See? That's years and years of practice and doing the work. Like Alex said, it applies to anything in life :) He wasn't this good at the start, but look at him now. Absolutely one of the best in the UA-cam fitness space IMO.

Totally agree, been working out for nearly two years 3 days a week, always been a skinny guy and kept thinking i dont seem to be gaining at all, but ive noticed recently alot of my T shirts are starting to feel really tight around my shoulders and back, at 1st i thought i must be shrinking my cloths in the wash, but then a neighbour commented that im getting buff, thought she was just hitting on me and being nice or after something, i think the truth is we never see it ourselves, that's why some give up, but dont give up guys, those complements will come, listen and take them in
when i'm feeling small or unimpressive, i always remember my ideal body when i first started lifting - brad pitt fight club - cause i blew by that years ago, and would be out of mind happy if i had my physique today way back then. and the thing is, other people were impressed with my physique when i was still novice, barely intermediary. but as i got more advanced, the only people who got more impressed were other lifters. no one else really noticed the growth, or cared. for other people it was a lot of "yeah but you already looked good."
You are undoubtedly one of the rare fitness UA-camrs that actually has common sense and conveys honest and practical information. I see so many people in the gym who are doing these weird and wacky exercises and wouldn't even contemplate doing a deadlift, military press or pull up. If I could I would direct all of them to your channel to educate them on the benefits of straight out hard work with basic compound lifts.
Such an important message - well said, Alex. Currently I‘m 17 and put on about 7kg (~15,5lbs) LBM in about 6 months including quarantine and accepted that I should trust the progress instead of chasing the perfect training Programm every day or looking through my log to monitor every detail. I‘ve set big goals for myself when it comes to strength and size but I know that reaching big goals will take its time. The massage from this video should be heard by all lifters, especially beginners. Greetings from Bavaria
Might drop the ego and switch back to a novice program for a few months to milk it further. Haven't really reaped the rewards from Westside training like I hoped I would. Patience
@@AlexLeonidas Man I think it's the lack of calories. I just don't have a huge appetite and skipping meals comes so naturally to me. Also, any tips for tall people like me (6'5'')? Guys with a smaller hight but lift less, for some reason look noticably more jacked than me, is this a thing or am I somehow doing something wrong?
Family members are telling me im getting big, but I feel like im the same size! But looking back at a pic 2 years ago, I now know they weren't just saying it. Trust the process I learned, no need to take drugs and stress about it

focusing on strength is the best because you can actually see your strength increasing weekly or monthly basis, whereas its really hard to actually see your own muscles growing. Also by focusing on strength which is the ultimate progressive overload, you can't go wrong if you are progressing, and if you are progressing you know you are in the right path
I remember when I had a visit from a relative that I had not seen for 5+ years. When he saw me he had this WOW reaction and couldn't believe it! Funny thing is I didn't feel like much before that. After that moment I started realizing how much progress I've made. Top video!
Just came across this video. I didn't realize it was that old until you mention quarantine. I totally agree with what you said. I have been working out seriously for a few years and I thought I didn't gain much, but people that I haven't seen for a while would mention the difference.
New viewer here. This is so true, and in the world of social media, it's something many people (including myself) need to hear more often. Thanks, man!
Just the words I needed to listen, thanks man. Being a teenager and watching these Gymshark fake nattys that are my same age just deadlifting 600+ pounds, benching 300+, with capped delts and shredded year-round claiming to be naturals sometimes can make us delusional about the results we expect on our first 2-3 years of lifting. As you said, We need to be patient, the gains will come.
