This is my #1 all time favorite song bar none. In my 56 years, it has never not once failed to lift my spirits. The whole song is awesome but that baseline is absolute FIRE!

In 7th grade, 1989, my science partner and I decided to name our group The Doobies because I saw my mom's album and thought it was a funny word. We got in trouble because the science teacher knew doobies were joints and we didn't.

Guitarist Patrick Simmons is the one with the long hair. It's been over 50 years since this song's release, and he's still rockin the long hair, albeit a lot more gray now. When I'd see them in concert back about 10 years ago, his son was playing in the band. The son had long hair just like his dad!

That hat also has a circular light! If I remember correctly. It's been a while. Love the Doobie Brothers they were a wonderful musical part of my childhood...and yes Jai, it is a great song to rollerskate to. They used to play it at the rink all the time.

As for the roller skate comment - this used to be at the roller rink all the time in the early 80s.

Jai, you vibe as hard as I do 🤣 I grew up in the 90’s, turning 40 this year and about 15 years ago I realized how amazing and happy music from the 70’s & 80’s is. I just LOVE you 2! Jai was pretty serious at start of song and the her whole mood seemed to change and that beautiful smile came out and her cute bouncing started! How wonderful! The drummer Keith Knudsen and I had the same drum teacher the late great Jimmy Brown. Keith is from princeton illinois I live in princeton as does Keith's brother and sister. Sidley Keith passed away from cancer rip Keith you are missed.

Surprisingly, those helmets are still around - although not _exactly_ like the one the drummer's wearing. A US outfit sells custom "hockey" helmets like it in various colours (yellow too) with team logo on or off as requested. No chin strap. Apparently they're popular at hockey games when a goal is scored.....wearer turns on his/her hardhat light as well. 70s rock fashion took some weird turns...lol... lotsa bling and glitter and feathers--sky was the limit back then. 🤩

The DOOBS were one of the most influential bands of the 70s. The lead, tom Johnson was the voice of a generation..my gen. Many great hits came out of them. Plz react to JESUS IS JUST ALRIGHT WITH ME. Or maybe THE DOCTOR, their 90s comeback album. Very high energy group n songs. Y'all showing your DOOBIE GROOVE!!!!!
I'm 55 so it's been awhile, but if I was anywhere near you guys I'd slap on those skates and tear up the rink with y'all. I might be older but I'm not brittle. Lol. Another favorite at the skating rink was Dirty Laundry by Don Headly (from the Eagles) it was good song it you did any trick skating.
