happy to watch the slightly longer format becasue its so relaxed, a chat rather than a torrent of info. Absolutely drank this review in. What a lovely car that is not only aspirational, but in a way that I could definitely live with. I can’t see me affording this perfect package anytime soon. Definitely top of my list for dream cars now though. Thanks so much for bringing this to us Jonny.
Being an engine lover but nonetheless having picked up a gentian blue Taycan Cross Turismo 2 weeks ago, I can say that it really is a dream car. It is awesome to drive and even with all the "electric car scepticism" you can really feel, that it is a Porsche. I absolutely love it and hope, that you will be able to experience or even own one in near future :)
5:55 Such a simple but brilliant idea for composition of this scene but I can imagine this might have been one of the hardest location to find. These little details is what sets this channel apart.
I was watching you read off a scrap of paper and thought you had missed a trick with not using your merch notepad. I love my travel mug and will use it when I'm staying put too!
Since you started the comparisons with previous models, for my tuppence-worth, based on the window-lines, I think it makes the rear-3/4 view look like a 'longer' Mk 3 VW Scirocco...
Oof, I normally agree with your taste Jonny but that Model S estate at 7:10 is awful, it looks like a hearse! Great video as always though, I've been working in the EV industry for 7+ years now and you're still one of the best. Also if you're going to fake an EV noise surely go for Milenium Falcon or the Tron bike? Not the South Africa World Cup.
Side, rear quarters remind me of the VW Scirocco. Great car though. Loved the review @Jonny; always honest and no for-the-sake-of-it filler. I do agree with you about this over the RS6 @Jonny.
Another great thoughtful review Jonny. Drove a Sport Turismo last week as I try to get closer to my old E63 AMG estate after nearly 4 years in a Model S. The Taycan ST drives a treat but the lack of proper regen relegates it to a “learner EV” desihned for their existing ICE customers. The fake noise is deeply annoying as you have to turn it off every time and the trip planning for charging and charge management enroute is woefully basic. Ace handling, great performance and amazing interior. Audi looks better but lacks Avant option. Still good first attempt for a weekend car, not sure I’d tour Europe with it.
Point to note: The rapid charger swaps sides for RHD cars. Dumb. Means you can only use Tesla Superchargers (which are slowly opening up) in LHD cars. Daft. No one else does this except VAG. Do they imagine we still have kerbside “fuel pumps”….?!!
Taycan has the highest regen of any EV, but you do have to use the brake pedal. It's more efficient that way. The sound can be turned of and should only activate when using sport+ mode. If you buy the car you don't need to buy the electric sport sound option. I did Route planning on my smartphone when I used a Taycan last year or so but of course the car navigation system should be able to provide decent planning.
@@computercrack Yes brakes are for ICE drivers. Anyone with a decent EV is used to one pedal driving. Porsche needs that option. Unless you’re driving hard eg S+, moving to the brake is inefficient, it’s wasted movement, there’s nothing efficient about it. So it has poor regen for one pedal driving, it barely works at all. The inbuilt charge planning is hopeless. Again, not what I expected from Porsche. As I said, weekend toy not cross-Europe blaster.
@@ruaraidhmcdonald-walker9524you are wrong if you think everybody likes OPD. I don't. You know I want to relax my foot every now and then and don't brake like a maniac cause I need to lift my foot. I didn't find the route planning to be that bad but chose to be on the safe side with the smartphone since it was the first long range trip with such a car. Anyway have a nice day
@@computercrack We’re agreeing: It needs to have the option to have one pedal driving. Audi do that with steering wheel paddles, again shame though, most of the power is on the brake pedal. I expect a Porsche to have options for any driver to be happy, that’s what you’re paying for and, as you say, it’s just software, hence my complaint. Yes anyone can use ABRP on Carplay but should you have to? You have a good day too, nice to have a grown up conversation on here!
If Porsche wants to make the Taycan range even more complicated then I would want them to create a '2S' version that's RWD-only but quicker than the base model. As a Sport Turismo.

Finally a decent looking Taycan. And really how many are driving their Taycan in rough terrain..? (CrossTurismo) The front still need a facelift tho, headlights are really weird
I have to say the proportions dont look that great from the side. And when you look at it from the back the rear window is comically small. Other than that a best estate you can buy atm.
Sometimes I have to pinch myself when I see an all-electric, four-door, wagon/estate (and here comes the pinch) PORSCHE !?! And then I have to admit I love it. Can't wait to see what they deliver as a 2 or 2+2 in this power train.

Q. "Charging port opens with a swipe of the finger" - does it also open when you jetwash in the same location, and if so do you really want to be pointing a high power jet of water in the direction of the charge socket? I ask this as Bjorn Nyland has recently reviewed the BMW iX and highlighted that the "kick to open" tailgate gets triggered by a jetwash - he washed the inside of the tailgate.

I expect the leasing deals on these will be very good, since depreciation is less than usual on both EVs and Porsches. If you want to deal with homelessness, vote better. There's plenty of tax on a £100k car for a government to spend.

Of course! Like really soon! 🤩
Anybody else see the Allegro in the roofline of the 944?
This is the one that I’d have. I’ll take it in signal green or the Granny Smith pearlescent green please. It such a desirable all round package.
Just watched this back Great review that confirmed my decision to swap from the standard to ST was the right call Mine finally arrived and it’s every bit as good as Johnny says
Tim, many thanks for the comment. Jonny takes his work seriously and it is always fantastic to receive feedback from real buyers.
Love the late brake show, love JS, love Porsche but £104k when people can't afford to heat their homes. Who can afford £104k .... Anyone?
I expect the leasing deals on these will be very good, since depreciation is less than usual on both EVs and Porsches. If you want to deal with homelessness, vote better. There's plenty of tax on a £100k car for a government to spend.
26:58 Actually the Tesla super charger network is beginning open to other EVs in certain EU markets now, so it might not be the USP it once was going forward
Fine for LHD cars too as front right CCS similar to rear left for Tesla! Won’t work in the UK though as the CCS moves to the other side. 🙄
Great review. That car looks wonderful compared to the sedan version.
Love that. Carbon trim. Like a tracksuit. 👌
Any more electric estate cars on the way? Looking to replace my ‘daily duty’ Focus Active estate. Nothing electric has the space of a decent estate.
