“In this world, bones will still break. Hearts will still break.” That’s a line from Season 2, but it’s especially true of Season 4, Episode Three. This one’s hard to watch, but we did it together and then talked it over afterwards.
    - EPISODE THREE, “MOON TO BLOOD”: When Jesus heals a blind man on the Sabbath, religious leaders confront him, drawing a riotous crowd. Gaius defies a direct order leading Quintus to take matters-and someone’s life-into his own hands.
    - A talk we had to have with JOEY VAHEDI (Thomas) and YASMINE AL-BUSTAMI (Ramah) about how this episode has affected them
    - NEW GIFT inspired by one of the hardest-hitting moments in the episode
    - YOUR PREVIEW of Episode 4, coming June 13th

Peter giving comfort to Thomas shows growth in His understanding. He lost a baby and had to wrestle with the fact that Jesus didn’t prevent it. Now Peter comforts Thomas.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too

My partner of 24 years has terminal liver cancer. He has suffered for 3 years and throughout that time he has firmly believed that God will heal him. He has Covid now and is struggling to stay alive as he is not ready to go home to the Lord. He has fought the good fight and has kept the faith, but God has not healed him. It is hard to stand by and see someone suffer so much. But we both cling to the goodness and faithfulness of God.

As a start point, can I point you to a video you can find Art Thomas video : 10 things Jesus never said about healing. Then look up some teaching from Andrew Wommack, Curry Blake etc. Kathryn Krick. Jesus has healing for ALL who come to Him. Just mostly us the people (and those who are shepherds) do not - or are not willing - to take the risks and humility to see healing happen for more. Find believers who will believe for healing for her. Sometimes what we say is Him saying "Not My will" is actually us (or leaders) making excuses for our lack of faith. And we ought not to be condemned over a lack of faith, because faith comes by hearing....So a lack of faith/results is not something to feel condemned about, as it is something we can do something about by hearing & feeding our tiny faith with God's truth about healing, and we will receive. We just often give up too easily. Faith comes by hearing....She can still hear, so fill her room with faith, healing & worship & healing scriptures. Blessings. Salvation from the cross includes healing.

@@isaactheworshipwarrior6687 Haha - yeah, more than half the show it seems the Bible is made into the style of Dallas' The Chosen. But in the spirit of that quote and its punchiness, it is as if the Bible was The Chosen. And simply begging for that type of response.
I was waiting for the "Have I been with you so long, Phillip, and yet you have not known me?" chapter. But that would be playing too many tricks with Dallas, the Scriptwriter.

As a critic of the death scene of Ramah, I have one final thought after seeing this episode on TV. Jesus said, "It is not her time." Meaning, it is not her time for resurrection. Perhaps, on the day of Jesus' resurrection, in the movie/story, Ramah then will be resurrected, along with other "saints" (biblical). All this for the glory of God! Perhaps this day of resurrection for Ramah will be pivotal for Thomas's belief in Jesus. I can only hope.... that some good will come from that horrific death scene. One other thing I would like to say - Jasmine is an amazing actress. She did a fantastic job portraying Ramah. She has a wonderful career ahead of her. Thank you, Jasmine for your dedication to this project. It did not go unnoticed nor unappreciated.

    • @gigahorse1475
      @gigahorse1475 17 днів тому +1

That is a really smart idea… it would make so much sense if she was one of the resurrected saints! Wow! The one problem I had with her death in this episode was that Jesus told Thomas he would marry them. So if she comes back, that would mean Jesus kept His word.

@@gigahorse1475 I don't remember him expressly saying he would marry them. Think he said let's see what happens after this trip or something to that effect. So in essence he told them he was okay with the intent of their union but not that they would actually get married.

      @condoguy710 17 днів тому +4

I think so too, but in the short term I think this death scene and Jesus lack of awareness that it happened shows how inconsistent the show portrays Jesus. He heals Eden's mother of a fever but leaves her to suffer a miscarriage and provokes Simon to abject disrespect of the miracle of the loaves and fish as Jesus ignores his plight entirely.

    • @RebeccaBosch07
      @RebeccaBosch07 17 днів тому +10

Ramah's death and Jesus' response to it is inconsistent with the Jesus of the Bible. The bible says in multiple places that Jesus healed ALL who were sick and came to him. How can the disciples possibly trust him after this tragic scene, where he looks up to the Father in heaven and gets a "no". I am not sure how this season will recover from this confusion and disappointment. We'll see. So yes, I too am a critic of this death scene, because it portrays Jesus as flaky and not truly willing to save and heal.

My only daughter died on July 21, 2023. She had her 5th chemo tx and was dead in 48 hours. She is not suffering now. We prayed for healing and for her to be whole. She is wonderfully healed and whole. Her body could no longer sustain life, and in love and mercy He took her home. As far as Ramah, it is happening everyday since Ham came off the mountain. Young virgins and innocents are dying needlessly everyday. It happened over and over in his time and history. That is biblical too. If all the things Christ did were written, the earth and the heavens couldn't hold the books. The child on baal's alter was innocent. You handled that masterfully. If you know, you know. As a Mother that has lost her child, believe me, Ramah's fictional death makes sense.

My good friend and I saw this episode in theatres together. We both lost a very close mutual friend two years prior, very unexpectedly. I don’t think we both knew just how little we had healed from that trauma until this episode was watched. There were no words, just pure and unfiltered emotion that poured out of the both of us. We held hands and sobbed.
There was truth to what was said. It wasn’t my friend’s time, but it was God’s plan all along. As hard and impossible to feel like that was the truth, God gives and He takes away for a reason! Seeing Jesus say those words to Thomas was like finally getting the comfort my heart was so desperately searching for since her death.
I am so thankful for the Chosen not shying away from the harsh reality that is deep loss. This is God showing His love and comfort in areas of life that no other thing in this lifetime could come close to healing ❤️ From the very bottom of my now healing heart, thank you!!

I lost my daddy last year. He was only 51. I've struggled with it a lot. It's very traumatic watching someone you love slowly pass away when you put all your faith in a miracle happening. When Reyna said all she wanted was for Thomas to still follow Jesus, it really resonated with me because my mama told me she didn't want me to blame God. She didn't want me to leave Him or lose my relationship with Him. The last words my daddy said to me were, "Don't cry." Almost a year later, I was reading a Bible story to my son and it was the widow who's son had died and Jesus had come up to her and He said, "Don't cry", and then raised her son from the dead. Idk if I'm right about this, but I always felt like this was God speaking through my daddy. Also, Ramah is so beautiful! I think Thomas is going to have a very hard time when Jesus raises Lazarus. When Jesus was walking to them when Ramah was stabbed, I was saying, "Please, Jesus, save her!" It's so sad, but I feel like this scene is going to resonate with a lot of people who have lost loved ones.❤

When we lost Dad I was angry because my Dad was a pastor, I didn't think he wouldn't pass away but the Lord took him home I had to find peace and ask Jesus to forgive my anger. I know I will see both my parents again, I have peace knowing where they are. Death is hard and living without your loved ones is not easy! I still miss them, but I know they are with our Lord and savior Jesus and they are healed and not suffering.

This was my second time watching Episode 3. Once in the Theater where I sat motionless with tears streaming down my face when I saw this scene. Others watching were also motionless in a dark Theater. It was the shock of it all & the sorrow of losing Ramah in such a violent way after they were so excited to be wed. My heart 💔. I saw it again & I had the same reaction. Tears freely escaped my eyes & rolled down my cheeks. Even though I'd already seen this scene, it was still that impactful on me. I'm happy that we had an explanation this time around. I still say the writting for Season 4 is truly moving & I already have my hoodie "I'm Just Getting Started" my DVD of season 4 & so much more. I felt I needed the beautiful artwork of Jesus grabbing the hand...never going to let you go that I look at everyday. I needed that right now! My bestfriend's life was ended in a similar way except she was facing forward. I held her in my arms & she told me she was passing I reacted as Thomas did. She was 17. So this scene was a difficult one for me to say the least. I miss her everyday. She was like my sister & now she's my angel in heaven. Amen 🙏 🕊🕯💜🛐

Murder is a horrible sin and judgment is necessary. Nowhere in scripture does the Lord raise a murder victim. He cures diseases, illnesses, raises some who died from them. Guessing the whole thing with Rhama and Thomas in many of the episodes is to illustrate the differences, and especially just how wrong murder truly is. No doubt there will be more to see as Thomas witnesses the Lord raise Lazarus. Why him and not Rhama.

Note how no one was bothered by the fictional aspect of Rema and Thomas love story and engagement but we are ruffled by the death, which is also fictional. Why? Because it highlights these tensions that we dislike to face as a Believers but these moments are parts of life. This is why we have gotten so far from lament instead of allowing that to push us towards God. This was beautifully done ❤️

I am grateful for everything that The Chosen team produce and the fact that it is all free, is amazing. However, for me watching this episode, I personally do not believe that Jesus would have been more concerned with winning an argument with the Pharisees than the welfare of the people around him. That demonstrates pride, that is not my God. I understand how this can be used for the future script in relation to 'Doubting Thomas' but I feel that the storyline has been focused on achieving the desired development of Thomas' character over the Truth of Jesus' character. Yes He allows suffering to endure as it is all part of a greater plan He only knows but he also protects.

Plus:He wasn't worried in winning an argument, he was preaching to the pharisses, something he did all the time. Have you read the bible? It's always present in his ministery. To call what Jesus did with the pharisses winning an argument is the same as saying the sky is blue when it's dark.

I said winning an argument because the Pharasees were arguing with him. The crowds were moving, everyone was shouting. I just do not think that that would have been ignored by the character of Jesus because he would have been able to hear and even sense the commotion around him. I am not writing for an argument, I respect your view and I agree if he knew that Ramah would die, we would never know if he would have known this

It was the most heartbreaking pain a mother could experience. We trusted God through it and I thought of Mary quite a lot, knowing what she faced. I had a period of confusion after that, not understanding why didn't God answer our prayers and heal him. I have since come to realize that trusting God means even when the outcome isn't what I'd hoped for and I trust that God has a bigger plan. So many people suffer, even children and babies.

The surprising moment for me was at a counselling session at the Divine Mercy Retreat, the counsellor had a vision about me watching The Chosen, and the Holy Spirit told her to tell me, that The Chose series will strengthen by walk with Jesus and that I need to learn to be still (Exodus 14:14:) I met her (the counsellor) for first time, but everything she told me was spot on and days later I received the Gift of Grace from Our Lord Jesus Christ, today, with less effort I get more done and life has never been the same. Not a day goes by without me spending time with Jesus, walking with Him, talking to Him and being guided by the Holy Spirit. I am so thankful and grateful for Dallas Jenkins, Jonathan Roumie and the entire team for bring this to me and us and I continue to rewatch it and recommend it to everyone struggling to find peace no matter what religion you are from. Also in Acts, "How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him." Acts 10:38 The only time He couldn't do much was by His home town due to their unbelief. The Chosen had a great start, but in my opinion it's going off the rails.

He wouldn't do anything else of he had done that! But jokes aside, i think your commnet is exactly the kind of thing people get wrong about Jesus. Jesus wasn't here to heal bodies(althought he did some of that, he was here to heal souls) The most important thing for him was to believe in him and have changed in spirit and even if you die young but you did the best you could to live a christian life, a real christian life...that is worth more than to live 80 years and not have done anything Jesus wanted us to do.

In 1:06:15 Dallas said that "even in Gospel Jesus didn't heal or resurrect everyone". Well, there is no single situation in the Gospel where somebody who came to Jesus and asked for healing was rejected or told that "it's not your time yet". There are rather passages about healing everybody who were in place:
"A large crowd followed him, and he healed all who were ill" Matthew 12, 15
"and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick" Matthew 8, 16
    and few passages more.
This is a very delicate issue. I believe that Jesus wants all of us to be healed on body and soul. The key factor may be the time indeed. Look at the Gospel version of this episode's healing scene:
"After saying this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. “Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing."
The man was asked to "go" to the pool. So it took some time to receive healing. It wasn't immediate.
How long does it take to go to our pool after meeting Jesus?
However almost all other miracles of healing in Gospel were immediate.
Hoły Spirit I ask you to give us deeper understanding in such difficult and delicate issues.
    Glory to God.

My husband became ill about 1997, and from that year till about 2003 he just kept getting progressively more and more sick. I prayed a lot. I just kept feeling like I should just let the Lord handle everything. My husband dropped to the floor of heart failure from all his physical problems May 28, 2006. He was in the ICU till June 1, 2006. He was brain dead during that period. my husband was a believer. God did not heal him in this world. I still can’t wrap my head around it all and I had to carry on and raise our two daughters without my husband’s help. I didn’t do a perfect job and I’m still not completely healed from all that agony… But I still believe Jesus and that ultimately he will be completely victorious every tear I’ve ever shed. I normally stay silent on whether I agree or disagree with some of the things that you do in the Chosen and I can see by the comments that many stand with you on what you chose to portray in episode 3 but I have to admit that I was pretty disappointed. Actually, heartbroken for the disciples and especially Thomas but I was very troubled by this show and was surprised to find that I hadn't gotten over it and I found myself the next morning actually feeling angry. Why? Because in my own opinion this was not done well. I have always been so proud of the show, but I found I was not in this one particular show. You said that this scene had always been coming but I feel it wasn't thought through well and could have been done MUCH BETTER or differently.
Jesus goes and seems to just out of the blue decide to heal a blind man which in the end causes so much strife that even Jesus is arguing with the Pharisee's right in front of all the people. The people are wanting to see more miracles and instead they see strife, contention and a woman dying who was a follower of Jesus. That would not make me want to follow Him. How can you not see that this came across as if Jesus was the cause of all this contention in the first place? Even He got very heated in the conversation right in front of the people. The man hadn't asked to be healed so Jesus wasn't fighting for the man's right to be healed. I am not saying the man didn't deserve healing. Of course not, but I feel it went too far. After many had seen this wonderful miracle, they also witnessed the loss of a terrific and loving character and then although I heard Dallas's reason for the statement 'it isn't her time', as if somehow Rhema was less important than the man born blind. Jesus was right there. God in the flesh who had already healed countless people stood there and watched her die. He knew something was wrong before anyone even told Him and yes, I know that bad things happen to good people but this scene was not really in the Bible and although I do realize that you take liberties which I have enjoyed when it comes to sharing the lives of the Apostles and so forth you chose to give us the character of Rhema and then you decided to let her go in front of the eyes of those who'd just watched a wonderful miracle take place knowing full well that Jesus was there and had been involved in all the strife. Where did the witnesses see God in this?
I do love the Chosen series. I've purchased almost all of them for myself and several family members. I sow into it every single month because I love to see the humanity of Jesus and the disciples, but I don't see the necessity of what you chose to do in this one show. I can only pray that you remove the 'Jesus heals and then lets people be murdered in front of His eyes' out of upcoming scripts. Just maybe some of the decisions or choices you made or laid out long ago aren't necessarily going to work with what you are building now. You just had John the Baptist killed which is biblical, but Rhema was a character that was always there and not distant like John. This is a character that will affect Mary, Thomas and others for quite some time. It was unnecessary.
As I already mentioned you take a lot of liberties and people grace you on that because we do not have enough information and we love to imagine what their lives might have been like. You have truly given us a wonderful window or look into what might have been for the disciples, their families etc... but whether you see it this way or not you are teaching thousands of people the Bible and so when you take such liberties there are people that will believe this really happened. IT DID NOT! I just can't see why this was even necessary. I agree that there is a lot of suffering in the world. I won't even go into the things in my own family, household etc... but seeing Jesus just stand there for me was impactful in the wrong way. I've known the Lord for 30 years now. I can only imagine how it felt for a new believer or someone who was not yet saved.

I know people die and I know that not all prayers appear answered as we would like. I am saying I don't feel the way the scene played out was good for new believers or young believers. Firstly, it isn't a biblical scene. It was added using liberties that the show takes to share the stories of the disciples. To me it came across as if Jesus caused the strife in the first place. So, did Jesus heal a man and then because of all the strife and an openly heated conversation cause the death of Rhema? I'm concerned about how this scene came across to those the show is trying to speak to. I really don't think Dallas has an issue with people sharing their thoughts or even asking questions otherwise he wouldn't take some live before the show.

What results we hope our faith will bring and what parts give us knowledge and understanding even of unfairness, illness, lonliness, betrayal, evil, death and loss. In reviewing my life at times I see what seemed very bad as a ray of light in building a testimony of eternal truth. I am, not my body alone even on earth. Though the movie is fiction and physical companionship is lost, the help this woman could give in spirit could be important. To carry on with personal sorrow does not necessarily make one stronger. It has broken many hearts. Thus the great 'ray of light' I cannot deny that Christ brings resurrection and eternal life with Him.

Unfortunately it seems The Chosen has train wrecked, thriving off fictional tragedies that make the characters (and the audience) mad at Jesus and suck the life out of the biblical events. It started in Season 3 with the fictional miscarriage casting a shadow of bitterness over the feeding of the 5,000, which should have been a joyous display of Christ’s provision. This season is even worse-Jesus standing there watching her die (fiction!) and then raising Lazarus (actual history) is a horrible story choice. What happened to bringing the Bible to life? The show has abandoned its premise of showing us Jesus through the eyes of those who knew Him; this is not how the disciples saw Jesus.

“And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.”(Matthew 9:35)
There was no record that Jesus didn't heal anyone is his path apart from the occasions of unbelief which could block the healing.

Think long and hard about the message you just sent: That one minute Jesus is healing the sight of a blind man and the next He is watching one of His closest friends bleed out after being run through by a sword and He says there's nothing He can do about it...
Not funny or even remotely appropriate. Not only was this callous and unnecessary, but it was cold blooded and done purely for shock value. There is nothing you can say scripturally - to me at least - not least of all because this isn't even in scripture, but because you had a choice.

When watching the episode, I was a bit confused with the beginning when David and Bathsheba seemed to have no idea why God allowed their baby to die. Did I miss something? I seemed to recall that they did know, and when I went to scripture it seems that they did (2 Sam 12:13-16 NASB): "Then David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.” And Nathan said to David, “The Lord also has taken away your sin; you shall not die. However, because by this deed you have given occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme, the child also that is born to you shall surely die.” So Nathan went to his house. Then the Lord struck the child that Uriah’s widow bore to David, so that he was very sick.

It's not even a plausible scenario based on who he is. The Pharisees tried to get Jesus to start such unrest so they could accuse him and he wouldn't. In this episode him doing this resulted in his follower's accidental death and shows a reckless nature rather than the shepherd of the sheep. None of Jesus's disciples were lost except Judas.

I agree.... this doesn't look right....Jesus was basically saying in that moment I don't feel like it. That's why this scene needed to be different. Like Simon rushed Jesus away. So that he wasn't there when it happened. Not Jesus refusing to save her. I get she's a new character. But it's different than it was with Simon. Since Jesus wasn't there. I understand bad things happen. And it's the will of God and all that. But if Jesus saved her that would be his will. So him healing and resurrecting strangers but not one of his own right in front of him. Why, to teach them some lesson on loss. I don't buy it.

Exactly. It elaborates on scripture in a way which is not correct. He healed all who were sick and came to Him with faith to be healed. The scene also portrays Jesus as reckless and needlessly antagonistic. He sometimes had harsh words for the Pharisees, but he never actively sought animosity or controversy merely for the sake of it (that is a human failing), let alone one that causes the death of his follower.
