Today we are taking a look at SKXMOD and their Casioak Ultra moding kit!! It is definietly the best on the market as they make a whole case which is even thinner than the original. But what really sets them apart and why EVERYONE whon owns a GA2100 should check them out are the customizable hands and dials as well as lumed markers!!
I made a Casioak, but the plan is to take a bone stock GA2100 and just fix the LUME issue!! - Навчання та стиль
Great looking mod, and I agree that this should have been a part of the original design. Well done, and thanks for sharing
Same as mine, but I "fixed" three other things that bothered me: Black pusher buttons, black screws and black case back.
I'm currently contempateing filling the indents in the chapter ring witrh grey lines of paint, then I think itwould be perfect.
I did exactly the same mod. I was quite disappointed when I found out after buying that the markers didn't have lume on them so I did the mod and now it's much better. I don't understand that Casio didn't realize how popular lume is. With the mod it's great to go to parties with a lot of black light as it glows like crazy and you always know directly what time it is, it's looks also very pretty under black light when you just dancing around :).
OMG...followed the SKX Mods link and I am blown away with the amount of choices for color, both hands and the ring.
I am thinking of going w white painted hands for maximum contrast. Loving the Japanese music on this one!!! 🔥 ❤
I had white first but found it stood out way too much and ruined the whole "stealth look"of this model, swithced to grey later, looks much better imo.
The upcoming GA-2100HD-8A has a full lumed dial straight from the factory. It's part of the new 'Hidden Glow' series apparently. G Central has an article on it.
Love the SKXMods upgrades for this model though I have to say, though I have yet to get one myself. Looking into it, it's just a shame that Casio made the GA-B2100 (Solar Bluetooth version) differently to the standard model in the video, so replacing the hour marker ring on that one isn't possible without removing the crystal as I understand it.
Yeah I was excited until I found out you have to remove the crystal. I don't have the tools sadly... Oh well at least the double LED does a pretty good job of illuminating the dial.
Given that the inner case is resin/carbon composite I do wonder if it's even a good idea to remove the crystal and if you'd get a proper fit again when you reinstalled it. I'd be terrified of the inner case breaking or chipping out at the edge. I'll have to check YT and see if someone has replaced a crystal in these and how difficult or perilous the process is.
Thank goodness for those double LEDs!
I bought a GAB2100 from an AD and was sent a display model for some reason. The mineral crystal was beyond scratched up so I replaced it with a sapphire crystal. Not difficult in my opinion. There is a black plastic gasket between the crystal and the composite case that is friction fit. The old crystal and gasket slid right out with minimal pressure. The gasket then compresses when the new crystal is pressed in. Very tight fit between the crystal and the composite case. There is no lip in the composite case for the crystal. It is not clipped in, rather held in by friction with the gasket wedged tightly in between. No risk of chipping or breaking the inner case. Tested water resistance afterwards and it did well. The hardest part was putting it back together without a single spec of dust.
@@Retravel-mc7du Perhaps I'll give it a try then. Where did you find a sapphire crystal if you don't mind me asking?
Thank you so much for that info! I was wondering about doing this and how the composite case would hold up. It's good to know that it can take the crystal replacement without issue. Did you use a watch press to get the original crystal out or did you use a different method?
I know what you mean about dust! That can be a real pain. I think that doing things like this in a kitchen is best as no soft furnishings or carpets make for a less dusty environment. Getting every spec of dust out is hard but glad you were able to get it done.
One thing everyone agrees on. glowing markers, positive display in an all black solar option. Nice video.
Glowing markers, positive display, colourful design that is actually legible.
Nope. Negative display for me too, for the same reasons as stated in this video. I like that it is there when I need it but I don't want it to be too obvious.
Very nice! I love this watch.
Allmost perfect. We need a seconds hand, to make it perfect.
That is a nice mod. Thanks
You absolutely right about hour mark lum
@Watch Geek You Did An Excellent Job Modifying This Watch, Making It Even Greater!!! It Looks Awesome On You!!! 💪💪💪💪💪
Thanks 😁👍
@@WatchGeek You're Very Welcome!!! 😎✌️
I really like your mod but changing the hands it's what scares me the most. If you don't mind, what tools have you used and how difficult was, changing hands?
My question also?
I just need sapphire crystal on my ga b2100 and I'm done, do you know the crystal dimension or is it available at all? Can't find anywhere in my country
could you shake test a moded metal bezel? I'm worried about the metal case compromising the durability. I've heard that orignial GM's have little gaskets where the case screws rest on which are missing on the metal case mods.
Absolutely love it! I hope there will be a same mod you got for the BT/Solar version. Did you perhaps make a video of doing the mod itself?
There is, it's only slightly more complex to do, as you have to pop the crystal out to replace the hour markers
@@WatchGeek Thank you! Yes, I noticed. I will keep this project for a later date.
I do wanted to tell you that after watching this video, I just purchased two GA-B2100's. The black one and green one. Your channel has made me buy more G-Shocks than ever haha :D All the best to you and your family! Have a great week.
Where can be the lumed ring buying for the GA-B2100?
Nice but it's not perfect: still needs a STN/MIP LCD screen and Multiband 6 (the Casio Watches app is atrocious too, someone needs make a 'freeware' version of that)
Casio G-Shock Smart Sync
Totally should have lume, but it's still a "cheap watch"
Not being solar and band 6 it relly keeps the price down.
I just got the manga limited ga2100
And was thinking would a oil mod work particularly well on this model? Or would it be a problem with this model because of the hands.
You should have also replaced the hand set with longer ones. That is a recurring negative with almost all analog G-Shocks: short, stunted-looking hands.
Your mod does look great, but how come the light on the Casioak doesn't count when the digital G-Shocks rely 100% on the light after dark? I love my GM-2100c, the chromed indices really catch the light, so it's legible even in dim conditions and excellent when the light comes on.
Depends on the variant, the all black model I reviewed was HORRIBLE even with the light turned on, the chrome, gold and white markers are slightly better, but having them completely lumed is the way to go
This video has some Tracktion on G-Central. 👍🏽
So I mentioned that I found this on G central. With that said I was wondering if this can be done to the GST-B100. This model has no lume worth mentioning only on the hands.
~ I want to - "THANK YOU" - for this modification, as it helped me (finally) - "pull the trigger" - on a purchase of this watch for my collection! ~
~ I (also) ordered the same hands and hour markers (as suggested) and they're on the way now and I am looking forward to completing this modification myself.
~ I had the same thoughts as you, concerning this particular watch and I was looking for some viable remedies to correct this watch to make it appealing and (then) finding out that you had finally done it, was a life-saver!
~ I'm looking forward to another (possible) G-Shock to add to my collection of - "daily usage Gs"
~ KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK! ~ 👍
You Absoflogginglutely Did👏👏👏🥃
This mod is good, but I donn't care that much. The faux royal oak with the fake crown is just like no, no no.
Thanks for the video it’s a nice watch the only thing I don’t like about it, around 12 o’clock it’s missing a minute markers.😮
I WAS going to buy one but the ring is 24 ans the shipping is $15 fuckin dollers!?
Perfect watch ... however, setting the time on a GA 2100 is a real pain in the *rse
Hey I was the first one to like and comment and also the first one to like this comment.😁
