People hate on him, not for his personality, but for his training philosophy "Yoke training". Most people see it as a suboptimal way to gain strength and size. Honestly, I agree. I don't hate Alex though, he's just preaching what he believes. We may not agree but he sticks to his ideals and I respect that above all things.

do the novice training, nothing there about yoke training. and anyways yoke training and neck are very relevant to how you look, there is no reasons to ignore that body part. bodbuilding is about looking good and strong, and your yoke is more important than guns.

This video is spot on. Even as a novice who's only been lifting for a few months I went into the grocery store with a tank top and was surprised when I had the largest delts out of everyone in the store. In the gym I'm still one of the smallest people, but it's completely different when I'm outside of the gym. As lifters we get too caught up in long term goals of achieving physiques that we obsess over the end long term goal and forget the day to day victories and gains we make in our fitness journeys that bring us closer to big goals.

Every time I see Alex old videos I realize how valuable his mindset progression can be for young men, I’m thankful that he didn’t delete these videos. Yes Alex got better, his arms that longtime weak point have grown but the moral of the story is that you need to be happy now, if you’re not happy now 18 inch arms won’t change that, it’s why steroids don’t fulfill a lifter. Work hard and love the work.

I do 100lb chin-ups for a few reps. I have great back development and biceps, but there are times when I compare myself to stronger people and feel like I'm small. Then I realise that most people struggle to do a few chin-ups, and people admire me when I'm doing chin-ups with over half of my bodyweight attached to my waist for reps. I have pretty bad body dysmorphia and need to take stock and be proud of my progress, and continue to get stronger in the process.

I learn everyday to appreciate the small improvements here and there. Sometimes I fail to achieve something, but sometimes I thrive, and that's the beauty of it. To learn that this is part of the process, such as it is part of so many things in life. But so often we forget that this is what really matters, because we always compare ourselves with other people. Thanks for the video, it's very necessary. I hope it reaches a lot of people

  • @guykr10

Very true! People compare themselves to the elite and forget to look at themselves from the eyes of the average person. Everyone does it, most of the time unintentionally, and when done in that manner it can be very detrimental to one's self image. I stopped comparing myself to people who are stronger than me because there is no point to it, it just make me feel like shit.
What I do instead is look at those people, admire the hard work they had to put in to get to their level, and try to learn from them, all while going after my own goals.
To anyone who is reading this, please, just focus on yourself and your goals. Don't let other people's opinions of you change you if you see no problem with who you are. make Changes because YOU want to change.

Thanks for these pep talks my dude. When I started out lifting, I was a bit discouraged in not seeing the results in looking like a "pro". And I'll be honest, I still have that issue and think I'm just naturally weak since I've been benching just one plate for months. You are right tho in that I REALLY need to stop comparing myself to others and stay focusing on ME! What I want for a better body and not try to do a sculpture of a stranger's.
