Underrated creator. Commenting here before 1M subs.
Thanks for the encouragement! You're invited to the million sub party. =)
I like this review. The video editing is pretty good and the pace is easy to follow. Nice job!
Thanks for watching and your kind words!
Just ordered one refurbished direct from ecoflow on ebay. $114.75 with a warranty. I can't complain about that price. Thanks for covering that it van be charged thru that port. I've got a panel I can use with it already then
Nice unit. I think the River 2 Pro will meet what I’m looking for
Just got mine today! I like it, of course! I have the Pro & extra battery already, but I like collecting solar generators/power boxes!
I hope you enjoy it! It's definitely much more portable than the pro.
Any issues? Have you tried charging via USB c?
Fantastic review, very valuable, lot of information provided. Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Good review. I don't see why you'd really need stackable charging anyway. If you're plugged into AC 100% of the charging capacity should be coming from that. It wouldn't make sense for them to derate the AC charging just so could also charge from USB too for some reason
Great video, but there is a lot of misinformation on YT about Xboost. It does lower the voltage, but it does not increase the current. The total output power remains exactly the same, at ~300W. You can run a 600W heater but it will only output 300 W of heat. You should NEVER use Xboost with anything with a motor, especially a refrigerator, as the low voltage will damage the compressor. Best to leave this “feature” off.
Thanks for watching! How can the voltage get lowered and the current not increase yet the wattage stay the same? Power = Volts X Amps. I agree with you that I wouldn't recommend the voltage lowering options on these portable units unless you are only using them for resistive loads.
There’s something I can’t quite get my head around. A kWH costs around $0.25. This stores about a quarter of that.
Hi Reese, great job with the video and new channel. My exisiting power station runs silently up to 150w ac output in a 20C / 68F ambient temperature. It also charges silently up to 160 watts. It is a similar size to the new River 2 Max. With this ecoflow River 2 at low AC loads are the fans always running? I belelive one of the recent firmware updates from Ecoflow was to optimise fan control. Maybe we could have noise tests in the future videos via a DB meter type app. Maybe if we end up with a power station group test in a few months! Thanks for any advice you can offer.
Thank you! I appreciate it. What do you consider a low AC load? I've run a 7W load on the AC inverter and the fan does not come on. Thanks for the note about showing dB noise tests. I haven't shown or talked about them because most people don't know how to evaluate dB levels and that noise is a fairly subjective thing. I've instead tried to give my personal opinion on how "loud" I sense the fan is since I've been able to test many power stations. So totally subjective but I also hope helpful. =) That said, I can do a dB test if you'd like for a particular unit.
@@solarguy Thanks the info regrading 7w it is helpful. I guess I consider any load under 10% of the invertor rated output to be low. Thanks
I just got one yesterday & it had a cover on the DC output hole.
I guess they decided to add one in the newest versions. Thanks for updating us.
Did you actually test to see if the you could stack the USB-C input and solar input to charge? I know some other brands allow that type of stacking, but not AC and USB-C stacking. This is one of the best and to the point reviews I've seen on a PPS and I've seen tons of different portable power station reviews. How do you only have 25 subscribers?
How did he get a free unit with just 25 subs? 😅
Yes, I tested the DC input and USB-C input and you can't stack them.
Thank you for your kind words and for watching! I have other social media accounts and this is a new channel that I wanted to start so I can focus on solar power related things (including some battery reviews).
Thanks 🌷 Q: bought a mini Travel tea kettle, 300 watt.. do you think it handle 300 watt x 5+ minutes? Great review😎
Yes, 300W for 5 minutes would be fine!
Hi, I use a Pro logic 100 watt solar charger with the cigarette lighter plug on the end, can I plug my Solar charger into the cigarette socket on the front of the unit and charge the unit that way?
Sorry for the delayed response! The 12v cigarette outlet is on the front is only for output. The charging ports are on the back.
I have one of these and wonder if you can daisy chain two or more to double the watage/output like the ecoflow larger units.
Do you mean to try to get 240V AC?
@@solarguy No, Hooking up 2 units paralel to double the Watt Output.
What I have done for extra power capacity. I use a 40,000 mAh portable power bank using the USB-C port. The power bank will show input and power station showing output at same time while using AC output.
Can you put an extension cord into the AC outlets?
Yes, that's no problem.
So how hard is it to clean/replace the fan? That's usually the first thing that dies.
I've not had to do that but it looks like you can get access to the fan by taking off the four screws on top.
Do you know if I can plug a UPS with voltage conditioning into the EcoFlow River 2?
I don't see why you couldn't. It would be similar to plugging it into the wall AC, unless I'm misunderstanding something.
@solarguy if you could only buy one, Ecoflow River 2 or Bluetti EB3A?
I have both. I’d probably say whichever is cheaper. The EB3A has a wireless charging pad on top and you don’t need to give them an email to use the APP with bluettoth. But both are good small portable power stations.
Can I just a 200 watt solar panel and it will restrict charing to 100 watts or must I use a 100 watt or less solar panel to charge this?
The main issue is voltage. As long as the panel is under the max voltage input on the river2 then you should be fine.
Do you have to use the 110W solar panel kit with this one or can you use other 100W panels, without having to solder and come up with a DIY solution? I'm not digging that the actual panels for this thing is more expensive than the EcoFlow River 2 unit itself.
No, you can use pretty much any 100W panel that's out there. I've used many different versions of panels with the River 2.
@@solarguy Yeah I figured it out shortly after posting my comment. Thanks for answering tho, much appreciated :)
Do you know how it compares with the Bluetti EB3A?
I have both of them. Are there particular aspects you are interested in?
What is the name of the cable to connect ecoflow river 2 to a ecoflow 110w solar panel
Is it xt60 or xt60i
Sorry for missing your question at first. Either one of those cables will work. There is a small connector on the xt60i which makes it a little different than xt60 but for the river 2 and 110w panel, I don't think it would make any appreciable difference. They have the same plastic connector shape and are interchangable.
Hi thanks, if you are charging a phone, a laptop and a modem how long will the battery last ?
Answering a question like that is always hard because it has to do with the details. The river 2 has 256Wh of storage, how much does your phone, computer and modem (does that have a battery?) need? I would say the river 2 could easily recharge those things from 0-100% and still have some storage left.
@@solarguy Thanks, that sounds great!
Do you think this battery will power a JBL 110 for at least 4 hours before the speaker uses its own battery?
I'm sorry but I don't know the power draw on that speaker. I'm guessing that it might be able to last that long but really, you'd need to know the power consumption to know for sure.
Someone did a review and said with the boost it can do 1600.watts and you say it can do 600watts .... someone is streching the truth ???
The River 2 definitely can not do 1600W of AC output. It is normally 300W with 120V of AC. You can use the Xboost feature for resistive loads up to 600W (but that's the max).
Had a question I have the R -2 good unit .. I know with the eco boost it wil do 600 watts max .. that’s fine … could I plug a 12volt inverter that does 800 watts .. In the 12 volt socket with out the eco boost .. to use a circular saw not continuous just on off
I don’t think a circular saw would work in that scenario. I imagine that if the inverter could power it that it couldn’t produce the start up amperage (which is much higher than the running amperage). The eco boost mode on the R2 is for the AC output.
Since I have both the river and the river 2 can I use a 120 watt solar panel for both or do I have to have to get 2 separate panels ...
FWIW, I just FedExed mine back to Eco Flow today. Mine wouldn't charge on usb-c and wouldn't show output wattage on AC.
I opted for replacement rather than refund. Be aware that according to the eco flow, you only have 30 days for refund or replacement. I'm hoping my issue was a fluke.
How is your new one performing?
@@solarguy I still haven't received a replacement despite the returned one being back to them last Friday. It's suppose to be here tomorrow tho and will advise.
Tks. fr sharing. I just got mine a week ago. I will try all the functions, including charging it from my car cigarette lighter.
@@allaboutroofing2any luck?

Is it strong enough to power a belt sander
It depends on how much power the sander uses. If it's a large one with a large motor, the river 2 might have a hard time.
The handle location is a little wonky. Pretty bold of you to just lay it on the grass on its face like that.
It's no problem. The grass is soft. I guess if the handle has to be on the side or the top, I'd prefer it on the side.
I think the handle is designed for a purpose so that u cannot put the unit back on the wall with no space in between them. U see, the fan needs fresh cooling air to work.
👍👍👍🙂
Can I charge this with a 200 watt Ridgid solar panel?
What are the current and voltage specs on the panel?
@@solarguy 21.62+3%V
That open circuit voltage.
What is the open circuit current? (IoC)
I can't seem to find that loc
good review: could one connect a River2 to a River2 Max for more power, via usb cable?
I don't have a max yet but I don't know if that would work to connect the two usb-c's together because of the bi-directional port. But you could definitely use the USB-A or other output ports to charge the river 2.
Could it power a refrigerator or freezer
No, unfortunately. If you want to power a normal size fridge, you’ll want to check out the Delta mini, delta 2 and any ones bigger than that. I have coupon codes I can post if desired.
@@solarguy what about a tv
When the power goes out
Yes, it can power a TV.
What can the river power
Hobotech tested this and it only has 73% of stated capacity. So ....
What's your point? And what efficiency test are you referring to?
