when it's time to sell I will look at something bigger
Must have missed this video when you first posted it. This is really creative CJ. Certainly nothing stopping you from travelling anywhere for your adventures once Covid restrictions allow.
Definitely been the one that has brought the most traffic to my channel. Been out with it a lot....Yorkshire, Devon, Cornwall etc...all upcoming adventure/roadtrip videos. And hopefully more to come in the not to distant future
Great Setup You have inspired me to try this with my Nissan Versa! I'm 4'8 and pretty sure I can sleep in the back seat comfortably if I add additional width to the back seat. I can set up my trunk in three to 4 parts 1. KITCHEN 2. CLOTHES 3. GARAGE 4. MISCELLANEOUS

Hello dear. 🙋🙏🙂
great vlog
when i used to live in my car i used to sleep in the front seat and i am 6ft tall and its comfy enough
all i would say if you sleep in the front seat etc make sure you can extend your legs fully so that you dont get cramp etc
but i used to live in a vauxhall astra and i used to keep everything in the boot with parcel shelf in normal position but used to acess contents from the boot from within the car via the rear split seats etc and to do this you need to keep the back seats empty to access the boot etc
and i used to keep tinned food in the passenger doorwell etc
and i usedto buy a drive thru breakfast which if you buy a hot coffee it removes the need to carry a cooking stove etc and you can use the bathroom facilities at a drivethru or service station or supermarket etc
free showers are available at motorway service stations etc
hope my experience off living in a small car helps

Sounds great!
Great setup in your Fiesta! You could add a tarp over the boot when it’s open to the ground with pegs while you are cooking/changing etc.
Thanks
Some shower curtains have magnets in hems, wonder if those could attach upside down to outside of hatch?

Just start out to live in my car for about 2 weeks now and doing okay so far ! I don't know how long I will have to live in my car, but as long as I have to when I don't have other options. The thing I love to rather live in my car than living with family's members on their property is that freedom. Even living with my brother still not okay sometimes because he has his own family and his own life and sometimes we still have a little disagreement between each others, so I think living on my own even in my Toyota sedan is still a better choice so I don't have to rely on anybody and have to live under their rules. I am free like a dove now !!!
There is definitely a kind of freedom that comes from living that way. Good luck to you and I hope everything goes okay. Take care of yourself :-)

Very impressive design. Well done you, enjoy 💕❤️💕❤️
Very practical and well equipped for a micro camper !!!
Thank you :-)
You could do with a tailgate tent for shade and shelter … they are great … and you can cook in all weather … plus use a bladder shower and loo in privacy …I car camp regularly … very cheap … wishing you well … 🙏☘️😘
I've actually been looking into them, although not stealthy for the kind of camping I do (99% non-campsite camping). Would be good for campsites or just up for day time bad weather though.
@@WilderhopeAdventures
Understand completely … I use the Dongbin hatchback/ tailgate awning/ tent ish thing … fits securely in most weather, waterproof, has a fly net and an optional put up awning (thus isn’t sturdy, but good for sun) …cost around 60e a few years back … now this I wouldn’t be without.
… I use my tent version only when I’m staying at friend’s land … the very odd occasion when I use a campsite they’re great to leave up to “mark my territory” 😀 when I go shopping or whatever !
Like yourself I travel off the beaten track and being stealthy means I can sleep anywhere, even in main streets of major cities … and down or up narrow twisty paths … this is the advantage of car camping …
I’m not long back from car camping in Portugal, Spain and Ireland (in a Santa Fe) … Im 60 plus solo female intending to go full time nomad … I’ve been looking at loads of camper vans … they have got so expensive … and I think I probably need a self build as 4wheel drive, higher suspension and all terrain tyres is what I need to go fully off track and fully nomad, so it needs to carefully designed for full-time living … more time and money is required !
So as an intermediate compromise (coz I’m planning Portugal again in November) just picked up a Citroen C4 Grand Picasso, for a couple of thousand (cheap) … so I’ll do some adjustments to exterior of this, but, currently designing its interior … (my Hyundai Santa Fe may look big but interior so awkward not suitable for long term travel and it’s 18 years old ! )
I am so pleased that younger solo females are beginning to have the confidence to get out there and live on the wild side … there wasn’t the opportunities for nomadic living and working in my younger days … so from 17 I’ve had many car campers, camper vans, even a couple of small caravans … I travelled at every opportunity (during holidays and week ends) on the ‘Continent’ (as it was known then, now Europe) … later with two children I travelled around Ireland and UK … this was long long before nomadic living was in vogue and solo female travelling unheard of !!!
Embrace your lifestyle as time sure does fly in … sending you love , light , happiness , health , positivity and peace … 🙏☘️😘
Great suggestions, thank you. I don't have the Fiesta any more but those are some of the ideas I have incorporated into my new micro camper (folding toilet, folding solar panel and Jackery, camp table and chairs as I knew I wanted a more inclusive experience and better usage of space. Hopefully someone else can also learn from your suggestions :-)

That's truly amazing. Thank you for sharing!
Certainly very inspiring.
Interesting set up. 👍
I do a lot of car camping myself travelling all over the UK in a Ford C Max, same floor pan as your car but higher.
Very cool! I would definitely benefit from a little more roof space in this
Same here but BMax
Brilliant, thanks for explaining how to do it. Just getting into this with a Vauxhall Corsa around Norfolk. x
