By trying to destroy the biggest threat to the Republic, they only made an immortal enemy that would always come back, and eventually destroy it completely (in Palpatine and the Clone Wars).
The only flaw in the lore is the true sith empire not attacking right after the triumvirate nearly wiped out the Jedi and the republic. It was the golden opportunity to take them out in a single year.

This is the main reason that I still love the Expanded Universe because it was so rich with history and backstory, thanks to the writers who stayed true to George Lucas and his vision, like you and your Channel. Keep up the great work, and May The Force Be With You Always.
We need a complete timeline of the Senate.
Agree, I'd like to learn more about papa palpintin
@@MajorBaker-vz9go The channel actually did one a while ago
@@marcusblackwell2372 thanks, I'll make sure to watch it
When a youtuber makes a two and half hour documentary on galatic history and it ends up being 25,000 times better than the sequel movies
Basically the Republic history in a nutshell:
- Expand and prosper
- get into a massive conflict
- is on the verge of collapse
- jedi barely save them from their doom
- recover or get into another conflict
- Repeat
This is why I love Legends content so much.
Man Disney is the worst thing to happen to Star Wars we will probably never get good movies that go into this lore
Filoni doesn't care about continuity consistency character progression development depth stakes philosophy world building creativity inspiration
2:33:33 hours of republic lore, nice touch.
Bro really thought he could sneak in pictures of the "Legend of Galaxtic Heroes" anime and thought no one would notice.
I've honestly slowly but surely become a Star Wars expert with all your videos I've been binge watching
Finally the algorith does something right, how did it know i needed an extensive history of SW at 1:30 am while I cant sleep.
This channel consistently makes top tier Star Wars content, keep up the amazing work!
Thanks for the shoutout to the LS Sith! Honestly, the expansion or at times reexpansion of the Sith and their code during the TOR period to include more honorable, pragmatic, and at times light leaning Sith was my favorite part of the MMO. Very excited to see how the MMO ends, or if they'll keep it open ended in such a way that acknowledges player choice
Pretty hilarious to say a civilization lasted 25 thousand years when they are currently in a state of perpetual war. Makes the whole idea that civilizations that possess interstellar travel but yet still fight over local resources even sillier. I do love Star Wars but they have no clue or no respect for the size of a galaxy.
The current state of the galaxy is a result of the collapse of the Republic, largely political
This is the history lesson of all time, something I would like to take an exam on and study for
I loved this series when it came. I always did like learning history. Even learning history from fictional worlds and factions. Plus I always loved learning how the Republic came to be. No matter how corrupt it can be. Like I've always told people, if I fought for the Republic during the Clone Wars, I would still fight for it. But after Order 66, I would resign. Because in the end, neither the Republic nor Separatists won.
Coming across this in my notifications, sure was a pleasant surprise. I love listening to your videos. Especially when I'm painting my minis and playing video games. I remember subscribing in late 2019, I'm glad I've been around to see this channel improve in quality. I love your longer videos, and this will hold me over for a while as I won't be able to listen to the whole thing at once. Keep up the great work, and may the force be with you
Old Wars is best Wars.
OT only trilogy
something about the lore of fantasy/scifi puts me to sleep. i’ve been dreaming that someone would make the essential star wars chronology an audiobook. this is even better.
@Geetsly's You should continue to the next chapter in this series. you should delve into the prequel era and so on explain the republic's fall and the empires rise, idk i think that would be an interesting video IMO. Just a completion of the star wars universe in this series, i think you did a wonderful job in compiling all the videos together keep up the great work im a loyal viewer and fan. May the force be with you, always...
When I read the video length as 23:33 : Okay, this is gonna be good
When I read the video length as 2:33:33 : OKAY THIS IS GONNA BE GOOD
As a relatively new Star Wars fan, thanks for this channel and your content. This great deep lore, politics and world building is why I love Lucas era Star Wars more than disney star wars. I pretty much stick with that and EU books now. So awesome. Can't believe some people actually bemoaned the prequels for politics and world building when all they lacked was good writing.
Prequels had jar jar, stfu
Imagine the amount of stuff from legends this guy had to go through to make this video. This is amazing.
I know right! It's basically the reason i'm loathe to critique all of it's inaccuracies as it probably took dozens or more hours to compile.
Yes! Yes! Yes! This is the kind of content I LOVE! I absolutely love long form content and while I know not allot of people will be able to sit through the whole thing, you have my accolades for still commencing with this undertaking. Thank You So Much, for taking the time to make this even if you know you won't get many views due to its longer nature. Out of all the channels that survived my subscription purge, I'm most pleased about keeping my sub to this one; I'll admit I don't often tune into the Disney Canon content but Legends Lore I'll immediately drop anything for and tune in.
Love it has over a million
@@1984isnotamanual Yes and? Comparatively speaking that's like an Nth of the world populace and even America for that fact. There's 356 Million people in America. Also I watch MauLer and many people have commented directly on his videos that it's too long and his arguement is invalid because his critique is longer than the movie itself.

So been looking forward to this compilation video since you started this history series. No I didn’t know this video was coming, but still look forward to more ancient Star Wars history videos you put out.
(Yes, I have been taking notes on my computer while watching, just like I was back in a college history class. I am that nerd. Lol)
Lol can you make a link for those of us who can’t watch the whole video (would love to, but don’t have enough time 😢)
Hells yes you dropped a movie right as the boredom started to set in 👍👍
This video helped me a lot. I have notoriously small knowledge about the pre-clone wars Republic. Until now. Thank you.

@Geetslys. silly question how do I send a direct message hahahaha I’m so not internet savy but definitely trying
That was absolutely fantastic! Thank Geetsly‘s for never dropping one bit in quality
I accidentally stumbled across this video and I'm extremely glad I did! So informational, and you can tell you have a great passion for the series.

17:45 This is why I was so disappointed in Luke when he made Grogu choose between his "heart" and his destiny. Because after his father's sacrifice and incredible feat of overcoming the dark side by choosing "heart", Luke, over the former. I thought Luke and the Jedi order would see the value of not being so rigid but no they still hold on to rigid ideals to this day apparently.
You're talking about the disney fan-fic right?
@@vexile1239 Yup.
Definitely a win! I love the detail. Please keep making videos like this. I had to watch this one over a few days but I still enjoyed every bit. Another video like this, and as long, on everything post the new republic would be cool
Thank you so much for this priceless historical data! May the Force be with you!
Did the Star Wars channel really mispronounce Kuat as Kuwait?
I saw the length of this video and thought, “damn, this is a long a$$ video… I have to watch this because that must mean he’s not leaving much out!!”
Really appreciate the time and effort you put into this. 👊🏾🍻
I remember being shocked when I learned of the genocide committed on the Sith by the Republic, and how it then made sense why all the Sith we see are fueled by hatred and fear and other negative emotions.
It was the golden opportunity to take them out in a single year.
this is the only stuff I watch related to star wars at this point ive moved on to 40k lol
I love you for this, please keep doing what you're doing, I look forward to it all the time.
Excellent . I've seen quite a few SW history videos and none have delved into the expansion periods. They usually just name the expansion areas and Times .
Love this
Best Star Wars lore video ever
Every bit of this is truly canon
I know more about Star Wars history than actual world history.
12:03 Don't think it, don't say it...
I enjoy the cacophonous rattling of all those planet names!
Man, you have my undying love and respect for this one.
Another well researched and well produced video, keep up the good work.
It makes me weep that Disney just tossed all of the south window in order to establish their own stuff and has done such a bad job at it.
Just nearly a thousand years, but the people of the Galaxy forgotten how many times the Jedi saved them all from Sith subjugation and other tyrannies.
To be far they've also caused many problems for the Galactic Republic throughout it's history too.

Love your channel definitely in my top five favorite Star wars UA-cam channels. Your voice kicks ass and your content is brilliant.

Disney will ruin it
@@alsimmonshellspawn6021Yup.
The Pious Dia Crusades sound very familiar, love the 40k Art by the way. They even had a "Heresy" that screwed them over 😂😂
I’ll never understand how one position in government allowed the rise of a theocracy in such a big galactic empire. Also is all of this history written outside of LucasArts? Because it’s so much better than anything written by Disney or what I know George Lucas has written.
No, this was all canon until George sold the franchise in 2012 and everything was put into trash.
Yea this is Georges story read a book or a Wikipedia page sometime.

"the Leviathans only bought the dark jedi a few DECADES" 😭😭😭
I wonder if some parts of the Galactic Republic's wars are inspired by the Thirty Years War?
Definitely A LOT of inspiration from real historical events, you can detect hints of the Crusades, the American Civil War etc....
I just listened to some star wars game soundtrack with similar video length and so I first thought this was another star wars ambience video when I saw the thumbnail and the length. Then I realized it was from Geetlys and was immediately stunned...
Will leave a like. Have seen all there is to this flawed yet ultimately influential and somewhat necessary long government of a grand galaxy.
Flawed, absolutely. Still better than the Empire and actually did some decent good for a decent amount of people in the galaxy, also yes.
@@zexalbrony4799 I mean to be fair the Sith & Galactic Empires did a far share of good too but yes the Galactic Republic was & is definitely the better ruler of the Galaxy.
Who would win? A Government that lasted 25,000 years or one Senate Boi.
