Gospelspeak #77: The Ancient Ones

After the destruction of the Nephite nation, Moroni, son of Mormon, is given charge of the records. Among those were the 24 gold plates recovered by the people of Limhi containing the writings of the Prophet Ether which told the story of the Jaredites and their journey from the Tower of Babel to the promised land. Over the course of more than 1500 years, the Jaredites developed a thriving civilization and became a great people. However, as is often the case, the people turned from the protection of their God Jesus Christ and were destroyed to the last man. There are many fascinating correlations between the story of the Jaredite nation as recorded in the Book of Ether, and the archaeological record of the Olmec nation on the western coast of modern-day Mexico - a civilization, which around the year 400 B.C. vanished from the records of history.
