How can you prefer a manager above such a great singer?! Biggest mistake ever
Shim was the band, sick puppies is one of my all time favorite bands. Its such a shame they weren't able to continue. Thanks shim for all the fantastic music that definitely came from the heart.
There simply is no Sick puppies without you. Period.
I find it really hard to fight for or stand up for what I think is right, but after hearing you talk about your experience and how it only seemed to strengthen you, it sort of gives me a little inspiration/courage to start doing that more often

After the show.... At the merch booth Emma and the other guy were in and out sitting down and doing it for the exposure etc..
But YOU were at the merch booth standing up and meeting EVERYONE the whole time...not just "hi" "bye",but actual conversations...parents,kids, security, you even gave me a free shirt
Fans can tell who loves the fans and who sees walking dollar signs...you love the art and the fans

Hey Shim,
My name is Shane. I want to thank you, and I want you to know that YOUR words, YOUR lyrics, and YOUR passion has honestly saved my life, countless times. I have been a fan of yours (including Sick Puppies when you were the lead) since Welcome to the Real World debuted two days before my 8th birthday. I had already been through some severe trauma before I found your music which was part of why I was listening, so not only did the words hit me to my core, they gave me words to describe the pain that I was going through.
As I grew older, my toxic and abusive environment got worse, along with my life as a whole. More abuse, more trauma, some partying and drugs. In my darkest moments, I’m talking crisis, loss, grief, wanting to end it all, your music, alongside Linkin Park and Papa Roach, were and still are some of the musical anchors that keep me going and give meaning to the suffering. Your words, your music, helped me to regain my identity within the chaos of my life and not let the world define me or mold me into what it wants me to be. Until they cut you, Sick Puppies was the answer I gave whenever someone asked me what my favorite band was, and Shimon Moore is the first answer that I give when someone asks who my favorite songwriters, guitarists, and vocalists are.
There’s not a single song that you’ve written (either in the band or on your own) that I can’t relate to in one way or another. In between toxic and abusive family, toxic and abusive relationships, my accomplishments, my failures, not letting the world kick me down and keep me down, how to wake the hell up and so much more. I’ll be 30 this year, and out of all the artists I’ve ever admired or listened to, your lyrics are the most authentic and real. Whatever you decide to continue do from now on, know that your words have saved lives, and your talent and passion is recognized, I believe your future children will be beyond proud. I’ll be a fan and continue listening to your music til the end.

Brother, the album, "dressed up as life" had so much passion and spark into it. It really got me off through some real hard time. You were absolutely brilliant in that, I loved 'tripolar' as well it was amazing! And your individual work has been really great too. I think in 2010 or 2011 i think they were trying to find a fourth member. Or it was another band i can't remember. I remember it was two guys and a girl. They came up to me at the Trinity club in Saint Robert, Missouri. I sang shinedown's 45. A hard song and I was told I nailed.

After hearing the news about the band breakup, and throughout the past few years, I kept checking in to see if you were up to anything - I was very curious to see what you would do. Today, a Sick Puppies song came on Spotify, and I remembered how much I loved the band’s music, in particular, your voice & songwriting. Decided to look you up again, and found your solo album Shim. Absolutely loved it!! My favorite song is probably Kaleidoscopes, but there are so many other good songs on the album. I was very happy to know that you’re still making music, and to hear about everything in this video. Wishing you the best in future endeavors and look forward to anything else you work on! I totally forgot to mention I used to make Sick Puppies song covers on UA-cam, and some of those songs to this day I can pick up a guitar and still remember how to play them. (I wouldn’t recommend watching them, they probably haven’t aged well) 😂

Shim, I just want to say I seen you and Sick Puppies live at X-Fest in 2007 and 2010. You guys were my favorite band at the show. You personally rocked it and you really knew how to get the crowd going. Dayton always had REALLY rowdy crowds. Glad to see your still creating man. Stay at it!

I went to two Sick Puppies concerts here in the Netherlands. What I fondly remember after the shows, I went to you Shim, and the other members didn't even blink an eye towards me or the rest of the fans. You were always still open, friendly and talkative. I even remember the first time you were sitting alone behind a table and the other members weren't around. I went up to you and you were super friendly and chatty. And after this video, i get the complete context of being able to speak out loud. Thank you for your honesty!
That band died without you Shim. After all that, SP damn near disappeared here in the states. Even if they did re-emerge, I couldn't get myself to pay attention if you weren't front man.
Just like 3 days grace fizzled out without Adam. Certain front men just make the whole attitude of the band.

The first time I heard "You're Going Down" was before an FSU football game. That song is electric. You've got a great voice. It sucks that the band broke up, but I admire you for sticking to your principles.
The lyrics to "Dressed Up as Life" just rolled through my head the whole way through this interview. You won't be thinking of causes; you're on your deathbed and dying... you'll only be thinkin of...
It's "What are you looking for" and the line goes "You won't be thinking of cars when you're on your deathbed and dying" because the song is about hoarding money and things instead of focusing on what's important, and realizing it at the very end. Still accurate though!

Dude I went through this in 2022. I was booted from the band I started for no good real reason. These were people I thought were good friends, friends above all else. It was pretty hurtful in the way it was handled. We could have talked it out and figured out a path forward but it was like a weird coup where they all turned on me.
My one bit of solace is they've done fuck all since I left and are now down to 2 members.

"Dressed Up as Life" and "Tri-Polar" are brilliant! I still listen it sometimes. I was also on your Saint Petersburg show back in 2014. It was first and only show in Russia just before you broke up... Such a luck that I got chance to see you alive before band collapsed and before everything! To be honest it is such a shame that Sick Puppies doesn't exist anymore. But thank you for that two albums. They are part of my past.
There will most likely be a reunion soon. I just saw Emma live last year play bass with Evanescence when they were touring with KoRn!
If you happen to see this, that's fantastic. I was just looking the band up to listen to your music again and I happened to see this video. I knew you'd left but never knew why. You guys were one of the first bands I ever saw. You opened, I believe, for Devour the Day in Missouri (USA) way back in 2013. Easily one of the top three bands I've ever seen live and I still come back to your old Sick Puppies songs from time to time. Appreciate you for your time with the band, hell of a vocalist.

Sick Puppies came to my hometown of, Fairbanks, Alaska a few times. The first couple times I wasn't of to attend. Then I straight up missed it. The 4th time was when Shimon was replaced. The show was incredible and had a great experience, although, I'm sure I wasn't alone in wishing Shimon was there. I finally got to see the band live, but he wasn't there. Bittersweet

Really love all you do and am glad to see you stand up for yourself! Love Sick Puppies ever since I heard the name on a childhood show I used to watch called House of Anubis and knew some of the songs. I have also been in the situation where I was not being myself fully because of what people thought I was like and stayed quiet so there was no judgement. I finally realized in the past few years that it is important to stand up for yourself and keep going no matter what others think because only you can make yourself happy. Friendships come and go but the true friends are who except you for yourself, try and see your point of view, make you happy, and work things out in the end. Keep being you and keep creating amazing, inspirational music that always helps me through. =)

I'm sorry, Shim, but the moment I heard the band essentially forced you out of the band, back when it happened, and I was a frequent follower on your group's Facebook page, I honestly couldn't support them further. I think that was absolutely disgusting and disrespectful. I'm just fortunate I got to see you guys tour before you split (and even got to meet you outside the venue. You're a super chill and cool guy). Anyway, you seem to be doing well and that's super awesome your vocals are featured in the theme for Resident Evil 2 Remake. Meanwhile, Sick Puppies faded to obscurity and all I hear is crickets lol
I do pray one day ya’ll patch things up. Oh and btw, Connect is an AMAZING album. Dressed Up As Life & Tri Polar, all three are in my top 10 favorite albums ever
Sick Puppies have made so little progress since losing Shim, that Emma actually joined Evanescence as a full time member. I'm honestly more excited for her work in that band than for whatever Nu-Puppies do. Meanwhile I can't wait for new SHIM songs

Every once in a while, over the past few years, I'd try to see if there was any update on what happened? Just last week(10/23) I went to SP wiki and it said the reason Shim was fired was because he tried to dissolve the band. I was like whoa. But now hearing from you directly, it makes much more sense. Sounds like things are still not great, but hey Blink just got back together so who knows!?

The way Shim talks about people telling him how they play their music is touching. I had the pleasure of very briefly meeting the 3 in an autograph line after a small venue concert, and I mentioned how thrilled I was to have done a cover of All the Same with my dad's band at a bar once, so knowing how he feels towards his fans in that light is touching. Looking back, though, I can see they were experiencing tension in the way they were quite reserved, but no one outside the band knew anything, so I just thought they were exhausted, or, as unlikely as I thought it was, they didn't care much. But so many years later, I'm glad to see they definitely did/do care. Sucks the band went through all that turmoil over a manager. Capitalism destroys art and mental health.

I saw you guys live together every single time you came to Vermont, I've seen you in other states 10 other times, but I can't listen to them with their new singer... Sounds like a good breakup for both parties. The band wanted to continue consistently without stoppage where you were open to quitting and doing other things. Sounds like a good move for all involved.
recently started jammin dressed up as life and tri polar again for the first time in years. brought back a lot of youthful memories. re listening to them all these years later made me fully realize how shim is an elite vocalist and songwriter!

I only just discovered Sick Puppies about a week ago (which is weird considering I'm a millennial Australian, like have i been living under a rock???) and am addicted to Tri Polar! War and I Hate You are two songs I've been listening to every morning since discovering them. I really like Emma but after learning about what happened to the band I'm not sure if I should look up to her the same way. You sound like a really cool dude who can take on emotionally difficult situations, and THAT sounds like someone to look up to! ^-^

Shim and Emma is Sick Puppies. There is no Sick Puppies wothout one or the other. Dressed Up As Life is one of the best rock albums EVER. Sad to see the demise of the band but I'll akways be a fan of what Shim and Emma created.

I'm not saying he's 100% wrong but I've been in bands with dudes like this. He said it himself he probably wasn't as invested and the others could tell you always can. So the management stuff was just the straw. He always had the potential to be a solo artist when your a trio the bass player and drummer are going to stick together. I could see this is kinda how this went down behind the scenes. Shame though they had some bangers.
