Great w/o routine, Matt, and as a (retired) personal trainer, here's a few tips on your incline DB press (I always referred to it as a static contraction press as opposed to alternating press, because you really want to keep the contraction strong on the static arm): for shoulder health, rotate your hands about 45 degrees to keep your elbows tighter to your body, and to get a little more out of it, push the thumb side of your hand up at the top of the movement to get the inner end of the DB higher than the outer end. And stay fucking funny!!!
Don't forget deep stretch at the bottom, another reason why alternative presses are a bit underrated. And yes, elbows tighter to the body can relieve a bit of the shoulder, but if you don't have shoulder problems, there's not much reason to tug the elbows, it's a compound exercise so you engage chest, shoulders and triceps anyway and when he only has one shoulder day it's nice to hit shoulders a bit through chest press too, so he hits shoulders twice per week.

Recently retired after over 42 years in the gym business (manager, director of PT, personal trainer and Spinning and BodySculpt instructor) , and I think my shoulder issues are due to behind the neck pull downs, military presses, and tricep extensions, as well as not keeping my elbows in on bench press. I'm 70 now, built a pretty complete home gym (closest gym is 75 miles away) and still do 3 on, 1 off, and still love it!

Working out is a lot easier than people think. It's all about your mindset. Most people give up the gym because they're impatient. It takes time to get into shape.
Overall? I'm not mad at all- great approach for a regular dude looking to stay in shape, not something to push any boundaries whatsoever, but ain't that what's fitness is for? looking good, feeling good and playing good? DANG, I feel like the utmost cliche after that.

Pretty good advice Matt. My personal trainer is my lifeline I swear. I could sleep in but not when I know she is expecting me to be there at the gym, I gotta go. I gotta get up. Whatever you have to do to make it happen, do it. I used to think I had to do it all alone, if you need to hire a trainer, just do it. Do it for you, find a way, make it happen. It is so so so worth it. Physical health yes, but also mental health. Get it done. every day.

Pull ups or pulldowns hits both back and biceps, deadlifts hits both back and legs etc. So you can easily pick exercises that hits these mucles at the same time: Deadlift x 2 Pull-ups x 2 Leg curls or extensions x 2 BB row or One arm DB row x 2 Calf raises x 1 dropset Bicep curl x 1 dropset Just an example. It's EASY. His program is fine. Austin most likely suffers from what most of us suffer from, we hate leg day, so we add them on other days. I do legs twice, but on days I also do other body parts. Austin could easily do that too.
I saw Matt Rife perform at the Atlanta Comedy Theater a few years ago, and he was ridiculously funny. Talked with him afterwards, and he was a super friendly, down-to-earth guy. Glad to see him climbing the ladder of success and blowing up now.

Actually good exercises here, no BS like the Hollywood actors they throw in here usually or their supposedly professional trainers. Don't expect men's health to give enough time in the segment to actually go over his entire routine, but the movements he showed were very solid and I'm sure his real routine is fleshed out.

This is weird, often times these videos are filled with some actor and/or his personal trainer with gimmicky unnecessary exercises and suddenly a comedian pops up and gives perhaps the most sound advices yet. I have no idea who Matt Rife is, but he knows his fitness/strength training/bodybuilding which cannot be said of most featuring on Men's Health, they know their PEDs though, I am looking at you guys Hemsworth, Kumil and Michael B. Jordan, freaking cheaters.
Mike is alright and funny, but he doesn't hold the holy grail to fitness. There is no one recipy fits all, cause there's different needs, time at hand, days you can go to the gym, equipment at the gym, physical boundaries of your body etc. What works for you, is what works for you.
