Awesome video, love the old Republic. It's crazy to think that this took place thousands of years before the original trilogy and the Leviathan's laser canons(20) were causing that much damage. Some of those buildings on Taris were multiple kilometers tall.
Thank you! Yeah for sure, the stats I was reading said that it was comparable to a modern imperial star destroyer, and it was thousands of years older! Such destructive power!!
I've always wondered if the pincer design of this ship was part of it's interdiction field, since it didn't have the bulbous domes of later interdictors.
That could be! I think that the gravity generators were on the top of the ship near the bridge, but it doesn't say where the projectors were located, so that is a distinct possibility!
I would guess that they used the "Aurek" fighter, which kind of looked like an early A-wing model. I did an episode on it if you search "aurek Hyperspace Database"
The design of the ship is growing on me. The use of negative space just makes one wonder what could have been put there. Also kind of foreshadowed the dovin basals that came afterwards. Great video 👌🏻
It does look super cool! Yeah it does make one wonder what that space was for, if not just a cool design. It does kind of foreshadow the dovin basals, nice catch! Thank you very much!
They do look similar! As far as I am aware there is no connection, but it could be that the ship designers of the Miy"til took some influence from that body design. Probably not so much, as the Hapans really prided themselves on having their own style, but anything is possible ya know?
With its curved design, maybe looks in orbit above a threatened world like the head of a terrible bird.. but it did make me think of Grievous's Invisible Hand with curved prow.. and the First Order destroyers had an enclosed flight section sandwiched between the upper/lower hulls.. so yeah the design here has carried forward over millennia 😊

I really want us to get a old Republic star wars movie soon to show us war between Jedi and the sith that will be so cool
I agree, that would be awesome! Or a TV show like the clone wars, but set in the Old Republic. I'd totally watch that!
Very Nice
Thank you, it is a super cool design!
What kind of fighters did the Old Republic use when they used the Leviathans?

Awesome 💯🖖 You can't beat the Original Expanded Universe.
Gotta love the EU, that's the Star Wars I grew up with!

Another great video!
Thank you very much for following up the request! 😀
Thank you! Glad to do it!
Great vid Jonesey! Fascinating info.
Thank you! This ship was super fun to research!
1:07 those Sith fighters look a bit like the later Miy'til fighters u covered? (Hapes cluster)

Not to mention the CIS Malevolence. You can definately see the influence of this ship's design over the last few thousand years.
Nice comparisons! I definitely see resemblances in those ships!
great ship
Totally!
The largest clothes peg ever constructed. :P
Haha, for real!
it would be a shame not to reuse both this cruiser and the sith fighter models in canon: great designs imao
Totally agree. They look super legit!!
THE CLAAAAW 🦀
Lol! Ooooooooo, THE CLAW!!!!! Gotta love Toy Story!
